finder defective, unresponsive (finder icon pops up and down on the dock, menubar flickers)Forced quit does not work, no remedy after deleting com.apple.finder.plist, after repairing the access rights, after restart with the shift key pressed..
Wasn't this an option previous to 10.7.4? It doesn't work now. When clicking the Finder icon in the Dock, a new Finder window would open? I know about Finder prefs - General - Always open folders in new window but this isn't what I mean.I'd have a Finder window open then want to copy/move something so I clicked on the Finder icon in the dock to get a new window.Every time I clicked the Dock icon, I'd get a new Finder window.
If Finder has been running for a while, and I have a number of finder windows open, when I option-command-w, the Finder crashes and then restarts with all the windows that just closed.Â
1. Lion's (10.7.3) user interface becomes nonresponsive/'freezes': trackpad cursor moves, keyboard can be used for typing, BUT gestures stop working and "Dock" is not responding (it is hidden automatically).Â
2. Tere are frequent "nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: not responding nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: is alive again" error messages in Terminal while I am running 'find' command.
These error messages seem to be correlated witth the user interface 'freezes'.Â
Anybody have the 12WX working correctly with lion with no previous wacom installed? hooked it up right away with no problems on a leopard mac pro. had working windows xp on virtual machine no problems.with imac lion, would not run the install drivers from disk (PPC). so installed the latest 6.2 driver and a bamboo intuos 3 driver as recomended by wacom. installed driver for pen. the bamboo driver worked for a day or so ( with no option keys working), but had 4 point calibration unlike the two point from leopard install.now, neither are recognizing a tablet connection, only works as monitor. uninstalled. tried an older driver 6.15. ran fix disk permissions, reset pram. restarted(+++). dis and re connected. reinstalled again and again. still no luck getting it running on a new mid 2011 imac with lion.
I'm running Lion 10.7.2 and have noticed in Finder that the contents of many folders aren't visible. This seems to be for newer files added. For example, I copied a folder from a thumb drive, into my (username) -> (Documents) folder. I see that folder name, but there are no files inside. When I "Get Info" about that folder, it tells me, as expected, there are 30 items, and almost a MB of data. Furthermore, when I back up to SuperDuper, I can actually see what I'm looking for - all files are there in that folder and for every other folder! In addition, searching in Spotlight finds any/all of the files contained within the folder. My problem, again, is that no files, none, not one, are visible in various folders, yet they exist, and are retrievable, via Spotlight. Should I do a disk check, or other recommended procedures?Â

There was a lot of stuff in the Software Upgrade tool that I recently installed (today). I worked for about half an hour until I noticed that the computer was extremly slow - so I looked in the Activity Monitor. I saw that Finder was using 2 GB of "real memory". So I restarted Finder.
After about 1 minute Finder was consuming 2 GB of real memory again. So i restarted my computer. After about 1 minute Finder was consuming 2 GB of memory - again. Currently Finder is using 1.71 GB of memory. What can I do? I can't work with a computer this slow, Also - can I shut down Finder completly so that it doesn't restart?
I have this weird and annoying problem with "show in finder".I used at one point that "defaults write -g NSFileViewer string different.plist.than.finder" to try to change the default finder, it didnt work, so I just "defaults delete -g NSFileViewer". So this is out of the way, I have no NSFileViewer in any file whatsoever. Now, for the weird stuff. If I use "show in finder" from the dock, nothing happens(neither cmd-click, of course). If I use it in safari's download list, it OPENS the file. If I use it in iTunes, on media or apps, it WORKS properly, it shows the item in the finder. If I use it in Xcode on a file in my project, it just switches to that file(so, basically, it just opens it just like Safari).
I tried deleting the dock and finder plist files in Preferences, didnt work. If I login with a different account it works properly. I really dont want to delete the whole preferences folder. I REALLY dont xD.I'm really stuck here, since all apps try and open the file(except Dock that does nothing) but iTunes works properly.if I use "Reveal in finder" in Spotify, it also opens the file(it starts to play in iTunes).if I use "Reveal in finder" in Forklift it just opens it as well.
I'm using eclipse and a need to select where the LibreOffice is installed. But the Finder.app don't permitte me to select the LibreOffice.app as a folder.
I have recently noticed that my finder looks different but only in one location. As you can see below (screen 1) the "Name, Date Modified, Size, Kind" bar at the top is white, even though if i go into a folder, it goes back to blue (screen 2). Also I am unable to sort (by name) when it is white. This only happenes on the root directory on my external hard drive. All other locations work normally.Â
I just upgraded to Lion- yes, I'm a late adopter- and now, my "Finder" won't open in the dock. I have repaired permissions, and I can "work around it" by clicking on my apple logo and doing a force quit on finder. After I do, the dock icon will work. However, if I then reboot, I'm back to square one.Â
I set up a Linux Mint Server with NFS after SSH doesnt worked now i want to connect to my Server i have /media/movies set free to use for my account, but when i try to connect it says it doesn´t find the server. When i go to a File on the server which isn´t set free to use it says i don´t have the right to connect so i think it finds the server. I´ve also connected my via Terminal but than it also says i don´t have the right to see this folder, but i tried it under windows and linux with the same id and it worked so i don´t know why it doesn´t work on apple.

How do I get Finder to open? When I click on the Finder icon on my Dock, nothing happens. The only option shown when I right-click is Open, which does not open it. Using Lion on a Macbook Pro.
In Lion, Finder opens in my home page. When I tell it to open in another folder, it remembers for about 3-4 days, and then goes back to to my home page. How can I get it to remember my preference?
I've tried to copy something from my NAS to the Mac and had to quit in the middle of the process.
Now, when the Finder connects to the NAS it crashes (icons disappear from the desktop, same do finder windows and bar). Tried Relaunch, nothing happens.
Tried Reboot, at first everything is ok, then (couple of minutes later) I get the message that the connection to the NAS was interrupted and then nothing works anymore.
System is updated, caches are cleared, all periodic scripts have been run...
I have 3 occurrencces of the same NAS one of which works perfectly, How do I remove the other 2? I have tried previous posted solutions but they keep on returning - I guess because the IP Address is valid and the device active. There must be a system file I can edit??
i copied a user folder from my old windows machine it was a ntfs hard dive to my dekstop. I can see the folder structure and the folder took a while to copy over but there are not files in the folders. They seem to be hidden?
For the last month, random icons have become blurry. Restarting fixes it temporarily, but it returs. PRAM reset does nothing, cleaning caches via Coctail is a temp fix. Disk utility is useless.Â

I created a lot of folders in Finder. I have to change Icon size, grid spacing, arrange and some more settings in view options. 'Cause it will take me hours to adjust these settings folder per folder I tried to use the "Use as defaults" command in view options... Doesn't work. (Other folders has the same old settings)Â How do i get the new view in all folders with only adjusting it one time for all folders?Â
I added some folders in finder sidebar a while back, and suddenly, they disappeared, such as the documents shortcut. When I try to put them back, finder removes it again. Also if I go to Finder - Preferences and try to check the documents shortcut to appear in sidebar again, the checkbox doesn't work. I'm pretty sure this happened after I synchronized my iPhone for the first time. How can I add favorites to the finder sidebar again?
