Software :: Mail Preferences Not Showing All Panes
Oct 19, 2008
In the preference panes I only have
Account Information
Mailbox behaviour
Advanced
I used to have more and have not done anything that might cause the other panes to not show. Is some kind person able to advise me how to get the other panes back again., Rules etc.
I just plugged headphones into the headphone port on my iMac(dual core 2.4) I went to system preferences, sound, then output and only the internal speakers show up. I rebooted the machine and still, same thing.
I tried the same headphones on the eMac sitting next to it, and it worked just fine. Still confused about the iMac
I have a 2007 imac and have done all updates that I know of but the transition to icloud is not working very well.
1) icloud does not have an icon in system prefernces, it's still mobile me. Although there is a message that states the account has been moved, I cannot sync etc.
2) two of my email addresses will not stay connected in mail. Since moving to icloud I have had to reinstall them everyday.
3) I host three websites from iweb but since the change to icloud I cannot find my former account where I can access my web domain info that used to be easily found in my mobile me account page.
My email messages for one Google account no longer show up in my OS X Mail client.Case info:This may have occurred after I enabled the 'All Mail' to Apple Mail for the account, then removed it once I saw it was adding every single message I deleted since the beginning of time. Still, that doesn't explain the following...My email messages for another Google account does show up in my OS X Mail client. They have exactly the same IMAP settings other than username and password. My email messages for the account that doesn't work, shows up fine on my iPhone/iOS and gmail.com.None of the messages in the inbox or folders/labels show up. The count is zero. However they all show up fine in folders in iOS and on gmail.com.There is an indicator for one new message in the inbox, but none show.
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Mid-2010
im using that converter which converts the mac port into VGA and im using a VGA to the tv and its only showing the screensaver. NOTHING ELSE. Also strangly enough it does show DISPLAYS when I open the prefrences.
I just bought a new Apple Magic Trackpad and after playing with it at the store I went into the settings to set a few things however when I got mine home and installed/paired it with the Bluetooth, I'm not showing any settings in my System Preferences for the Trackpad.
I've selected Recent Items in Finder Prefs to show 15 apps, documents etc., and it rarely shows more than 2 documents. And those 2 tend to be older files, not what I've been working on that day. I'm on Yosemite on an iMac.
I use an IMAP email account (provided by AOL) and every time I send an email it then comes in to my AOL sent items folder and displays an unread count on mail.app. It's infuriating.
I think imap stores the sent mail on it's server and I think I'm subscribed to all these folders so when it receives my sent mail, it sends a copy back to me.
I have tried creating a rule that mark all messages from me as read, but to no avail, it still does it anyway.
My preferences panes on my osx lion 10.7.4 macbook pro won't open directly. I can still go to spotlight and type "system preferences" and open them from there, but the following don't work:
* clicking the apple and click "system preference"
* clicking the network icon and clicking open network preferences
* goign to spotlight and typing anything but system preferences: (network preferences, displays, Keyboard, etc) They all have a blank page icon instead of a preferences iconWhen I do click them, an icon briefly shows up in the dock then disappears. It looks like an application that has been downloaded but not authorized. With the pencil and protractor
I've lost all my panes after clicking on System Preferences under the apple menu (and also 'open date & Time'). It flashes as though wanting to do something but no pane.
Ok I want to lock certain system preference panes for my brother like, I dont want him to be able to use my computer on his account and change the wallpaper...I just want that one preference pane disabled. and I want to make it so when he opens a dis-abled application it doesnt have the option to always open or open once.
Info:MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3), I need help with zoom option.
In my gmail interface I use their add-on "multiple inboxes" so on the left side is the normal gmail tags/folders. The middle has the e-mails and if i click on it, obviously it opens the e-mail. But the main screen, on the right side it will show me the e-mails that I have tagged with certain tags. So to keep my actual inbox clutter free, I have a few folders listed on the right, i.e. To do, Bills, etc. Is there a way to do this in Office or any other mail service? Gmail has become horrendously slow recently... it takes 30-45 seconds to open, delete, archive, etc., emails. I've seen a number of other complaints and Google hasn't acknowledged it, so I'm trying to find an alternative.
i dont undersatnd why they took something that was working fine and than took away features.i use a lot of categories / groups in my address book and this is not nearly as easy to use as it used to be.i would like to have the OPTION to bringing the 3rd pane back. does anybody have a hack or solution to this?this appears to be part of a wave of DUMBING down the mac platform. (iphoto is now a lot harder to use as well)
I just set up new IMAP account on Mail (Version 2.1.3 (753.1). And I can send and receive mail fine. However the sent mail is not showing anywhere.
Also the mailbox has submailboxes directly underneath it (whcih are all empty) unlike the other mailboxes where Draft and Sent Mail are all in the same place from all of the accounts.
When I go to account info, the system tells me that I haven't sent any mail. But I have and already received answers.
I run a late-2013 27-inch iMac with with OSX10.9.3. Although all my Mail preferences are set to 'never delete', periodically my entire Inbox and Sent folders get completely emptied out, every email deleted. The many emails I have in folders are untouched. I need to refer often to my sent mail and this is causing large problems as you'd imagine - as is losing my Inbox contents before I've dealt with them all.
This issue has probably when addressed in the past but I am having a problem with it now and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Currently, whenever I try to access Apple Mail (OS X 10.6.4), I get the spinning ball and I find that mail is not responding. Does anyone have any idea of what is going on or how I can reinstall mail?
I keep getting asked to insert my password for the three accounts I access via mail. I can't get the preferences to save the passwords and can't get the passwords working with the keychain. It seems that keychain isn't accepting passwords since I changed my system from mobile me to icloud. I still have Mac OS X. version 10.6.8. I wish that mobile me was still an option.
Using Mail 7.3. In response to the piling up emails on all devices I went into advanced setting under Mail preferences and set it to removed emails from the server. I immediately realized this wouldn't work bc now I can't get my email for that email account on my iPad. It goes to my desktop and then no other devices.
When I go back to reset that so it doesn't delete from the server I get this message: Invalid Directory
The account path /Users/emma/Library/Mail/V2/POP-Info@movementsofthesoul.org@mail.movementsofthesoul.org is already being used by the account “cmos”
It won't let me Save the change. Apparently it doesn't like that I have two email addresses (accounts) with that domain.
I have just changed my ISP on my windows 98 machine. Now I am working on the mac and trying to download a message with Mail but it is not working. The computer is connected to the internet ok and I can see the message in my webmail in Safari but it will not download. I have changed my account details in mail preferences but obviously I have missed something. The help file told me to check my network preferences but when I click on that, a dialog box keeps dropping down from the top to tell me "my network settings have been changed by another application" and there is a tab to click "ok". That is all and when I click that, it runs over and over again and doesn't let me do anything else. I don't know what has been altered but I do not want to alter any settings to my broadband connection because that works fine. That is the main trouble I have with a mac.
I want to copy all of my mail and preferences from an old OS X Lion hard drive to a new one. In order to do that I need to be able to see my user library on the old hard drive. Is there anyway to do that without using Terminal commands? Also, what files will I need to copy to the new hard drive?
Writing your preferences to disk has failed. Your preferences may not have been saved. The permissions on ~/Library/Preferences may be wrong or your disk may be full.
I have read previous discussions on this (2011) and used disk utility to clear permissions, but cannot find any mail.plist in Library
