MacBook Air :: IPhoto App Turned Into Question Mark On Dock And Launchpad
Sep 4, 2014I have a MacAir running OSX 10.9.4 and just recently was given it by the school district I work in. Over the weekend, I took it into the Mac store because my apps were still updating with the old users Apple ID. The apple genius was able to fix this and reinstalled the most current iLife software fixing the problem. However, just yesterday I noticed that there is now a ? on my dock for iPhoto as well as on my Launchpad. In my launchpad, I had two iPhoto icons, so I deleted one, a few days prior to this happening thinking it was a duplicate, but now that the question mark is showing up for iPhoto, I'm wondering if I accidentally deleted the app entirely. If this is the case, how do I get it back??? I use iPhoto all the time for work and I'm wondering if this is something I can fix at home, or if I need to go back to the Mac Store.

Mar 31, 2009Today the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?

May 21, 2012I turned off my macbook pro last night, then when I went to turn it on this morning, I got a flashing folder with a question mark. So I ran lion internet recovery. Disk utility came up and so I tried to repair the disk and reinstall lion osx, the problem is my mac HD isn't showing up, so I couldn't run either. I haven't turned off my mac in a few weeks, I usually just put it to sleep at night or let it go idle. How to back-up my files.

Jun 24, 2014I get this question mark along with a folder when starting up. I tried holding down the option key when turning on the power and then I get an internet recovery along with a globe. I click on the arrow below it and it takes maybe 15 minutes to start up. Then i get this disk utilities screen. I'm now unable to do anything. When going into disk utility, disk 0 shows with Mac OS X base system underneath it. All the clickable buttons are faded out. Is there something wrong with the hardrive? and where could i get this fixed? There isn't a warranty on it.

Mar 7, 2012So this is my first time really implementing Macs in an Active Directory environment and everything is going fairly well, except when it comes to the Home directory. All of my users are running 10.7, and with the latest patch, they can all log into the Domain without any issue. The problem is that their Home directory in the dock is displayed as a question mark. I'm guessing I'm missing something in the configuration, but everything looks right. Anyone have the 411 about how to set up a Mac user to map a Home directory to a network share on a Wiindows 2008 AD network?

May 15, 2009I more than likely user error but I've just switched from Windows and I copied all of my photos from a USB hard drive over to the laptop hard drive which I put in a folder called "My Photos" in the "Photos" folder already created by OSX. For some reason I can't find "Faces" to start grouping the photos. It's not even showing up on my laptop in iPhoto.

Sep 1, 2009I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?

Sep 13, 2009Earlier today I copied my iPhoto library file and the iPhoto prefs file to from my Mac Pro to my MacBook (using Chronosync's "mirror" option), for a week away from home.
I've now come to using iPhoto on my MacBook, and noticed that the thumbnails for my modified pictures had reverted to thumbnails of the originals. Clicking on any of these modified images just brings up a large exclamation mark on a grey circle background.
I know that this normally means that iPhoto cannot find the relevant file in the library (usually because someone's been messing around in the library - which I haven't; I took a mirror image), but the odd thing is if I click on "Edit", the image I'm then presented with is the modified image, so it's still there and iPhoto damn well knows it.
I've tried opening iPhoto with alt-opt to get it to rebuild everything, but it hasn't made any difference.
