MacBook :: White Circle With Line Through It Over Pages On Dock?
Jun 18, 2012
Why do I have a white circle with a line through it over Pages on my dock? This happened after I reinstalled Snow Leopard on my MacBook. How do I get rid of it?
I don't know how to really explain this but the Leopard 3D dock when in 3D mode has an annoying white bar at the bottom between the edge of the screen and the start of the glowing status indicators.
I got my laptop around a month ago and the lights were fine and i turned them off to save battery. Recently, i tried to turn them back on and it just comes up with a circle with a line through it meaning i can't do it. How can i make it work??
Has anyone seen and solved the issue of receiving a white screen on reboot with a slashed circle? Prior to rebooting the computer was running V-E-R-Y slowly. I saved my work and rebooted only to receive this screen.
Info:MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), new 512GB SSD installed 30days ago
My macbook pro will not start. It just goes to the white screen with the apple and the circular loading section but doesn't go further than that it just stays.
I'm reinstalling OSX Lion and I got as far as Command- R and the computer restarted and has been on a blank screen with a circle with a line going through it and the cursor has been spinning for about 50 min now....it never gave me an option to click reinstall What is it doing? Is it removing the current OSX?
I was minding my own business, listening to iTunes and chatting on Adium, when the little spinning wheel came up and my desktop froze - no big deal I thought, and restarted it. But on load up, all I was getting was a little 'No Entry circle with line through it' style symbol on the grey screen. After browsing various forums I tried to reset the pram, then I tried holding down 'x' on start up, at which point a very loud noise happened and now all I'm getting is a flashing folder with a ? in it appear, for about 2 minutes after which my MacBook turns off!
I've tried putting in my OS X install disk and holding down 'c' and 'd' on start up, but nothing is working? When I restard with the Option key held down; i get a 'EFI Boot' logo and a little arrow, which when I click; nothing happens I'm not in warranty and I don't have Apple Care There's nothing important on my harddrive so I don't care about losing Files, I just want to be able to re-install OS X 10.4, or restart it or what ever.
just wondering, my safari is refusing to load certain internet poges. The best example i can give is when i try to log into facebook, i click the "log in" button after entering my details and it doesnt load and then gives me the Blue circle underneath the cursor and stays like this until safari is quit.
ive tried resetting safari and even restarting the macbook but i dont know what can be causing it.
I just acquired a G4 MDD Power Mac. Dual 1 Ghz processors.I pulled the HD out of my older g4, connected it, and powered the machine up. The HD has OSX 10.5 and works fine in the older G4.
The first thing I notice is that the Small fan (in the door) is spinning, but the Large fan under the Power Supply is NOT. The red light on the Motherboard is on.
What happens is that all I get is a white screen, with the Apple Logo, and the spinning circle. it never acceses the hard drive and boots into 10.5 What does this point to? I hope the Dual processors are not the problem here. But that large fan not spinning worries me.
anyone has experienced a wide (2cm) white vertical line on a macbook pro. Screenshots are OK so it's not the GFX but hopefully someone may know if it is likely to be a cable or the actual LCD?Â
I was working on this machine 3 hours back. Thereafter I put the machine on standby mode. Now when i try to start the laptop, the icon for password does not appear. Instead a mouse curser sign and a circle [like freezing] appears on the screen.
My screen just started to occasionally have a flicker of a white line show up... It doesn't happen that often, should i worry? Is it worth taking it into apple? (Under warranty still) Since its not consistent i wont necessarily be able to show them what its doing..
now 8 months old macbook unibody (6,1) has a line missing in the lcd panel. Will apple replace it?
I really think it's a display issue. I've done the usuall supects (pram, reformat, repair premissions and everything).
And sometimes I get white boxes in the screen, but it passes the hardware test.
I've posted an screenshot with the line that's missing painted in red.
Edit: An screenshot of the mystery white box Edit2: Found out what is the problem of the lcd, it's one of that two polarizing filters that has fallen a little. Still not sure if apple will cover it
Everything is perfect except a white back light bleeding in a form of a line from above 3-4 inches from the bottom of the screen. Its only visible in solid black background.
I have a white vertical line down the right side of my internal brand new macbook pro 13" display. I've done the following:
-Shutdown the computer, and restarted in Safe Mode by pressing the Shift key after the restart tone
-Shutdown the computer, and restarted by pressing Command, Option, P & R after the restart tone
-Checked display resolution, Best for Retina
-Hooked it up to a Dell external monitor and via projection to screen. There are no lines on the external or secondary screens
-Just curious, I ran a color utility which can not repair 4 items, maybe this is another issue.Â
This is a brand new Macbook Pro, just out of the box. It was fine for two days without any issues, fine last night while in use, opened it up this morning with the line.
i tried several things like zapping the PRAM, open firmware, and taking out RAM. also took out my pci wireless card and usb card. nothing helped, but eventually it booted up. i thought that the hard drive was probably dead but i couldnt boot off a tiger install disc when i tried.its been having problems starting up everyday since then. sometimes it will boot with the circle spinning and just stay there. other times it will boot with some junk on the screen and the restart message underneath, boot up with no spinning circle, or have the apple change to a circle with a slash through it
I actually don't know how long I've had this problem, as I just sort of noticed it one day (it's not all that readily apparent). The title of this thread basically says it all. There's a "fuzzy," thin white(ish)/translucent band that stretches horizontally across my 15'' glossy MacBook Pro display (purchased in early 2010, so I guess it's considered a mid 2009 model), about an inch up from the bottom of the bezel. It's only super noticeable on top of relatively neutral colors. I'm quite certain that it's a hardware issue, as it doesn't appear in screenshots. I've attached a photograph to this thread so you can see it for yourself.. the band I'm talking about is just above the mouse pointer (and clearly my dock is hidden so you can see it easier). If there are any hardware savvy people here, I'd be most appreciative if you could clue me in to the exact nature of the problem, and whether or not you think I could fix it myself... I think my basic 1 year warranty is still good, but I haven't decided if the problem is worth living without my mac for a few days (or weeks? this is my first apple computer, so I don't know how long repairs typically take).
My partner's PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.67Ghz) which, of course, ended it's Applecare on June 28th, developed a glitch on the screen today: a white line that is 1 pixel wide and runs the length of the screen. It just started out of the blue - no dropping of computer, no power surge, no external reason. One minute it was fine the next it had this line.
Any body ever encounter a problem like this? And if so, how did you get rid of it (either repairing it via a technician or by oneself) and how much did it cost?
I'm betting it's a sign that it's time to get a new computer.
I bought my Imac at the beginning of '06 and it's been great but today a small white line appeared running vertically all the way down the screen and over the dock and menu bar. it's white during boot up and then yellow after everything is loaded..does anybody have an idea what this is or how to fix it?
I have an iMac 2.8 24 inch, about Two years old running 10.5.7 , when I start the computer it shows the normal Gray screen for about 30 seconds, then the screen goes all Black , but with a small flashing white line ( _ ) in the top Left hand side corner.
It just stays all Black for ever , I then hold down the On / Off button and turn off the computer, I then hold down the keyboard '' option key '' and press the on button at the same time , then I get the option to start from the main HDD , I click the Icon and the computer then starts normally , and every thing runs ok.
Can some one please tell me what I have to do to get my iMac to start up normally again , Ive run Repair Disk permissions but the problem still occurs . Over the last few day's Ive been trying out a few new applications, so not too sure if this has any thing to do with this current problem
I'm doing a fake resum for school, and I want two blocks of text on the same line, one left aligned, and one left aligned to the center of the page... but pages isn't letting me do so!
Is there a way to make it work? I tried making a separate text box, but it wasn't working for me, so I gave up.
It started when I was using an external monitor. There is a white line in the center of my screen on the desktop wallpaper. However it does not show up on any other screen. It does not change when I change wallpapers. I has to be a software issue because it only affects the wallpaper. Enclosed a pic of the problem.
