Safari :: Mail Link/Mail Contents Giving Error - "Safari Can't Create An Email Message Because Google Chrome.app Doesn't Support"?
Apr 5, 2012
Since updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)
Until today, I have been able to email using reader. Today, I am getting the following error message: Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome doesn’t support sending webpages from Safari.Â
Since a couple of Safari updates ago Im suddenly getting the Chrome browser launched whenever I click on someone to email off the Safari site Im browsing.
I am using Windows 7 and recently switched to Safari, when I try to open an email link in Safari it takes me to google chrome, how do I fix this? I switched my default browser to safari and looked in settings for any mail options but cant find
I am trying to access the Apple Support Downloads page and somehow I am getting an Apple page with 404-error message. Is someone experiencing the same thing?

I'm running Safari 5.1.4, and Mail 5.2 on a system running OS 10.7.3. I am trying to send a link to a page from safari using CMD+SHIFT+I. When I attempt to do that, I receive a message that Safari cannot find an email application. I checked Mail's preferences, and it is listed as the default mail application. How to get Safari to find Mail?
I get this ad every time I load the page. I figured it was a cookie problem so I searched my cookies for 'Google' and deleted all the results. I'm still getting it. It's not happening in Firefox, only Safari. It's been there since Friday or Saturday. Am I the only one?
I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.
I have a 21.5" iMac bought in November 2009. I am having a strange happening with it. I have just been using Mail, clicked on the red button at the top left to quit, but the mail window just kept disappearing all but about 3mm off the screen to the top and top left and not quitting. I have also had this happen when using Safari, occasionally if I click on a link on the page to another open another page Safari disappears off the top and top left except for about 3mm.
Just wondering anyone run into any problem after installed Safari 4.0.5? I use igoogle as Homepage, after I upgraded to 4.0.5 the google mail gadget don't work anymore, when i click on mail it won't go to quick view for Gmail and if I click on the Google Mail in the tap on the left-hand side it's work but bottom half of the mails screen or half of the email it's missing..Anyone having the same problem? I try to find 4.0.4 to download but I cant find anywhere still has it..
Just got my first IMac. Beautiful machine to look at, but there are a few things that I have to get used to. One of them is Safari. Actually, I prefer Google. Any comments?
I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro and I've been using Safari as my default browser. Before I got my Macbook and used a Windows 7 laptop, Google Chrome was my default browser. I still wanna use it as my default browser but not sure if it's as good for the Macbook as it is for Windows. I know both are fast browsers but which is the best one for the Macbook? Should I stick with Safari or should I switch to Google Chrome?
I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:Â
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.Â
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.Â
I've tried both of these browsers and I like Chrome more in almost every aspect except one. Because of this aspect, I continue to use Safari.
I don't know if this is the official name of the feature but it seems logical to me. Autocomplete or autofill.
Basically, when I am typing a URL in Safari, if the URL is in my bookmarks or history it will complete the rest of the address for me and all I have to do is hit enter.
For example, I have [URL] in my favorites. I type "fa" and safari fills in the rest, I just hit enter and I'm there.
Whenever I go onto Safari or Google Chrome there are always advertisements. Also occasionally when I click on something a new tab appears or a 'pop up page'. Im almost certain I have a virus on my MacBook Pro. how to remove it and is it removable.
Every time I try to connect to any social media websites and a few others, I experience one of a few things. The first being an SSL error. This happens on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and even Google. The second is an SSL error again, BUT I can proceed anyway, which brings me to the third issue. I get onto the website but all the graphics on the website are gone and I get something looking like the image below. Time and date are correct.

I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11 Encountered problems opening a .MOV file attached to a Mail email. The file crashed. Now, none of these files will open: Mail, Safari, itunes, iChat, Google Earth, Skype. The icon bounces ONCE, then...nothing. At first I thought it was only internet-linked applications, but I am able to run Firefox browser, as well as open other applications that don't link to the internet, .I have opened similar MOV files from the same source before, and no problems. Â
so i just got bored with safari so i decided to try out google chrome. but i had a few questions.
is there a way to add custom buttons like in safari? i like how in safari i can put buttons like + Bookmark and place it anywhere i like. is there a way to do this in chrome?
and also any recommended extensions? right now i just have, add block, flash block, and speed dial (top sites) extensions.
Safari regularly gives me error that I'm not connected to internet/can't find server. I've gotten so fed up I've downloaded Firefox and don't have the issue with Firefox. Also, my other computer running Internet Explorer doesn't give me these errors. I've tried resetting safari, emptying cache. I'm on Mac OS X, MacBrook Pro laptop.
Snow leopard antivirus works with mail, safari, ichat, but if i install google chrome will it work with it? I am talking about the built in malware detector that comes with Snow Leopard
My Gmail account was recently hacked. To stop the damage (malware distribution) I changed my password. This stopped the sending of emails under my email address.Â
While changing my password, Google suggested I use their implementation of their dual element authentication which comprises a password and, in my case, a SMS address (iPhone number) to which google sends a specific text code (six digits for me) that when I enter it validates the device I am using, either PC MAC or smartphone.Â
For those apps that cannot handle the SMS (second validation step) Google provides a one-time-password that combines the password and second element so that it can be entered in the single password field of those apps that only have one field.Â
Fine. This works for non Apple apps such as Outlook for MAC (on my MAC) and Google's gmail app on my iPhone.
But it does not work for Apple MAIL on my MACÂ or the Apple MAIL on my iPhone. Â

My wife and I both use Yahoo! Mail. Neither of us uses the Mail app to manage our email. How do I prevent Mail from opening when we click an email address in Safari? Is it possible to direct Safari to open a separate web browser prompting us to log in to our Yahoo! Mail?
