In LIon 10.7.4Â Â Mail 5.2
The Mail [program shows the wrong number of unread emails. It always shows 6. the online mail shows a correct number.Â

Mail is showing one of my IMAP mailbox inboxes as having 8 unread messages, but there's only 1. I've created a smart mailbox to show only unread messages, and even though there's only one message in there, the badge on the smart mailbox also shows 8. I've quit and restarted Mail in case it was a cache problem, but that made no difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

Although the number of unread messages is properly shown under Inbox on the Mailboxes list next to two of my three Mail accounts, the other one shows none when there some. The quantity is also missing from the total number of messages next to Inbox when I collapse the list. This was working fine for many years.Â

My Mail Icon shows 3 unread messages. When I open Mail, my iCloud account icon shows only 1 unread message which I cannot find. When I check iCloud.com, there are no unread messages. I have multiple accounts to access and multiple within each account. I have searched all accounts and files; I have checked "Mark all as Unread", then checked "Mark all as Read", but same reaction.

We updated our computer to a new system over the weekend (emac to a new iMac). Since then the number of unread messages shows up on the mail icon only all messages have been read. How do I get rid of the number icon? We had this problem once before when we upgraded our system but I don't remember how we got rid of it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe iCloud account in Mail displays 1 unread message when all are read. I am unable to "mark all messages as read" to remove the 1 unread message icon. When I send multiple test emails to the iCloud account, it still only displays 1 unread message when there are more. The iCloud account on my iOS devices correctly displays the number of unread email messages.

I cannot seem to have the number of unread messages in my mailbox appear to the right of the inbox label. It used to be there, and I have another account set up in Mail and the number appears next to it when there is an unread message. It's just this one account.Here is a picture of what it is like, even though there is an unread message in the mailbox.I want the number of unread messages to be next to Gmail on the right.Also, the number of unread messages for the Gmail account do not appear on the Dock icon.Both of these functions work with my other account that is set up in Mail, and that account is a Gmail as well.

After updating to Yosemite, my iMac shows a badge of 1 flagged message in OS X Mail, even though there are no flagged messages. If I do flag a message, the counter increments by one, and if I unflag a flagged message, it decrements by one, as it should. But it always shows one more flagged message than actually exists. If I click on the "flagged" messages on the left when it shows a badge number of 1, there are no flagged messages that appear on the right.Â
What is funny is that I have the exact same mail accounts on my macBook Air, and it does not have this problem at all.Â
How can I "reset" the number of flagged messages on my iMac?Â

I continue to see messages in my mail folders that have the header information (From / Subject / Date) from one message in the message listings, and the From / Subject / Date of a DIFFERENT message in the message preview.Â
This is NOT Google. The IMAP server is from InMotion Hosting. On the server, the messages are accurate: the From / Subject / Date information is attached to the message body it represents. It is only in Mail that the information gets scrambled.Â
I have used the Rebuild for this mailbox, which usually corrects the problem. On occasion, I have to delete the mail account from Mail and add it back in again to force an accurate rebuild.Â

On my dock the message icon is showing 1 unread message. I click and it comes up saying I have an unread message from a number I have no knowledge of. I click on this and it just opens up the messages app on the last received message. I do not have a text from the number and question so can't view or delete it.

I upgraded to Lion and now Mail will not show new or unread messages. I can see the mail come into the mailboxes via the activity bar but nothing shows in the inbox panes for any mailbox.I have tried every preference/view/setting I can with no success.The mail dock icon says I have 39 new unread mail...so where are they?Â

I am trying to use my gmail account through the mail application, however it is marking all my emails, even ones from when I first made my account, as unread is there a way to sync it so it can tell when I have read an email on gmail.com and mark it as unread? Also is there a way to synch the various labels that I have created on gmail?

For some reason, my mail icon is no longer showing my badge icon displaying the number of unread emails I have. Within mail, next to my mailbox, it no longer shows the number of unread emails either even though there are clearly email messages with the blue dot indicating they're unread.

I'm using mail on various machines to access an Exchange server account. It generally works with no problems, but on my work MacPro (and only on this computer not the iMac at home, various laptops, iPad, iPhone etc) mail tells me there is an unread message. However, I can't find this message and it's not there when I use a webmail interface to access the same account. No problem, I figured I could just right click on the mailbox and 'mark all messages as read', but this doesn't work! I like to keep a clear inbox with no unread messages

(mine is about 1 1/2 yrs old) I thought with a mac this might be different, but no dice...4 GB really should be enough, certainly for the programs I have open that show in the screenshot..(I have plenty of free room in HD, by the way, so that's not the problem)

my colleague has set up an email account on his macbook pro 10.7 and when he sends an email out the recipients see the email address as glen with one n rather than glenn. so when people reply they send to something that is not there and get a return to sender. This is strange as the sent address in the settings is glenn not glen. Â
This isn't a server issue as it is on his work imac g5 computer and sends correctly. It must be an error when putting the info in but I can't see where. it is an outlook Exchange mail server and not with our company so i can't look at the settings in that.is there a simple way to sort this out or, if not how can I remove the email account, set it up again but retain the old emails?Â

I got a new MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.3. I am using Mail and from some reason my top conversation (my emails are organized by conversations) always shows up as "unread" with the blue dot next to it even though I click on it and read all the emails in this conversation. The problem goes away if I quit Mail and relaunch it.

I use an IMAP email account (provided by AOL) and every time I send an email it then comes in to my AOL sent items folder and displays an unread count on mail.app. It's infuriating.
I think imap stores the sent mail on it's server and I think I'm subscribed to all these folders so when it receives my sent mail, it sends a copy back to me.
I have tried creating a rule that mark all messages from me as read, but to no avail, it still does it anyway.
Mail on my iMac under Snow Leopard no longer bullet marks unread mail.

I purchased a MBP early 2011 which I needed to return for replacement 3 days later. This was done on the spot and a replacement invoice was to be emailed to me. I purchased AppleCare with my original MBP and I was told that this would automatically transfer and be registered with my replacement model. I must say I was pretty impressed with the speed and hassle-free nature of the service (for my first ever Mac as well). Unfortunately, I have just checked the status of my Apple Care and noted that it was listed as expired !!!Â
Doing my research, it appears that on the invoice for the 'replacement' unit they sent me, they listed the original (faulty unit) serial number for both the unit that was returned, and the replacement unit. This was obviously an error because they gave me a brand new unit in a new box and I am typing on it right now. I also noted that they 'returned' my old AppleCare Agreement and applied a 'new' AppleCare Agreement (with new agreement number) but it has the returned MBP serial number listed (not the new one)!Â
I am looking for suggestions on how to get this rectified for the following reasons:Â
- I need my Apple Care that I paid for to be applied to the correct unit
- I need my current Apple MBP to be registered to me as the owner (I have no idea who they would have it registered to at the moment given the invoice is incorrect .........)Â

I have setup profile manager. Trusted profile is installed.When a user logs in the profile is added. In the profile the users email address is correct. When I get my email from the email icon on the desktop, it is not from the person it says it is from when I click on the name of the sender.And the mail that appears is not listed on the left with the mail received list.If I go to Safari and that to ICloud I can find the mail from the person listed, but the wrong mail that appeared doesn't show up as sent.
