OS X V10.7 Lion :: Download Apple Developer Tools XCode On IMac?

I want to download apple developer tools XCode on my iMac, but it says I need a later version of OSX. What are the downsides to installing the later version (Lion?). I currently have OS X version 10.6.8 on my iMac and it says I'm required to install version 10.7.3 or later. By the way, is the updated version provided free or do I have to buy it? I'm looking to do all of this so I can start to develop an App for my iPad..

I've been trying to find a download of the Developement Tools for Jaguar on the Apple site and have failed.I know that it was released as a CD version with the installation CD set for Jaguar. I know that it was also available from Apple as a download. I also know that starting with Panther it was renamed Xcode. However the Developers download site does not seem to have any software covering the years 1998 to 2006. Does the download I want still exist on Apple's site - but I have not stumbled on the right place to go ?

I have installed an the old xcode tools 1.0 on mainly by Accident on Lion. Now a lot of commands causes the error "the PowerPC architecture is no longer supported." A lot of programms are now buggy... Is there a way to fix that and uninstall the package?

Every time I launch XCode 3.2 on SL and go to Documentation tab at Preferences, it ask me for a password.
I want to use it for Java, but when I try to create a new Project it does not appear there.

im trying to get rid of my 3.1.2 dev tools because im upgrading to 3.1.3 and i try this "sudo perl /Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl" but after i do that in terminal is says cant find the unistaller for devtools so can anyone help find a way to get rid of these devtools

So I'm an idiot I installed the developer tools cd not knowing WHAT the dilly yo was :-p and now I'm unable to take it out of my Hard Disk because it's owned by the system?? I'd kinda like to get this HD space back-how do i do that?

I can't download any widgets from apple's dashboard widget download page.I click on the "download" button of a selected widget, and it immediately takes me to the homepage of all apple downloads without doing anything.I've tried on safari & firefox, but the same thing happens.I just bought this computer the other day, so I'm running the latest versions of everything.

I just installed the Java update this morning and when I opened up my Macintosh HD later on in the afternoon I only had 5 folders when there used to be 6. When I went through time machine to figure out what the missing folder is it ended up being the Developer folder. I never use that folder, but I would still like to have all my folders intact.
Does anyone know if the Java update caused the Developer folder to go missing? If that folder is missing who knows what other app's or folders I have missing. I was able to restore of course from time machine, but I'm just curious on why it went missing in the first place. Does anyone have any clues/ideas?

I just found that it is great business to make apps for Apple.
I am from Lithuania and here we haven't any competitors in this business.
It is everything ok.
I found a programmer, who knows C++ well, but the problem is that he doesn't have a MacBook.
The question is that:
Can he write the code on windows, and put it on my apple? (I have one).

It would appear that the new iPhoto app that is being prepared for cross-platform use is being optimzed for cross-platform as iWork applications have been. The tools for altering photos only has a fraction of the tools currently available in Aperture (and even less than available in platforms like Lightroom. There had been hope that with the new iMac Pro that there was going to be a supercharged version of Aperture...but no mention at that role out, nor in today's WWDC.

Apple's Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system will include tools borrowed from the iPhone that let developers determine the geographical location of Macs, as well as extend additional support for multi-touch to their apps, AppleInsider has learned. People familiar with the latest pre-release distributions of the next-gen OS say the software now includes the CoreLocation framework previously available via the iPhone SDK, which will allow Mac applications to identify the current latitude and longitude of the Macs on which they're running. Since Macs don't include GPS technology like the iPhone 3G, CoreLocation will utilize a Mac's existing networking hardware to triangulate the system's location in a manner similar to the way the original iPhone was able to use the technology to emulate a true global positioning signal. Meanwhile, those same people say that developers writing applications for Snow Leopard will also gain access to a new set of Cocoa-based programing interfaces for leveraging the multi-touch features of the latest MacBooks and MacBook Pros within their applications. AppleInsider first revealed plans for the new multi-touch framework in a an article from last June titled "Five undisclosed features of Apple's Mac OS X Snow Leopard." The report noted that the framework would "consist of code libraries and functions that ordinary developers can use to enhance their applications with the same multi-touch capabilities currently available in Apple-born apps like Safari and iPhoto, and do so with ease." i need to uninstall xcode 4.3 because i found out my installation was corrupt. i used CleanMyMac to uninstall the app, but i can't dowload it from the app store because it sais it's still installed. i looked and the /Developer folder doesn't exist and neither does the app file in the applications folder.

Apple Mail keeps re-downloading all Gmail messages, even those that I've already deleted. If I go to the preferences/advance, it is simply not clear to me which option to choose. What I would like is to have a syncronized, up-to date view at all times. If I delete something here, I would like it to be deleted from the server as well.

I resent that Appple forces us to pay for and download Lion in order to switch to iCloud, a system that has many users furious. After downloading Lion, my personal cd archives from iTunes vanished, and several of my friends, on switching to iCloud, lost their mail contacts. YES - they followed the complicated instructions from Apple as to how to save everything, but so much fell apart. I had a chat with an Apple person and even she was mystified. I was going to buy an iPad but now I won't as just having an iMac is enough with so much difficult stuff going on.
