View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulties burning 88.x MB DMG files to CDs (new CD-Rs and an old CD-RW) onto two different external USB2 disc burner drives (both have power AC connected: HP and LG Super brands). The new Mac Mini (no disc slot drive)'s updated 64-bit Mac OS X 10.7.4's Disk Utilities tries to burn and then fail right away or after a few seconds. The error says "Unable to burn 'whatever.dmg' (The disc drive did not respond properly and can't recover or retry." Nothing interesting in dmesg, but Disk Utility's logs had details:[URL].Â
I do see my drives' lights on during the burn. I can quick erase the old CD-RW fine. I can burn 538 MB from an 64-bit Windows 8 on my Acer AM3800 PC with the same discs and external burner drives without any problems. Also, I thought it was my USB cable extension, but it wasn't it. I don't use any USB hubs either. DMG files are fine too. I did notice copying from a CD to Mac Mini's local HDD was slow, but no failures.Â

View 8 Replies View RelatedIt is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
My friend ripped a CD via EAC into FLAC files, so that I could then burn a CD-R copy. I've done this multiple times without issue. However, with this current rip, the total file size is 708MB and does not fit on a regular CD-R disc. I'm a bit confused because all the files were ripped from a single Red Book CD. Is there anything I can do to reduce the total file size so that it fits on a CD-R disc (without removing one of the files)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently burned a project to DVD. It's a data disc, and seems to have worked fine, about 1.2 GB of the four available on the DVD-R I burned with a Superdrive on my G4 desktop.
I told it to write session in Toast 7 Titanium, but when i try to burn something else to the disc, Toast rejects it. With DVD's, can you only burn one data disc? No multiple sessions? It's okay if this is the case, I just want to know.

When trying to burn a DVD via Finder, I get an error message of 'error code:- 0x8002006E and the disc wont burn. One time the disc wouldn't eject but I finally manged to do this via Disc Utilities. I have also tried to burn the DVD through Disc Utilities but it seems to get stuck when trying to create a new disk .dmg file.I recently had to have a new graphics card installed, and have had a few problems since with sleep and mounting external drives. Could this be connected?Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI set up iDVD to burn a disc of my movie; it did so just fine. I saved the set up, then tried to reburn additional DVDs. It opened ok, but refused to burn anything-when it got to the "Burn" stage, it would display "recording finished" then lock up.
Are there some preferences I can trash on this, or what?
I am curious if I can burn a DVD using remote disc or if I need to buy the external drive.

Created iDVD with slideshow and music on my 5 yr old MBP.Tried to burn it to a Staples -R DVD disc.It appears to be burning for about 35 minutes, then with one minute left, it stops and ejects the disc.No error message. I saved the file as a Disc Image and was able to view it with the DVD player on my MBP.However, when I went to burn it to the disc, I got this message:"The disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
View 4 Replies View RelatedI create my own music and sometimes people ask if they can have it on a CD. Since I really do not want people to be able to rip it to their computer's I have denied these requests. However as the demand apparently grows and more people start asking I feel that I would really want to be able to share my music with them, securely. What I would like to do is burn a cd containing my music that people cant rip. I know there will always be some way of doing it, but fore the average computer user preventing mediaplayer/itunes from being able to rip the music will be enough to keep them from doing it.

I've tried six times to burn 290 photos, exported from iPhoto, to a RW DVD. The pictures export OK, the transfer to the DVD seems to go OK but it's when the disc is being verified that the problem occurs. It gets to somewhere around 25% verified then returns the message below and ejects the disc.
I only seem to have two burn settings:Â Max (2.4x) and 2.4x - I've tried both and failed.
As a test, I sent a mere 10 photos to a disc and that worked. Then I tried 100 to a new disc and it failed again. But the discs' capacity is 4.6 Gb.
In the past I've successfully burned several hundred photos onto many discs from the same manufacturer.
I'm not sure what's going on. Is it possible that the disc burner on my iMac is broken.

I think my superdrive died in my dual-core PM G5. This is what it's doing: I'll insert a DVD and it'll sit for a few seconds, then eject it. It DOES show up in my system profiler though. Is it dead, or is this a software problem? Oh- I should mention that the last thing I did was use Visual Hub to burn an AVI to a DVD. That worked fine. Afterward- nothing. I'm running OS 10.4.9. Help!

I read a few old threads about this that said to check the disc permissions on disk utility and did all that. I read something else that said turn the computer off and turned it off and then on again but it didn't work. This is the first disc I have tried to burn since downloading mavericks. I haven't had any trouble before although I don't burn too many discs. I have an early 2009 iMac.

So, yesterday I went to burn an audio cd in itunes. When I clicked burn I recieve a message that stated "Disc Burner or Software not found." I know its there(Combo CD burner/DVD reader drive.)
The other prob is that there is a disc stuck in the drive. I have tried all the various methods to eject the disc to no avail including rebooting and holding Cmd-Opt-O-F then typing eject cd but alas I "have no cd drive"
