OS X :: Apps Not Showing Up In Dock / Dock Not Working Fine
Mar 31, 2009Today the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?

Mar 31, 2008i have a early 2008 octo mac pro, with it im using a philips 220ws, the problem i'm having is that scrolling a page be it safari, firefox or a pages doc. it seems to jutter along and doesnt move as smooth as my mac book,and when typing into either msn messenger, pages or even text edit letters seem to lag behind what im typing, ok it may only be for a secon and about 2 letters behind burt it gets annoying worse when back spacing. does anyone else have the problem or possible fix? im not using anything more than than the word processor, safari and msn at a time

Sep 11, 2010Just today I received about 6 e-mails that when I went to open them all I got was a blank page. I tried to delete them but can not seem to do so. When I hit delete nothing happens. The e-mails are from at least two different senders, both known to me and frequent exchangers of e-mails. Any idea of what the problem may be and how to correct it?

Jul 12, 2009I own a Aluminum MacBook (not pro) 2 GHz. I decided to hook it up to an external Vizio monitor. When I do this though, when the TV is the main screen half the dock is cut off at the bottom does anyone know how to fix this?

OS X :: Applications In Dock Suddenly Missing - Little Ball Showing Open
Apr 12, 2009I have an iBookG4 with Leopard. This morning I may have had too many applications going at once--camera applications plus listening to a talk using RealPlayer. Suddenly everything froze, but I got it all going again. However, now the little balls that appear under an application icon to show that the app. is open are missing. Also, when I click the icon, e.g., for Firefox which I'm using right now, the pop-up menu gives me the option to "Open" it, when, obviously, it's already open. There is no "Close" option in the menu anymore. I AM able to quit applications by clicking their name in the menu bar at the top of the screen. But I'm disturbed that this weirdness has happened. Things I've tried already, without effect:
1. Restarted computer. The computer won't shut down. Everything on my desktop disappears except for the wallpaper and the Dock.
2. Shut down computer (chose "Shut Down" as opposed to "Restart"). Same as #1. Won't shut down.
3. "Force Quit"--clicking on the Apple icon > Force Quit > clicking on the name of the application in the little window. Note: I haven't used Word this morning, but Apple icon > Force Quit > [little window] brought up a whole list of applications I haven't used, inc. Word.
4. Repair Disc Permissions

OS X :: Pages Update Not Showing In Software Update?
Apr 8, 2009I opened Pages earlier and it said there was an update. I didn't have time then so I dismissed and told it not to remind me about that update again.
Now Software Update isn't showing anything for it or iWork and I can't see anything on Apple's Downloads page.
How are apps "registered" with Software Update (so it knows to look for updates for them) because I remember having a similar problem before?
My Pages version is 4.0 (727). Is there actually a later version?
Safari :: Not Loading New Pages?
Feb 10, 2012On two different computers, Safari will occassionally (although it's getting more frequent), not load a page. I'll click on a link or a bookmark, it will put the address in the toolbar and the progress bar goes across, but it will stay on the current page. I'll reload the page and get the same effect (correct address, progress bar goes across, previous page) The toolbar has the new address, but the page will be the old page. Â
Quiting Safari resets it and it automatically goes to the new page upon reopening. Is there a way to keep Safari from doing this?

Safari :: Can't Click On New Web Pages
Apr 16, 2012Often when I click on a weblink, Safari tries to load the new page, but nothing. The web address shows up in the bar at the top, but no response. It happens often. But, even when I'm having trouble, navigating around in some closed community like Facebook works fine, so it's not an internet connection problem. (I thought it was a connection problem at first--poor wiring?--but since I can move around in Facebook, I'm dismissing that.)Â Also, it happens both when the computers are connected through the routers or directly via Ethernet to the AT&T U Verse modem. Â
This started when we switched from Comcast cable to AT&T, but there have been numerous Safari updates since then. I don't really think it is a Safari problem. The only PC on the home network doesn't show this problem (but it is an older, slow PC); both Macs on the network exhibit the problem. Happens whether we use the ethernet network or go wireless (non-Apple routers). Â

Jun 13, 2012Safari doesn't ask "are you sure you want to quit 2 pages?" How do you get that back? Because when im working on an application for instance and I accidentally command+Q another safari page instead of command+W, it all quits and when I relaunch all my information is gone.

Jun 28, 2012The logos and links on a website do not show on safari. For exampe, when I go on google the logo nor the search button shows. Also, on facebook non of the buttons at the top left (Friend requests, messages, and notifications) are visible but they work. HELP! OS X :: Safari 5.0 Not Loading Pages And Hanging?
Jun 11, 2010I've had constant trouble with Safari 5.0 not wanting to load a page or constantly hanging with what appears to be one or two items left to load from the page. Often, I have to stop Safari and then reload the page to get it to work. I noticed quite a few other people having the same type problem on Apple's support forums. So far nobody seems to have an answer. Anybody have any ideas as to what's going on here?
