Safari 5.1.5 Can't Open Online Pdf-get Black Screen
May 15, 2012
When I try to open a pdf online, I get a black screen with the address showing at the top of the window (where it should be). I can open pdfs on my iMac with no problem. I can also open the online pdfs with FireFox without a problem. I think this started happening after I installed the latest version of Adobe Reader. I'm running 10.6.8.
Trying to view a pdf in a government website using safari. I get a black screen if I switch and use firefox as the web browser I get a white screen. I have no problems viewing the page on a P.C. machine it works fine.
New to Mac computers. When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. I had to unplug the computer to reboot it. This has happened twice in 2 days.
I have updaed to adobe reader 10.1.3 and now when I try to view .pdf's in safari or foxfire it just has a black screen. When I try to save as is says is doesn't recognize .pdf.
since last night (monday) i have opened my mac book pro up for sleeping because i never shut my computer off....well last night i opened my computer up, typed in my password and then all of a sudden my screen went black....i called apple support and got it fixed but then again it happened again to me this morning? why is this?
Some of the movies in my library will not play. When they are opened the viewing screen shows black with the controller. I can move between chapters but the movie will not play.
When I open MacBook Pro (in sleep mode) I see rainbow on black screen. I have to keep the power button. I have this problem only when I open (after closing) my MBP. It started after an upgrade HHD to SSD (OCZ Agility 4). SMC reset did not help. I have MBP 13 late 2011 i5 2,4. Mac OS X 10.7.4.
My screen turned black while on safari, tried to restart by powering down. Now when I turn back on you can hear the Mac starting up but no tones and the screen is still black. Late 2011 iMac i5
Every url that I enter (bookmark, email link, etc.) comes up as 1 pixel by 1 pixel. That's all. It loads instantaneously, doesn't give me an "I cannot connect" error, and displays a blank white screen.
I've tried: many different links
- quitting and relaunching Safari
- reinitializing Safari
- I can still connect to the interweb via Mail, Firefox, iTunes.
I have a love/hate relationship with Safari right now. I love the actual browser, I hate the fact it won't allow me to download a thing. I'm not talking about downloading from illegal sites or going through any page redirects, I cannot download a thing at all. My page goes to a blackish screen and stops or it just stalls, flashes once and nothing happens.
Here's what I've checked for:
1). No, I don't have Speed Download installed or a plug-in/filter for it. 2). I don't have a com.apple.safari.plist file or even a safari folder in Application Support. 3). I'm running Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1 currently.
I've even uninstalled/reinstalled Safari with no luck. What the heck is going on with Safari???

I just bought MacBook Air and a bit confused.Firstly, i can't find how to add another language to the keyboard. Is it possible?Secondly, I open the Safari and it's on the half of the screen. How to may picture bigger? There is no sign stretch anywhere. And is it possible to open a few windows with safari like in iphone?
An automatic update for my Adobe Acrobat Reader installed today and I lost all capabilities of viewing online PDF's. I can still open ones on my desktop that were previously downloaded. I cannot download/save a PDF from the internet either using Safari. This is the first time this has happened. Should/how can I delete/uninstall Adobe Acrobate Reader and start over?
I am using MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.3. After an update of OS X, I cannot open pdf within Safari, It appears a gray screen. I tried several procedures in the forums, delete the plugin, restart, etc, but nothing.
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Fail open PDF in Safari
I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?
When I try to open an adobe file online my internet browser shuts down, and displays an error message stating unexpected error adobe cool type plug in. I'm not sure what they are referring to. I have tried to reinstall adobe with no luck.
When attempting to transfer money between accounts at my bank I click the Submit button and get the error: "The page must be fully loaded before this form is submitted." There is no error number or code given. The message is apparently generated by my bank's web server. The page is fully loaded. I don't get this error when I use IE on my XP PC unless the page is really not fully loaded.
How do I use another browser besides Safari? I have not been able to access my online bank account and the bank tells me that it is a Safari issue that the Mac people have been working on. I recently upgraded to Lion.
Anyone else here use Ally Bank in Safari? The purple bar winds up blocking account information and looks even more out of "alignment" on the account screens once logged in. When I adjust the size using the + and - adjustments, other page elements appear wrong. I have the most updated version of Safari (4.0.4) and OS X 10.6.2 on my iMac. (1680 X 1050) [URL].
