OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Wrong Email Seen By Recipient?
Apr 11, 2012
my colleague has set up an email account on his macbook pro 10.7 and when he sends an email out the recipients see the email address as glen with one n rather than glenn. so when people reply they send to something that is not there and get a return to sender. This is strange as the sent address in the settings is glenn not glen. Â
This isn't a server issue as it is on his work imac g5 computer and sends correctly. It must be an error when putting the info in but I can't see where. it is an outlook Exchange mail server and not with our company so i can't look at the settings in that.is there a simple way to sort this out or, if not how can I remove the email account, set it up again but retain the old emails?Â

Suddenly having problems with sending emails via Mail for Mac. Some, but not all, messages show in the display window as having been sent to the wrong recipient. However, when you click on them, the details shown are correct and they seem to be getting through to the intended address. So it's a display issue of some sort rather than Mail actually sending to the wrong place. Can't find any reference to this issue in Mail Help or online forums.I'm running OSX 10.4.11, Mail 2.1.3.

MBP, OS X 10.4.11, Mail v2.1.3.
I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.

I have 4 email addresses. Messages for one of the addresses comes in via the wrong inbox and I dont know why. I have 4 inboxes displaying in the left hand (mailbox) pane, under inboxes, but only 3 seem to be working properly. I have only 3 accounts displayed in the left hand pane under the inboxes. I do however receive messages, and am able to send, from all four addresses. I need to separate out the accounts and get the fourth account in the mailbox pane, but dont know how. I cant see any obvious settings that appear wrong. 2 of the addresses are gmail, 1 is a @me address and the problem one is an external address. Mail v5.2 (1257)Mac OSX v 10.7.3

I recently upgraded to Leopard. My boss just informed me that my email signature does not show up when he receives mail from me. When I BCC myself, the signature is there. I have done a short experiment with my friends and about 50% don't see my signature.

Mail is showing one of my IMAP mailbox inboxes as having 8 unread messages, but there's only 1. I've created a smart mailbox to show only unread messages, and even though there's only one message in there, the badge on the smart mailbox also shows 8. I've quit and restarted Mail in case it was a cache problem, but that made no difference.

I''m using Mac Mail for all my mail account (4 of them) and they all work perfectly except for one of my account that is connected through Exchange. The problem is that all the mails are showing my name instead of the sender's name. Every time is switch to another mailbox and comeback to this one (which is my professional mailbox), inbox shows sender's name for 2 minutes, until it refreshes itself. Then, it goes back to showing my name instead of sender's name. Â OS X Version 10.9.3 (13D65)Â

My husband and I both use our one alias iCloud mail accounts. Both the alias and the main account were created in my name (not his) and yet his name appears as the sender and recipient on messages sent and received through the alias. I've rechecked settings in iCloud and his name is not anywhere. Why is this happening and how can I change it so that my name rather than his appears on messages?

Is there away to imitate the windows action: send file as attachement? You know, in windows you can right-click any file and choose to "send to mail recipient". This is very useful! How can I do it in osx leopard?
If it is not possible is there a keyboard shortcut that gets you directly to a new email message?

When I email someone, the recipient does not see a "From: ..." line at the top of the email. I have tried to make 'mail'/preferences show the 'From' line, but I must be doing something wrong.I have figured out how to put a signature at the bottom of every email, but people still write saying "why is there no "from" line?"Â

When my ISP changed from Patmedia to Comcast I changed all my iCal notifications to my new email address. I deleted all references to my old address in Address Book on my computer and on the Mobil Me Address Book as well as deleting the address in Previous Recipients in Mail. I am getting mail from "postmaster@mac.com" that it can't deliver mail to my old mail address. So iCal is still trying to send a reoccurring reminder to this addressfrom somewhere. How can I address this problem? PowerPC G5 Mac, OS 10.5.8, Mail 3.6, iCal 3.0.8

Also have deleted the outgoing mail server.(when you delete a mail account it doesn't automatically delete the out going mail server)I have another computer with the same email account and it works fine Finally I unchecked use SSL and The account can now send emails.User name and password are set correctly.I talked to apple and they are blaming it on Frontier.I have read other posts here about ssl problems with 10.7.2 and Imap accounts?

I've had this problem with every single MacBook I've owned running on Leopard, Snow Leopard and now on my Lion one too!Does anyone know how to stop it? It seems to be worse than ever on my new Lion OS MacBook Air.I have Yahoo!, iCloud, Hotmail and BT Internet email addresses in my mail app. Every two minutes the dock icon starts bouncing and it's requesting the password for one of them. Everytime I tick the box saying "remember this in my keychain" but no sooner have I done that and it pops back up again requesting the password that I have just entered. I am entering the correct passwords and all email addresses are active. It's really winding me up at the moment as I keep having to quit the mail app because I can't stop it from asking for passwords. This MacBook is brand new. I only got it delivered from Apple last week!Â
