Jun 13, 2012I tried to burn 1.4GB of data on a 4.7GB blank DVD using Finder but got an error message saying "file is too large to fit on the disc. Remove some files an try again". I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8.Â

Oct 29, 2009I recently burned a project to DVD. It's a data disc, and seems to have worked fine, about 1.2 GB of the four available on the DVD-R I burned with a Superdrive on my G4 desktop.
I told it to write session in Toast 7 Titanium, but when i try to burn something else to the disc, Toast rejects it. With DVD's, can you only burn one data disc? No multiple sessions? It's okay if this is the case, I just want to know.

Apr 22, 2012I have spent time today creating a short movie of photos of my 2 month old son. When trying to share with iDVD I have realised that my iLife 11 doesn't come with this software and I can't download it!I am therefore unable to burn my project to disc and feel I have wasted my time. Dec 25, 2009I used Handbrake to rip encode the dvd to mp4. Now I want to burn it to a DVD for a cheap backup.
mp4 is 1.4gb
I keep getting an error saying the data I'm trying to burn is over 4 gb's and too big for my blank disc. How's that possible?
Shouldn't I be able to burn the mp4 to a dvd easily in iDVD?

May 29, 2012Created iDVD with slideshow and music on my 5 yr old MBP.Tried to burn it to a Staples -R DVD disc.It appears to be burning for about 35 minutes, then with one minute left, it stops and ejects the disc.No error message. I saved the file as a Disc Image and was able to view it with the DVD player on my MBP.However, when I went to burn it to the disc, I got this message:"The disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."

Jun 21, 2005I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?

Aug 23, 2009Im using a 17" unibody macbookpro 2.66 early 09 to make a copy of my Leopard Disc to put in an offsite storage location.
Im able to rip movies and burn movies (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-DL), iMovie videos, iTunes cds, rip audio discs, etc.
The media is Dual-Layer DVD-R in disk utility
I burn it at the slowest possible speed (on both systems) at 2.4x
After it writes the data to the disc and finishes, i get this lovely image:
I tried doing a test install of it from the burned dvd and it installed fine.... = what the huh!?
its done this twice.
using the same media on a 15" 2.2ghz uMBP late 2008 gives me a completed successfully notification every-time.

May 26, 2010My friend ripped a CD via EAC into FLAC files, so that I could then burn a CD-R copy. I've done this multiple times without issue. However, with this current rip, the total file size is 708MB and does not fit on a regular CD-R disc. I'm a bit confused because all the files were ripped from a single Red Book CD. Is there anything I can do to reduce the total file size so that it fits on a CD-R disc (without removing one of the files)?

One time the disc wouldn't eject but I finally manged to do this via Disc Utilities. I have also tried to burn the DVD through Disc Utilities but it seems to get stuck when trying to create a new disk .dmg file.I recently had to have a new graphics card installed, and have had a few problems since with sleep and mounting external drives. Could this be connected?Â

Nov 25, 2010Every time I try to export a movie in iMovie or burn a disk in iDVD an error message pops up and says that my startup disk is full. So I bought an external hard drive and backed up my mac using Time Machine. Now I want to delete everything off my mac's internal Hard Drive and use my external hard drive so I can empty my disk. Does this make sense? If so will you please tell me how to do so.

Sep 18, 2010I create my own music and sometimes people ask if they can have it on a CD. Since I really do not want people to be able to rip it to their computer's I have denied these requests. However as the demand apparently grows and more people start asking I feel that I would really want to be able to share my music with them, securely. What I would like to do is burn a cd containing my music that people cant rip. I know there will always be some way of doing it, but fore the average computer user preventing mediaplayer/itunes from being able to rip the music will be enough to keep them from doing it.
