Jun 17, 2012Tried to turn off computer and it kept prompting me to force quite various applications. I have since restarted the computer but now am getting this error when trying to open Finder. I have looked through several discussions and unfortunately am not an apple expert so much of what I am reading is foreign to me.I have opened the Terminal and entered a prompt that made all of my desktop docs and finder visable, but as soon as I closed out the Terminal it all disappeared again.Can anyone point me in the right direction - step by step - to get Finder back up and running.To my knowledge all other applications seem to be working as normal.FYI I do have a few extermal items attached to the Mac. (1) extermanl hard drive for the Time Machine, and USB drive.

Apr 23, 2012i just received a DVD with a video on it.When I put the DVD in the drive, I can see a folder with a "No Entry" sign at the lower right corner.When I double click on the folder, following message comes up:The folder DVD_RTAV can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents" Under Info, it does not show any size.Under Sharing and Permission, it says: You have no access. I enabled "Shared Folder" but nothing chanded. It does not even say, it is password protected, otherwise it would ask me for a password. How can I open that folder?Would there be any software able to read it>I have no idea, what the video file format is, because I can not read anything.I tried it on the Mac Pro and also on my MBP, so it can not be a drive problem.I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

Sep 24, 2009Used to run Flip4Mac Pro Version 2.2.3.7 with Quicktime 7 Pro on Leopard.Upgraded to Snow Leopard and got the 'Quicktime must be installed on this machine...' messages. OK, fair enough. Known issue.
Installed the Snow Leopard compatible 2.3.0.11-BETA with Pro licence but now have lost the ability to trim movies once they are opened in the Quicktime X window. However, if I navigate and open with Quicktime 7 Pro I can trim them.
Can anyone explain I should expect to happening and/or if this a bug or what?

They show up as a Info type message in Console. No real problem, just curious if anyone else is seeing that.
OS X :: Getting Info And Snow Leopard Either Bugged Or Broken
Sep 19, 2009Wanted to get the file size for all the files in a folder. Common sense would lead someone to believe that if that have 40 things selected and you ask for the info on them, it would give you all the info in one thing (ie total size, file types etc) but 10.6 is just being stupid about it: are there any other ways (or patchs) to stop this from happening?

Nov 7, 2009OK in Leopard I could always select a bunch of files, right click and get info, then change the permissions to Read and Write for Everyone and Leopard would apply it to all files selected. Now, when I try the same thing in Snow Leopard it actually opens the get info window for every individual file selected and I have to manually apply it to each one. Does anyone know how to go back to the old way?

Some, but not all, messages show in the display window as having been sent to the wrong recipient.However, when you click on them, the details shown are correct and they seem to be getting through to the intended address. So it's a display issue of some sort rather than Mail actually sending to the wrong place.Can't find any reference to this issue in Mail Help or online forums.I'm running OSX 10.4.11, Mail 2.1.3.

Jun 28, 2012We have several hundred files that were converted recently to a different file format. The conversion process caused all the new files to have today's date but did not change the file names. I am looking for a way to pull the create/modify dates from the original files and apply them to the converted files so the new files will have their original dates. All of the original files had different dates, so I can't just apply a certain date to the converted files.

Apr 11, 2012my colleague has set up an email account on his macbook pro 10.7 and when he sends an email out the recipients see the email address as glen with one n rather than glenn. so when people reply they send to something that is not there and get a return to sender. This is strange as the sent address in the settings is glenn not glen.
This isn't a server issue as it is on his work imac g5 computer and sends correctly. It must be an error when putting the info in but I can't see where. it is an outlook Exchange mail server and not with our company so i can't look at the settings in that.is there a simple way to sort this out or, if not how can I remove the email account, set it up again but retain the old emails?

Jun 5, 2014I''m using Mac Mail for all my mail account (4 of them) and they all work perfectly except for one of my account that is connected through Exchange. The problem is that all the mails are showing my name instead of the sender's name. Every time is switch to another mailbox and comeback to this one (which is my professional mailbox), inbox shows sender's name for 2 minutes, until it refreshes itself. Then, it goes back to showing my name instead of sender's name. OS X Version 10.9.3 (13D65)

Dec 11, 2014My husband and I both use our one alias iCloud mail accounts. Both the alias and the main account were created in my name (not his) and yet his name appears as the sender and recipient on messages sent and received through the alias. I've rechecked settings in iCloud and his name is not anywhere. Why is this happening and how can I change it so that my name rather than his appears on messages?

Feb 4, 2012I have a rule that copies an email to the ON MY MAC and then another that MOVES TO A FOLDER in Mobileme. They are in this order. The problem is when I quit Mail the Folder I am copying to is changed to the Mobileme folder so I end up with a duplicate. It doesn't change until Mail is quit. The other odd part, there one arragement like this that did savef at some point and works as expected.
I have tried having both of these rules combined into 1 and have the same results.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Mac Mail Loses All Mail In Inbox Except For One Message
Apr 11, 2012One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail. The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.
