After updating Safari to version 5.1.4 on my Mac Pro OS 10.6.8, Safari will not block cookies
Info:Mac OS X (10.4.11), 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 2 GB DIMM
How can I block all/3rd party cookies in Safari 5.1.4? I've tried Privacy options; however, it appears blocking does not work.

We have a company, approx 32 macs, Lion Server, IP addresses distributed via LinkSys router. Aside from Parent Control and going via Terminal,I would like to know if there is a simple way of blocking access to certain websites? Are there any new apps which provide (hidden or out of sight) control for blocking websites?Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I surf the Internet I always have a Facebook.net cache cookie in Safari. I already have installed Glimmerblocker, Facebookblocker, AdBlock, Ghostery, and Facebook Disconnect plugins all with strict filters but nothing works. The option to block third-party cookies is enabled, of course. I don't see Like buttons on webpages anymore but the cookie comes again and again. How can I ban that terrible Facebook from my computer?

I have set my Safari Preferences originally to block cookies from advertisers and third parties, but it ignores that setting. Finally, I set it to block all cookies. It also ignores that setting. Is there any way to have Safari recognize it's own preference settings? By the way, I had to use Firefox to sign on here at the Apple Website today. Safari no longers seems to work with the Apple discussion site. Very odd.

stop selected cookies from being set in Safari? For instance, I would like to permanently block cookies from, say, Facebook and Google Analytics. I have tried clicking the radio button in Preferences>Privacy that supposedly blocks cookies from Third Parties and Advertisers, and like many other users I have found that it does nothing. I get just as many cookies from third parties and advertisers whether the button is clicked or not. As far as I can tell it’s a placebo.Â
Apple’s Safari help on this issue is suspiciously carefully worded. It says that if you click the radio button, “this MIGHT HELP prevent certain advertisers from storing cookies on your computer.” What?!! What’s with the “might” and “help”? Talk about weasel words! Does it work or doesn’t it? Is it so difficult for software to recognize and delete a cookie? I find it pretty hard to believe that the problem is technical and not, um, deliberate. Apple is, after all, in the information business just like all the other major players.Â
Anyway, the software that people usually recommend for zapping cookies is Safari Cookies, but that deletes them only when you quit Safari – in other words, after said cookies have reported back to their source. So what’s the point? By then they have done exactly what you are trying to stop them from doing. I want the cookies deleted when they are set – BEFORE my privacy is compromised.Â
Safari 7.0.4 does not block the In-app flash ads... I tried Glimmberblocker, Safari extension, actually downloaded safari adblock from their site. Non of them works. how to block the flash in-app ads?

I need a plug-in/add-on/application that will block certain websites I want at certain times. For example, block Youtube and Facebook from 4-6PM. Preferably these settings would be difficult or impossible to change once in place, haha. I want to be strict and not let myself procrastinate during the upcoming school year and I think this is the only way to actually do it.

What's up in Safari 5.1.3 Cookies. After removing all the website data, I recently chose "Block Cookies Always" After opening "Yahoo" in Safari, I looked at the "Privacy Preference Pane" again. It now reads "Block cookies Always" and says 37 websites stored cookies or other data. I looks like the choice to block cookies has little effect on Safari. Is there any way to protect yourself from unwanted cookies? By the way, in order to sign in to the Apple discussion website, cookies must be enabled.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my "block pop-up windows" checked in Safari 7.0.6 and yet I am still getting a lot of unwanted pop-up ads and am getting very frustrated each time I use my computer. If I deselect "Enable JavaScript and Allow plug-ins" as suggested from a May 29, 2014 post, I can't utilize my online banking.

I have just emailed myself a link from my Dad's Imac to mine and it worked fine.
Now I need to email one back to him and when I click on "Mail Link to This Page" or "Mail Contents of This Page" it won't let me do it.
The screen capture is attached.
Is there a way to stop loading contents of a page such as a flash video?Â

I have just purchase a new Mac Book pro 15" and find that Adobe Flash Player won't download onto it.Â
Without it Youtube content does not play when I am running Safari. Is there any way round this, or is Youtube off limits to Apple owners when running Safari.
I'm running Lion on an 27" iMac (first i7 iteration), and have a folder on an external HDD that contains a couple of hundred subfolders.Â
However - when viewing them in Finder, only the first hundred or so display.Â
The others are there - searching the disc finds the folders and their contents and, once, the contents are located, they'll display in the expanded view.Â
I copied the offending folder across to the Mac's main HD, but this behaviour came across with it. This, by the way, was happening on Snow Leopard too before I upgraded to Lion.Â

Since updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)

When attempting to transfer money between accounts at my bank I click the Submit button and get the error: "The page must be fully loaded before this form is submitted." There is no error number or code given. The message is apparently generated by my bank's web server. The page is fully loaded. I don't get this error when I use IE on my XP PC unless the page is really not fully loaded.

When I try to open a pdf online, I get a black screen with the address showing at the top of the window (where it should be). I can open pdfs on my iMac with no problem. I can also open the online pdfs with FireFox without a problem. I think this started happening after I installed the latest version of Adobe Reader. I'm running 10.6.8.

Anyone else here use Ally Bank in Safari? The purple bar winds up blocking account information and looks even more out of "alignment" on the account screens once logged in. When I adjust the size using the + and - adjustments, other page elements appear wrong. I have the most updated version of Safari (4.0.4) and OS X 10.6.2 on my iMac. (1680 X 1050) [URL].

Safari crashes frequently while I'm streaming video online. When the error report message appears, I type a comment, and when I try to send the report to Apple, I get the message that the report cannot be sent at this time; try later. Later never works. It's like Safari has been prohibited from communicating to Apple.

I get this error message when attempting to use AutoFill for signing into online accounts such as Amazon. I know that AutoFill uses information from Address Book to fill out the form - that's why I have a card in Address Book with my name and email address on it - but I'm still getting this error message when attempting to use AutoFill.
