IMac Intel :: How To Set Entourage As Default Program To Email Pictures From Preview
I'm a PC-to-Mac convert and am really enjoying my iMac, except for a few little nuisances. Here's one: I have set Entourage as my default email program, both in (Mac) Mail and in Entourage. Everything works smoothly when clicking on an email link on a web page, or sending from iPhoto or from individual, open documents. But when I try to mail an image or a Photo Booth picture from Finder>Preview>File>Mail Image, it always opens Mail and not Entourage. There must be a way to set the default email program in Finder and/or Preview, but I sure can't find it and Apple support wasn't able to help much either. My experience is that users often know more than the experts, who are expected to know a little about a lot of varied topics. I've searched on this forum but can't find any reference to this exact situation. Information: iMac Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Mac Safari :: Log In Get The Default 'Messages Per Topic Page' (10 Or 15) And Default Is Set To 25?
When in the forums, the search field looks as if it's superimposed onto itself, that is the magnifying glass shows twice, the one on top and one underneath (the search field underneath also extends to the right a little too)AND when I log in I get the default 'Messages per Topic Page' (10 or 15) and my default is set to 25, it's only when I refresh that it behaves as it should. Mac Safari :: Setting FTP Program As Default
I currently have Speed Download and Transmit FTP clients installed on my Mac. At the moment, when I click on a download link in Safari sometimes it just pops into the Safari Downloads window but sometimes it launches Speed Download. Is there anyway to make Safari launch Transmit FTP instead of Speed Download? Also, is there anyway to get Safari to always use the FTP clients? Information: MacMini; Macbook Pro 13"; iPhone 16GB; AppleTV; iPad Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Software :: Trying To Set Default Applications?
I am trying to figure out a way set my default applications for email. I don't want the Mail app because I use hotmail. Right now if I click on an email address it tries to open mail, which I can't use. If I just erase Mail, the nothing pops up if I click an email address. What am I supposed to do?

Mac Safari :: Google Set As Default But Search Running In Yahoo?
Despite selecting 'Google' as my default search engine, Safari 5.0.3 insists in running every search in Yahoo. Recently I was having lots of Safari problems, so I deleted and completely re-installed Safari on my iMac. Since then Safari has been working more or less normally, except for this one quirk. I tried removing the com.apple.safari.plist file to my desktop and restarting Safari, but it continued to search in Yahoo, so I put it back. Information: iMac (2007) and Mac Pro (2008) Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Applications :: How To Set The Default Email Address
I feel stupid for even asking this because it seems like something I'd normally be able to figure out but I've searched a bit with no results. Oddly enough, this only seems to have become an issue since the 10.6.4 update. In Mail, I can't seem to set the default email address to be used when composing a new email.

When going to a linked page in Safari I usually want to open it in a new tab or a new window and occasionally to do other things with it. So I'm used to right-clicking on links to bring up a contextual menu offering me: Open Link in New Window Open Link in New Tab Download Linked File Download Linked File As... Add Link to Bookmarks... Copy Link: I noticed the loss of this menu when my wife wanted me to look at web pages she had found related to a possible holiday. Using Safari in her account on our iMac, I found no menu appeared when I right-clicked on a link. I checked she had the "secondary button" set up OK in the mouse preferences and I also found right-clicking worked OK elsewhere. I then tried other ways of making the menu appear on a link (CTRL-clicking or holding down the left, primary button); neither worked!................

I have downloaded Firefox to use occasionaly, only now if someone sends me a link via email OSX.6.1 opens up Firefox as the default browser. I've been searching through the preferences I can, but can't see where to make Safari default browser. Does anyone know how this done?

Within Pages when I select a word and open the inspector and select the link tab, choose the checkbox to make the word a hypertext link, Pages inserts a URL automatically. It is a very specific URL that I can't imagine why it would use that URL as a default. However I cannot find any preference that will allow me to change this default. IWeb 09 :: Cannot Publish Link To PDF - Program Crashes
I have published links to documents (pdf/doc) on my iWeb website several times in the past, using MobileMe. But now iWeb crashes when I try to do this. I'm using the "insert hyperlink" function in the inspector. I have found that I can publish a doc by dragging it onto the page. That doesn't crash the program, and it publishes just fine. But I really need to link to a pdf, and nothing I try is working (can't drag pdfs onto iWeb to make links). I have used only 1GB of my 10GB iWeb account, and my subscription is up-to-date. How do I make "RAR expander" my default program for .rar files?Or is there another program you would recommend? Background:I used "RAR expander" for a long time until I came across a file it was not compatible with. I then downloaded and installed "The Unarchiver" and it worked on the file "RAR expander" would not open. After that "The Unarchiver" became the default program for .rar files. The problem is that "The Unarchiver" does not work well with password protected files. So for months now I have just manually opened "RAR expander" whenever I try to open a password protected file. I want to keep both programs so I will be able to open any file, but as I rarely use "The Unarchiver" I would like to have that be the one I have to dig through sub-folders to use. That is, unless there is some excellent program I have not tried.

this is the closest category i could think of.i have a macbook and a midi drumset. the problem with this is the program i want to link it up to makes two of the pads (midi notes) trigger the wrong note (doesnt play a sound)is there a way in my mac setting to change for instance note C2 and send it to the program as note G1 etc. basically a note comes in as C2 and i want it to alter before the program to a G! OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Set Up New MBP To Use D-Link Print Server
MBP found 2 of my 3 printers right away. Tried manually configuring the 3rd which is an older HP Laserjet 1320 connected via USB to a D-Link print server. In Win you config using the IP address and port name. Configuration appeared to work but nothing gets sent to printer. If this is an easy fix I would like to go that route but if the print server hardware is too old please suggest good alternative that will work for both Windows and Mac systems as I have both in the house. Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

As it's default setting, .wmv files open up with VLC. How do I change it so it's default program is Quicktime? I have the codec installed and it plays with no problem. I know I can go into "get info" and check "always open with" but it only does it with that file and not all .wmv files

Logic Studio / Pro :: Program Number Not Retaining Link To Sound In External Midi Keyboard
I have Logic Pro 8 and a MAcbook connected via a Midi cable with a Yamaha CVP 109 keyboard which has its own really cool sounds. I can record from the keyboard using the keyboard sounds into Logic Pro, and I can playback the results as long as I am within the same session (i.e. I have not closed down Logoc Pro or OI have not switched off the keyboard. Problem 1 - If I switch off the keyboard, the Program number visible in the INspector in Logic Pro changes from say 40 to 0 every time. I see it happening in realtime on the screen. So if I subsequently save the Logic pro project, all the instrument program numbers are set to 0. Problem 2 If instead of switching off the keyboard, I exit Logic Pro and reload the project, the program numbers are correct but they still play as if they are program 0. I have to select another number and go back to the one originally visible to get them to work. Information: Macbook Mac OS X (10.5.7)

OS X Leopard :: Default Picture Viewer Program
I´ve tried to reset my default picture viewer program from Preview to XEE, I can do that in "show info", with the "open with/ change all" button. However, next time I reboot it will be back to the "preview" default. Does Snow Leopard´s preview "next" and "previous" arrows function? I just want to open up a picture in any folder and go next and previous with the arrows........I´m still on Leopard now.

I'm really angry with Apple this time. This is something you couldn't be so difficult to change, but it is. I'm using MacOs in Italian and I don't want to change it. I like it. It's my language and it's my right to chose what I want. But I write in English. And it's impossible to have a different language set as default. I want simply to change the language for the whole document. Otherwise nice feature as the Outline mode is useless (you have to change the language for every new section).
