OS X V10.7 Lion :: Any Tools That Can Resize FileVault2 Partitions?
May 14, 2012I just upgraded my HD to a 1T drive. I had recently reinstalled everything on the original HD, and enabled FileVault2 on the drive and didn't want to go through the tedious process of reinstalling everything. Instead, I used Clonzezilla to image the drive over. Everything works properly. My new drive boots as expected and everything on the FV2 partition shows up properly. Of course, now I would like to extend my FV2 partition to fill the remaining part of the disk. Are there any tools (3rd party or native) that allow me to resize my FV2 partition? Everything I have found to date indicates that I have to disable (decrypt) FV2, resize, and then re-enable FV2. Seems like an extremely long and arduous process. Has noone been able to write a utitility to extend the partition size without needing to decrypt everything? I'm running Lion 10.7.3.

Jun 16, 2012I have installed an the old xcode tools 1.0 on mainly by Accident on Lion. Now a lot of commands causes the error "the PowerPC architecture is no longer supported." A lot of programms are now buggy... Is there a way to fix that and uninstall the package?

Jul 4, 2012I want to download apple developer tools XCode on my iMac, but it says I need a later version of OSX. What are the downsides to installing the later version (Lion?). I currently have OS X version 10.6.8 on my iMac and it says I'm required to install version 10.7.3 or later. By the way, is the updated version provided free or do I have to buy it? I'm looking to do all of this so I can start to develop an App for my iPad..

Apr 21, 2012I have just bought a new MacBook Pro 13 (with Intel CPU), and I'm trying to set up my MBox 2, which came with Pro Tools 8 LE (m-powered).I'm getting the error message: "Unable to locate Digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. Click "Ok" when the hardware is ready."The USB socket's light on the MBox 2 does not light up, although the other lights are on as normal.I know this is a widely-encountered issue, and I think it is because this software is not compatible with OS X Lion but I have tried several things so far to isolate the problem:1) Have connected the MBox 2 to my Dell Window 7 laptop using the SAME USB cable and it works perfectly (suggesting the USB cable is okay and the USB socket on the MBox 2 is okay).2) Have tried installing the software and drivers from the Installation CD which came with the MBox 2 onto my MacBook three times, in case there was a problem with the installation. This is the same Installation CD I used to install them onto my Dell laptop which did work using the MBox and Pro Tools 8 LE setup (which suggests that the problem is either with the contents of the CD not being compatible or up to date for the MacBook Pro 13 / OS X Lion 10.7.03, or that there is another problem I need to address with one of these three devices/components)3) I have installed the later drivers for Pro Tools 9 (I believe it was for 9.0.6), although I don’t own the Pro Tools 9 software, so this is a newer driver being applied to my Pro Tools 8 LE software. After I did this, the MBox 2’s USB light DID come on!But… when I then tried to open Pro Tools 8 LE, I got an error: “CRITICAL ERROR - PRO TOOLS NEED TO BE REINITIALIZED” Then when I rebooted, each time I opened Pro Tools it said: "Pro Tools LE 8 has shut down unexpectedly. Please retry…”Could someone tell me if my set up is compatible please? Can a MacBook Pro 13 running OS X Lion 10.07.03 ever operate with a MBox 2 and Pro Tools LE 8?If so, what do I need to do in order to resolve this - is it simply that I need to power on the devices in a specific order?

Jun 2, 2014It would appear that the new iPhoto app that is being prepared for cross-platform use is being optimzed for cross-platform as iWork applications have been. The tools for altering photos only has a fraction of the tools currently available in Aperture (and even less than available in platforms like Lightroom. There had been hope that with the new iMac Pro that there was going to be a supercharged version of Aperture...but no mention at that role out, nor in today's WWDC.

May 6, 20121. Lion's (10.7.3) user interface becomes nonresponsive/'freezes': trackpad cursor moves, keyboard can be used for typing, BUT gestures stop working and "Dock" is not responding (it is hidden automatically).
2. Tere are frequent "nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: not responding nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: is alive again" error messages in Terminal while I am running 'find' command.
These error messages seem to be correlated witth the user interface 'freezes'.

Apr 1, 2012Anybody have the 12WX working correctly with lion with no previous wacom installed? hooked it up right away with no problems on a leopard mac pro. had working windows xp on virtual machine no problems.with imac lion, would not run the install drivers from disk (PPC). so installed the latest 6.2 driver and a bamboo intuos 3 driver as recomended by wacom. installed driver for pen. the bamboo driver worked for a day or so ( with no option keys working), but had 4 point calibration unlike the two point from leopard install.now, neither are recognizing a tablet connection, only works as monitor. uninstalled. tried an older driver 6.15. ran fix disk permissions, reset pram. restarted(+++). dis and re connected. reinstalled again and again. still no luck getting it running on a new mid 2011 imac with lion.

Apr 14, 2012I got Lion and now running into several problems. There Are files I still need to access and I keep getting "no powerpc tools" supported message. I am also running into problem with the finder. A mac friend helped me "re-boot" finder and Suggested I re-install Lion. That didn't work -- couldn't get the program to "reboot/re-download." Is there a way in which I can get programs/files to work in Lion? Can I revert back to Leopard or Snow Leopard and save the upgrade I purchased for later?

Feb 21, 2012First my apologies, not really a mac guy. My spouse installed Lion on her PacBook machine.
1: Itunes wont work, error refers to the fact that a new version was already loaded. I tried to pull from trash the old version buty it still wont work. I also re-installed Lion and it still gives the same error message.
2- Seems to lose "airport connection, thus forcing me to rest the wifi connection often
3- Browser in Safari looks different
4- Wiped out all of her contacts when she connected her iphone to system.

DVDs do work. the cd's are CD-R and do work on windows 7 and some are form a imac, most of the cd's have Photo's on them. here is what i get when putting in a Cd......... There was a problem opening the media. The media type is not supported. when I Restart the imac i get a message that the disk is unreadable even when it has no disk in it.

Since few days I'm no more able to play videos in iTunes (movies or video podcasts just get me a black square, audio working fine !). If I try to play some regular AVI with VLC, it crashes directly (I deleted all preferences but still the same) and all softwares using advanced graphic features such as Photoshop have issues or disable graphic features..I thought first it might be the graphic card so I changed it but still exactly the same..

Mar 27, 2012I've gone through some of the threads on here about this issue. I have tried adding my volume to privacy tab in spotlights preferences and removing it, but it wont even let me add it due to an error.
So I then tried command line indexing using sudo mdutil -E /, this just brings up the message in terminal no index.

Apr 10, 2012Using Lion, latest and fully updated. At some point in the past week or so the volume control stopped having an effect. Using either the keyboard function keys or the item in the task bar, the graphics look good and the blocks/slider move around just fine, but there is no effect whatsoever on sound output. I can control the volume in whatever app I'm using, whether it's a Web app or local app with its own volume control. But the system volume controls no longer have an effect. This is true whether or not I'm using the display output or headphones.

Apr 10, 2012I am using the latest Safari 5.1.5 on my MBP with OSX Lion 10.7.3.I noted that when I click on Reader in the URL line, sometimes I can't get the function to work. That is, I don't get the uncluttered view with the print option.I can manage without the function as there are other print commands and I use Evernote as well. I just wondered if the Reader function gets disable sometimes.To be clear, I am not referring to the Reading List function.
