I just downloaded Lion, and it's not letting me use any of my Office products. There are big white circles with lines through them surrounding the icons for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. When I click ont he Word icon, I get the following message: "You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

I just updated my new macbook pro (OS X v. 7) yesterday and now I can't launch any Office 2011 programs. I have reinstalled and reinstalled form the Microsoft Backup disc and can't get it to work. All of the microsoft programs (Skype, word, excel, update utility, even error reporting, all) I regularly run on my macbook pro have stopped working. If I try to open an application or document the icon bounces on the dock, the graphic flashes on the screen (just like normal), then the crash report comes up. The crash report stays for a moment then the crash report for the crash report (Microsoft Error Reporting has quit unexpectedly) pops up.Â
I feel like this started after the latest software update from a few days ago but I can't be entirely certain of that. I don't know how to revert previous to the update to check if that is the problem.
I have restarted the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programs. I have updated the programs, as well as OS X.Â

I have Photoshop CS and microsoft office for my macbook pro with 10.5.6.
the programs were working fine untill about a week when my computer crashed during an update to 10.5.6. I had to reset the NRAM and PRAM, and then it started up working fine. now when i attempt to open and office program or photoshop, they dont open and it says it has closed unexpectedly.
Also, when i try to reinstal it from the disk, the intallation app closes unexpectedly as well.
Since the crash, safari and firefox open, but i have to reset and relaunch it every time.
This happened to me once before, but i ended up bringing my computer into the mac store and hey fixed it, but i am wondering if there is a way i can do it without having to bring it and not have my computer for a day.
I've been trying to find out how to access google talk/msn/aim on my office computer that has those main websites blocked including [URL]Anybody else have any good suggestions that will allow me to bypass and is pretty secure?

I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I either receive or place a FaceTime call on my MacBook Pro, the left speaker cuts out audio and produces high static. The right speaker is fine. The receiving end can also hear the static feedback, but their two speakers work fine. I have all my iOS devices setup to receive and place FaceTime calls (iPhone 5s, iPad, and MacBook Pro 15 inch late 2011). If I place or receive the FaceTime calls on my iPhone or iPad, there is no problem.  I've tested the speakers, youtube, iTunes audio, streaming websites, netflix, etc... and all works fine on the MacBook Pro. Just FaceTime. I also went into system preferences and the speaker setup is correct (audio in and out - internal speakers). I've also restarted, reinstalled Yosemite...still FaceTime left speaker problem.

For the past few weeks (maybe months) I've been experiencing a problem with my spell check while typing feature. Up until this evening I could even have it checked off in Adium, but after I downloaded the MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.5 file (something someone suggested in another thread) the spelling options are all greyed out completely. I have restarted Adium a few times to try to fix it to no avail.
The checker works fine in Safari, but when I use Adium it doesn't work. I found a thread on another site that suggested moving one of the Dictionary files to the desktop, and also holding option, command, p and r down at the same time. That second tip seemed to work a while ago, but since then I can't get it to work again.
I read somewhere that the spell check was messed up because of one of the recent apple updates. I feel like I've had it in other programs too I just can't think of them at the moment.
I mistakenly installed microsoft office 2004 (Upgrade edition), which requires office 2001 for it to work, onto my computer before discovering it wasn't the actual package. I then removed it (or thought I did) so I could install Microsoft Office 2004. When I try to open any of the office applications I'm told that I need to locate microsoft office 2001 because it thinks it is still the upgrade

It keeps asking to update then close cuz it says nothing to update and then there is nothing so I do it again same thing. Just doesn't open. And I googled and I know a lot of people have had this problem. I also deleted the 2 files that most ppl said should work but when I put in my serial key after I deleted it the "continue" button doesn't take it to next page. It keeps getting clicked but it doesn't respond.

I've been using Office X for some time. I bought Office 2004 for Mac (Student Teacher Edition) from a friend who upgraded last May. I got the manual and the Product ID with it. I never got around to Installing it, but my hard drive failed recently and Apple replaced it, obviously without any of my stuff on it. So I decided if I have to reinstall all my software, I'd go ahead and use the Office 2004 as I don't think the Office X is fully compatible with Tiger (because of it's age and a few issues I've had with it over the past two years). Now, here's the problem. When I tried to install it, the product ID didn't work as the Product/CD Key.
I called my friend and she no longer has the box or the Product Key, and of course, the Product key from my Office X doesn't work. Is anyone familiar with Office 2004 for Mac? Is there any difference between the "retail" version and the Student/teacher version that would prevent the Product Key from one with working with the other? Would anyone be willing to share their Product key with me, to install the software so I can get back to work? I've already lost 4 days in time (and have to recreate 2 days worth of work that was done after my last file backup) and don't have time to deal with this stuff.

View 5 Replies View RelatedInstalled MSOffice on my MBP with SL already installed. Office immediately wants to be updated with a "critical update" which is 200+ MB. Nearing the end of the update I get a message that says the update had a technical error, and it then shuts down. After this nothing in Office works.
Then I tried to post a message on MS's Mactopia forum and it won't let me log in. So I can't post, and I can't create a new account.I dragged the corrupted Office to the trash (their uninstall program wouldn't work either). Reinstalled Office and everything works. But it's not updated.
My copy of Office for Mac 2004 Entourage 11.4.0 was corrupted today when downloading mail. Accessing mail via Blackberry 8330 showed that physical gaps were email messages that weren't in Entourage Inbox.
When I attempted to do anything--click in gaps to get missing messages, delete messages, etc., I got a screen saying Unknown Error (4362).
My Macbook Pro was working fine when suddenly Safari froze, so I forced quit. After opening Safari again, the page just stayed white and wouldn't load. None of my other programs requiring internet are working either (ie. AIM, Skype), even though my internet connection is listed as connected and other devices using Wifi are working perfectly. Could this be some sort of virus?

I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
I bought a MacBook Pro this summer. It had a free Lion upgrade due to the timing. I just upgraded, and now I can't open iPhoto, iTunes, etc. This is NOT COOL... I would not have installed this Lion crap if I'd known it would mess with my programs! I don't want a link to pay MORE money to Apple, I want my freaking computer to work like I paid for.

I suddenly have a problem where I can't add or remove programs from the dock. When I try to drag a program icon to the dock it won't stick to it and shows a "+" next to it in green. When I try to drag an icon off the dock it shows a shadow of the icon that won't go away. I tried making a new user and the same behavior occurs in that user. I tried finding my com.apple.dock.plist but couldn't locate it. I was able to find com.apple.dockfixup.plist and tried deleting.
