View 1 RepliesThere are a couple of websites which I belive have pictures/images or something and it just shows a small blue question mark and you cannot do anything on that webpage. I looked on the pference and the display images is checked. So I don't know why it is hapenning. It sometimes says undefined.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a dynamically generated PDF that contains a 300 dpi image. The image added can be one of several that the user selects. On all other browsers the pdf renders fine. On Safari only, seemingly in all modern flavors of OSx and Safari, the images begin to print and then stops printing the actual image and grey is printed in the remaining space the image would take up. To make it more fun one of the images renders fine. It is the 3rd smallest image and the 2 smaller ones do not render so it does not seem to be size related.
This is a screenshot to use as an example: The folding instructions graphic is also 300dpi.

I have five Macs - from MacBook Pros to Mac Pros and I have never been able to view a PDF in Safari. I needed some legal documents and they were placed online as PDFs. I tried to view them but was presented with a blank black page in Safari and no option to download the PDF.
This happens on all five of my Macs. I went to my neighbor who has a new MacBook Pro and went to the same site and presto! There were the documents. I had to download, copy to Flash and bring them home.

First Safari extensions weren't showing up.I was able to get the extensions tab back, but found the privacy tab won't display. I unknowingly jacked another thread, as I'm new at this, so now am posting my own. I'm running Safari 5.1.5 on OSX Lion, MacBook Pro 2009.

Why does Safari 5.1.7 not display pdf files anymore? Please fix!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Snow Leopard. When I did this, it did something to the fonts displayed in Safari 5.1.7. When I go to a webpage (like someone's blog) the entire body of text is in a cursive font. I've tried emptying the cache, changing the fonts in the Preferences/Appearances tab in Safari, deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist, and also deleting duplicate fonts in my Font Book.

Why does Safari now truncate the display of my URLs? I WANT to know if its http or https. I can't find a preference to turn this back on..I own a MacBook Pro, not an iPad with a hinged display.Â
One size does not fit all. How do I get them back or do I bin Safari and migrate to Firefox?

I have Safari set to open all new tabs in back of the current tab (option-clicking links). It's been working fine, displaying the new tabs normally like so. For the past few weeks, all of a sudden all tabs that open in back of the current tab display like so. If I make the second tab active and then make the first tab active, everything looks fine as it should. It's only when new inactive tabs are created that they look all funky. I've tried deleting the Safari prefs file and also reinstalling Safari.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUpgraded to Safari 5 today. As a web developer working on projects, I should have known better, but I did discover a bug:
Safari 5 incorrectly displays some embedded Flash backgrounds.
This site uses SIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) for some text. For those of you that are unfamiliar, it is a JavaScript/Flash combo trick that allows you to show text in a font that is unavailable to the person viewing the site - using Flash. You still type the text out in HTML, but using Javascript, it hides the original text and displays a Flash plugin which dynamically grabs the text and displays it using a different font, often one that isn't commonly used. It's a good thing because if people don't have Flash, it displays the content in text/html, in a browser-friendly font; if they do, it allows the designer to use a wider variety of fonts and have them actually work.
The Bug
On every browser except Safari 5 (including previous versions of Safari), the Flash text is displayed properly with a transparent background. In Safari 5, the text is displayed with a black background.
I tested this on Safari 5, Safari 4, Firefox 3.6.3, Chrome 5.0.375.55, and IE8 for Windows 7.
I don't know yet if adding more variables to the Flash SWF file will allow the black background to go away, but I intend to find out.
Update
It's not just a small website, either. For those of you with Safari 5, check out Adobe's CS5 page. Notice anything weird about the headline text?
There are a bunch of horizontal lines that're plaguing my iMac. What's causing this?

My magic mouse seems to lose focus in safari in the external display. When I click on a link in a page instead of opening the link in the current tab a new tab is opened to open the link. My current mouse settings are:
secondary click right
scroll with momentum
screen zoom
two finger swipe.
Websites such as My Excite are not displaying correctly since the Sfari 5.1.4 update. They are fine in Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera are working fine and displaying sites correctly.

Airport shows that I am connected but safari doesnt connect.
The symptoms is: The flash videos are only display with a full red bar and nothing happen, no video no sound nothing. The Flash player was upgrade with 11.2.202.235. before safari 5.1.7. I have an iMac with SL, and a Macbook with SL too. However after I upgraded safari 5.1.7 the flash videos are not display correctly, (only videos). The same happen in both computers. I need to tell you that I follow all the possible recommendations that I founded in internent. I uninstall flash pug-in many times. I restore both. I switch many buttons and options like "reset safari", "empty cahe", "block pop-up windows", "enable java-script", "enable java". I turn off and on the firewall. I switch all the options in the flash player plug in preferences. And nothing. I turn on and off the plug ins. In fact I tried all the possibilities in the preferences menus from the programs.Â
In one occasion I had a glimpse of functionality for only one hour without problems after I reinstall safari from the Apple website, but only worked until I turned off the computer. The next day was the same problem. After I fought with safari 5.1.7 and the plug-in flash player 11.2.202.235. Now I noticed something wired, only when I switch the "Private browsing" option in safari is when the videos are displayed correctly.Â

Can Safari be configured to display bookmark icons in the bookmark bar? I love having that feature in Firefox. I like having just the icon in my bookmark bar; that way, I can fit in more bookmarks and it's less cluttered.Does anyone know how to display bookmark icons in the bookmark bar in Safari? Can you get different skins for Safari so that I could get that feature?
View 24 Replies View RelatedSince an upgrade back in November last year I have lost the ability to watch "On Demand" programming from our local (NZ) TV stations. You Tube also disappeared for a while but is back now since Google changed things. I had hoped that subsequent updates would reurn my service but it hasn't. I am etting tired of having to change to "Firefox" in order to catch up with my entertainment.Â
Any good ideas as to why this has happened and how to reverse it?Â

My wife's macbook monitor is destroyed due to happy 2 year old. It won't be worthwhile to replace the monitor and it is not fixable without some expensive work being done on it, therefore I would like to use our TV as an external monitor and retire the macbook to being a mediia computer. I have connected it to the TV, and I see an empty desktop, as far as I can determine it looks like it is treating the TV as a secondary display - that the desktop is extended onto - so I cannot actually interact with the normal desktop. When I try to run things using keyboard shortcuts I hear some sounds of things starting, but I don't see anything on the TV.  So what I need to do is to have some way to tell it to treat the secondary display as the primary display. I'm getting a high resolution, and it looks alright, but it's not fully using the widescreen. That's "aspect" right? Well anyway, I also have a 19" display and it works perfectly. My Xbox, cable box and movies all use the full widescreen on the Acer, but the Macbook with the super amazing Mini DisplayPort doesn't even use the full resolution. What's with that? I thought the reason they had this new port and a $30 adapter was for higher resolutions!

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I hooked up my macbook pro to a mini display port to a dvi -> hdmi to my tv no problem. However, when I hooked up the mini display -> dell monitor, I get nothing. The screen is black. The weird thing is that my macbook pro recognizes that a second monitor is plugged in... it just won't display anything
