Safari :: Screen Suddenly Zooms In To Huge Size While Navigating

May 1, 2012

I am using a wireless mouse on my intel iMac, and when I am using Safari, and no other program, when I am navigating, the screen will suddenly zoom in and get huge. I don't think I am doing anything repeatable when this happens. I cannot do anything to zoom back out. So, I need to go back a page and start over at the normal screen size. This is annoying, especially when I have just reached a page I need to see.

This just started happening. Startup my Quad Core 2.66, with 10.6.8 (all SW updates), login, and screen zooms to maximum zoom with giant cursor in the middle. The only easy way get it back down to normal res is to do command+esc to get to Front Row, and then hit esc.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Safari Page Suddenly Doubles In Size?

Mar 28, 2012

With Lion, my Safari pages suddenly double in size with a slight movement of my mouse. Also, with Lion, when I leave my iMac for some period of time, the pages freezes and the cursor point pixilates when I move the mouse. I have to turn off the computer and put in my password to restore functions.

Safari :: Can't Stay Logged Into Sites After Navigating Away

Mar 2, 2012

I have a Macbook Pro(2009) with Safari Version 5.1.2 and I can't stay logged into websites. For example.... If I'm logged into facebook, I then navigate to google and then back to facebook, I will then be logged out. Now before you say it, yes, I check the keep me logged in buttons on sites and this is not even close to being exclusive to facebook, just merely an example. This also occurs if I stay on the web page I'm signed in on then open up, lets say, itunes. When I then go back to the webpage, I'm signed out again. This is rediculously frustrating. It makes safari completely unusable with any application or with multiple webpages. I usually love safari and never wanted to switch to any other browser but I don't think I can hold out much longer with this.

My view mode in Safari 5.1.3 seems to zoom in or zoom out on its own. I have Mac OSX 10.7.3. As I look at the tool bar on Safari now there is a white dot to the left of the word "View"

Has anyone else had this issue?

Any suggestions on how to prevent the random zooming?

MacBook Pro :: Huge Chunks Of Dust Smack In Middle Of Screen

Feb 16, 2010

I got my unibody MacBook right after they came out, probably Oct (?) 2008. I was gonna buy the AppleCare but didn't and now, there are huge chunks of dust smack in the middle of my screen. Any tips on what to do? I went to the Apple Store at the Mall of America and the Genius was a total dick, saying since it was past warranty, even though it's a manufacturing defect I have to pay to get it fixed. I live in Chicago so I didn't want it fixed there anyway, I wanted to see what they'd do.

I remember my gf has the white plastic one and when the plastic at the bottom was cracking they replaced it way after warranty since it was a known defect. Won't they do that for me too? I'm fully prepared to go in and raise total hell if necessary.

OS X :: Navigating To Different Windows Of Same Application

Sep 18, 2008

Please educate me if there is an elegant way of accomplishing this simple and common task from a long-time Windows user. Let's say I have Thunderbird or Mail open, and I start writing a new message on a new message window. Then momentarily I click behind it to the inbox to check something; say, to find another address I need. Now, the New Message window has become buried under the Inbox window, and since it's smaller than the Inbox, I can't click on it to bring it back forward (unless, of course, some edge of it is sticking out from under the inbox). If I was on windows, I'd just click on the New Message window's tile. The dock doesn't distinguish between different windows of the same program.

Using Expose is cool, except it takes me several keystrokes or a keystroke plus the mouse to find what I'm looking for (plus F9 isn't as easy to reach as ALT-Tab, IMO), especially if I've got a lot of windows open. I like in Windows being able to visually scan all of the windows that exist without having to move the mouse, and then only need one mouse click to get to that window. Perhaps there's a way to flip through the different windows in your current app? That would make things simpler and more elegant, but I certainly don't know how to do that. I'd love to hear your tips to make this transition go smoother! Alright, F10 does that, I just remembered! Also regarding Expose, if I've got several textedit windows open and they're all zoomed out (but with different file names), there's no way for me to identify them without first hovering over them to see their file names.

OS X :: Macbook Pro Locking Up When Navigating?

Jul 25, 2009

I have a 1yr old Macbook Pro running OSX Leopard 10.5.7 and it locks up on me 2-3 times a day. This happens when I am navagating through Entourage, browsing the web or really any program - it just does not matter. It seems that I will type a sentence, type in the search bar ect... then hit "go" and the pinwheel shows up and never goes away Hence lockup - the only way to move along is a hard reset - it wont even let force quit. I have noticed this problem getting progressively worse as the months go by.

I use this for work daily but not doing anything extrodinary - mainly spreadsheets, word, and powerpoint, entourge thats it!.

Laptops :: Navigating Single User Mode?

Aug 12, 2010

I need some help copying files from the desktop of my old iBook G4 1.33ghz laptop to another USB or Firewire drive. The drive recently gave out and I need to recover files. I've tried safe boot, fsck -fy, diskutil repairPermissions... nothing seems to work I just get I/O errors. DiskWarrior gets pretty far but freezes on overlapping files in step 6. Techtool Pro struggles on the drive related functions as well and freezes. I've also tried the fsck_hfs invalid sibling fix as well. Not sure if this drive is salvageable at all but I can get into single user mode and cd Users/username/Desktop and then ls Desktop and see all the Desktop files 2 screens worth (how do I scroll up in SUM?) and can actually navigate the directory listings fairly well, everything appears to be there... so I was hoping there'd be a way I could just copy all the Desktop files to something else but I am not fluent in unix and need help. The drive name is disk0s3... ideas?

OS X :: Strange Behavior When Navigating Terminal History

Nov 20, 2009

When I look through my bash history (by pressing up), occasionally the first 3 or 4 characters of a command will stay and push everything else forward. For example, suppose my last few commands were:

vi .bashrc
ls | grep D
cal

And then I was trying to edit .bashrc again. After hitting up three times my prompt would say:

$ ls |vi.bashrc

The command would still work as intended but seeing this is very strange and often confusing at first. I searched around and couldn't really find anyone else reporting this issue and was at least wondering if anyone knew how this could happen. I have a modified prompt, if that could cause it.......................

IMac :: Zooms In On Cursor After Startup

Started up last night, everything seemed fine. Got the desktop up, and then it zooms in on the cursor. I can move the cursor, but obviously I really can't do anything since the image it so large. the size of the cursor is about the size of the mouse. I've tried to reboot, restart, shut down and unplugged but I always get the same thing. It appears that a setting has somehow been changed to "extreme zoom". I have a G4 iMac, about 5 years old.

MacBook Pro :: Effect Of Screen Not Stretching To Full Size Of Screen
