Whenever I adjust the volume on the speakers themselves, they shut off. I have to grab the subwoofer and unplug/plug in again to get any sound to come out. I do not understand what caused this to happen all of a sudden as these speakers worked great for 2 years.

Currently I have my Mac volume up about 3/4, then I use the pod that comes with the Bose Companion 5 to adjust volume. I wonder if I should bring the Mac volume control all way to max, then use the pod to control the volume? Asking the audiophiles here, does it matter?
I have found the Max volume in OS X to be lower than I would like - especially when viewing DVDs or online movies. Is there a way in which I can adjust the system maximum volume output? Connecting external speakers is sometimes an annoyance.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI watched a video and it was very loud so I went to System Preferences and turned the sound down.But now I can't mute by clicking the F9 button as I normally can. I can mute by going to System Preferences but I don't want to do this.Before I changed the volume in System Preferences, the keyboard keys worked fine for volume adjustment. I could make it quieter, louder or mute.I have tried with checking and not checking the option to display volume on the screen (in System Preferences).

After I pulled out the jack for my speakers the volume icon was greyed out [URL]and soon I realized that internal speakers as such have been disabled from the system [URL]When I restart the startup chime is played as usual.Is it a hardware or software thing?

I did a software update and now its 10.10.1 the problem is when I try to adjust the volume the following icons appear, sound source are the internal speakers and i don't have any earphones/external speakers connected.

My iMac keyboard ( F keys) suddenly changed. The F11 and F12 keys no longer adjust volume. Some other keys F3 also changed.
What can I do?
I have recently put windows 7 professional on my aluminum macbook, installed all the drivers, and so forth. I hook up my macbook up to an external monitor, and use a logitech dinovo keyboard for a mac. However, when I am in windows 7, the function keys do not adjust volume, brightness, and any other of the functions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro and not too long ago I swapped from a fat, heavy and filthy white Apple Keyboard to a new skinny silver one. I like it, and also love that the F7-9 Skip Back-Pause/Play-Skip Forward keys work for iTunes, even when another app is active (what's the word I'm looking for - in focus or whatever). But I use Optical output, so the volume keys (F10-12) don't do anything. I know that, when iTunes is the active app, I can command-+/- to change the volume, but I'd love to be able to map the F10-12 keys to do that - without having to have iTunes active (playing, but not the active window).

Now the sound is very low and nothing I have tried seems to affect it in a positive way. I have all the connections on the creatures correctly inserted. There is sound coming from them, but the volume is very low.

Speakers are not muted, according to system profiler, they are connected. Won't let me turn them up or down, even though they are set to the highest setting. Basically the volume control is greyed out.

I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes. The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility. You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.
I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI believe that I shut down my macbook but was mistaken and it did not shut down completely. The next day I opened it up and the screen wouldn't turn on like it usually does after simply being closed without powering down. I wasn't around to use it till a day later, being today, and I thought it was just a low battery problem. Now the battery is fully charged and yet it is still in the same state.
There is one light on but it is not bright like it is when sleep mode is not taking place. Also, it sounds like its running; I can hear the fan running but both the keyboard and screen are refusing to turn on. I've gone on the apple support page and have attempted what they suggest, but it didn't work. I don't use any plug in devices like a mouse, the only things I plug in are the battery charger and my IPod.

View 12 Replies View Relatedi have a G4 with an m-audio revolution 7.1 sound card. the speakers are cambridge soundworks 510D and the receiver is an old denon avr-1403. i have an spdif cable but the problem is my speakers are "computer" speakers so i cant just go from the digital out on my sound card to the digital in on the receiver and plug my speakers/sub into the receiver. and here's a pic of the back of the sub on the 510D showing the inputs

This has worked just beautifully for me over the past years, sometimes there are drawbacks and it's kind of more failure-prone in some cases. This 'some cases' now happened again: there was a blackout and after that I couldn't login to my user account on the non-system volume anymore. I've been there once and hadn't any problems fixing it somehow, but now I screwed up big time.

After running a volume repair that failed I tried to restart my laptop, but when it gets to the blue loading screen, it takes forever and then shuts off. I can still run the Mac os x installer. When I go to disk utility, the Macintosh hd tab is visible, whereas it wasn't available before. Okay scratch that it isn't available anymore. Though, I just clicked on startup disk and it is visible there.

This setup has worked fine without any problems for the last four months.Though over the last two weeks I've been getting kernel panics (the grey curtain, telling you to restart) frequently.
