When i click on an email link in a site to contact, then by default Mail app opens! Is there a way to override the opening with Mail and just simply be able to copy the email link in order to use it with my web based email acount?
View 4 RepliesI've come across a strange problem that I'm not sure if Mac Mail will be able to deal with natively. Basically, I have several contacts in my address book that have 2 addresses; work and home. I also have 2 mail accounts set up; my work account and my home account. I've run into a few problems at work when I'm sending email to colleagues as it was auto-selecting their personal addresses when I typed in their names. I managed to fix that but now when I send mail from my personal account, the auto-select chooses their work email first so I have to scroll down to choose their personal account.
Is there a way of getting mail to understand that if I'm sending mail from my personal account, then "home" addresses should show up first in auto-complete but if I'm sending from my work account, then "work" addresses should show up first? I understand this is probably a bit of a long shot without a third party tool but thought it best to ask!
every time i open a site and click something it will direct me to a new site. this happens everytime without fail.. (on every site)Â also my web cam. I have a contact for my mom which used to be her first name and last name which I later changed to just "Mom" in the first name box after getting an iPhone. At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.

I have two email addresses set up with Mail. But I want one of them to be the default email address when I compose a new message. I often forget to change the email address and end up sending with an email address I didn't want to use.
Mail 2.0 has this, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in Mail 3.0?
In my Mail app I currently have two email accounts set up. One is my main email and one is my college email. I only use the college email account because my school sends all of their stuff through it so I need to monitor it. For some reason however, this account has become the default account that Mail wants to send through. To use the other account I have to click the drop down menu under the subject field. This happens even though my main account is the top account on that drop down menu. I have looked through all the preferences and cannot see where I can choose a default sending account.

Since updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)

My ISP sent an email that they want me to change the port my email program uses. They said most programs use port 25 and they wanted it changed to port 587 because it's safer. I called them to clarify and the tech had me change my Mail 3.6 preferences/advanced from port 995 to port 110 which he said was safer. Doing so renders me unable to e-mail so I switched it back to port 995. He couldn't figure out why 110 wouldn't work and suggested I contact Apple. I need to make any changes to my Mail account or not based either on the message from my ISP or the change the tech was trying to make. Unless I hear otherwise I'm staying at 995.

I have successfully gone into Mail > Preferences > General and changed the default reader to Outlook and that works great. This is the problem: when I cmd click on a file, I have an option to select "New Email As Attachment". This is still defaulting to Mail.

Other times I'll click a link and a giant white browser window will open behind current window taking up my whole screen. Another frequent occurrence is being directed to the site "theclickcheck". I have a registered version of MacScan and it comes up with nothing and my software is up to date. Where do I go from here?

View 9 Replies View RelatedOn both Safari and Chrome browsers, I have been using a particular website - ([URL] .... - this is a website of an institute I have enrolled with and needs a user id to access it) - since a year.
Earlier, on my mac, it would open the links to pdf files as also links to videos uploaded on their site.
However, since the past couple of months, I have not been able to access any of those. Whenever I click, there is absolutely no response from the website. It remains static. Although I am able to navigate through the various pages, but am not able to open anything at all.

I created a site with iweb 08. I did it from scratch, because when I tried to load the site that was created from 06, it totally messed up everything. I have a couple custom fonts that I used, and it looks great in iweb, but when I view the published website on another computer, the fonts are completely different, like they reverted to default. I finally got everything to work ok with 08, and now I have a font problem. If it makes a difference, I'm not using a .mac account.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a friend where I have a single convo with and a group convo with via iMessages. There were times where his messages were sent from his number, and other times from his email address. As you may know, on the Mac it keeps it in the same window. However, on the iPhone it'll separate it. So he unchecked his email on his iPhone. So now everything will be in one window with him on my iPhone, as well as the 3rd friend. Â
But now on my Mac. I can not use the group convo to send him a message. I still receive messages from him in the window that I've had opened for the last year. But I can not use my Mac to send a message to the 2 of them, because he won't receive the message. Â
With that being said, on the single convo. I was able to click his name and a little window pops open. I was able to select his phone number. It automatically switched over so my messages are now being sent to his phone number. It even displayed "iMessages sent to *phone number*".Â
However, on the group message. I select his name and the little window only shows the fact that his email address is no longer registered with iMessages and asks me if I want to remove it. No matter what I do, I can not see his phone number as a selection. Nor can I permanently remove his email address from the group convo. It will disappear, but once I click out of the window then back, his email re-appears. Â
I've tried quitting Messages, rebooting the Mac but I can not change his contact info in the group's convo. I don't want to delete that message just to start a new one. Unless I really have to

When I open some, maybe a tenth of my incoming emails, they open in window much wider than my display, like twice display width. Probably happens on mail sent from Windows machines. No other time, in no other application, does anything display beyond normal screen width. Â

Upon the strong suggestion by the Apple website that I change my primary email address to match my AppleID, I did. However, there are no options to configure this email account, which exists nowhere in the universe. I tried sending mail to this new email address/AppleID account from my work account, only to have it bounce back as undeliverable. On the appleid.apple.com site, there are no options to reset the AppleID's primary email address. My AppleID is now connected to an email address that doesn't exist, I can't configure, etc. etc.Â
