I've tried and tried to save it but it just stays blank. I've deleted the email account several times but without success. I've also noticed that Safari will not save my internet login password. I'm staying in a hotel and every 24 hours or so, I'll need to re-login. Using SL & Safari the username stays there but not the password. Before the SL install everything was fine, my email password and the hotel username & password would always be input and remembered.

Mail is making me mad I'm sure about all settings like SMTP, and other details are right. There is no problem to get email, but when I try to send it keeps asking password! and not sending! Can it be something about security settings or anything else? I'm pretty new at mac, I dont know many details.

My iCloud email works without any problems usually. But I keep getting this message at random times — usually after I quit mail, or my computer goes to sleep:What do I do? Is there a correct way to set up iCloud on my Mac's mail in order to avoid this? I'm running the latest Lion Mail on the latest MacBook Pro.Â
"Enter Password for Account "iCloud" — The iCloud IMAP server "p01-imap.mail.me.com" rejected the password for user "example" — Enter your password again or cancel. — Remember this password in my keychain"

I first synced it via Mobile Me and when the password wouldn't save, I deleted the comcast email account and started fresh but it still keeps asking for password. I know I have the correct password inserted because I went to the web site email and logged in with the same password I'm using in Mail.

Is there a way to have a different mail password instead of using the one that you use to login to Lion directly? Currently the two are the same login password = mail password.I'd like to have a different password for the two.Is this possible whether via command line or otherwise?

I have a mac mini and macbook pro.  As you will see, the issues are complex. I spoke to both Apple and my server many times: all determined to help solve the issue as a technical problem, but rather complacent about the strong possibility of new malware. Both ended up basically with 'dunno'.   Needless to say, I backup regularly via time machine. These probs represent the downside!  My workplace techs said one was probably flashback (dealt with as per apple advice), the other like dnschanger - but a new and more invidious version. I'm probably giving away too much information, but it's a bit late to worry about that. Â
Both did different things AT THE SAME TIME, with the same sites. Therefore, it was definitely not a server issue. Both were consistent.I've had odd behaviour: redirect included bypassing my proxy server and going online despite not putting in login details, and after logging in: in both instances, I was taken to Wikipedia front page. Also:Many times, lists of links instead of genuine front pages: Apple and server. Only 'big names' seemed affected. Other times, it looked ok but when I clicked on links I got nothing. I had problems logging on to App store and broadband provider, as well as software sites (2 x legit big apple-oriented companies). After the going online and redirect issue above, I decided to create new apple id and o2 email. I did a secure (as far as it goes) 7-layer wipe of the macbook, and reinstalled.Within a week, I had odd behaviours again. Two examples:

In Mail, I know how to go to Mail > Preferences to set up a password. I currently have a password set in this manner. When I open the Mail app, I can receive and send email without having to key in a password. What I want, however, is for Mail to prompt me for a password each time I start up the app. Is there a way to do this? As FYI, I do not want to store my Mail password in Keychain.

Mac Mail keeps asking me for my mail password... this never happened with Windows... and it's really getting annoying..
Does anyone have a fix for this, I've tried resetting... restarting, re-entering the password in preferences. As soon as I re-enter the password at the prompt, no issue, I receive mail... but 30 secs later it asks me again...Â

I'm having a hard time with this. My Yahoo! mail keeps asking for my password when I know I type it in correctly. I check the box where it says "Remember my password in keychain". Here is what I have done to solve it:Â
Reset / repair keychain in keychain preferences.Â
Reinstall Mac OS X LionÂ
Reformatted my SSD and put Lion on again.Â
Tried deleting the com.apple.mail.plist in ~/Library/PreferencesÂ
To no avail, it still keeps asking for my password. Keychain must have become corrupted as far as my Yahoo! mail is concerned.Â
Here is the specs on my computer: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4, 120 GB Intel SSD in Bay 1 (OS HD) and 500 GB WD Scorpio Blue (Data HDD) + 8 GB RAM. I have my account linked up to my 500 GB WD Data HDD and not my SSD. I am sure it has something to do with that, I am just not sure how to fix it. Â

I am having a problem with sending mail in 10.7.3 and mail 5.2 The email account is a pop3 account. It worked fine for a long time.Last week it started to fail to send outgoing emails I have deleted the account and added it back. Also have deleted the outgoing mail server.(when you delete a mail account it doesn't automatically delete the out going mail server)I have another computer with the same email account and it works fine Finally I unchecked use SSL and The account can now send emails.User name and password are set correctly.I talked to apple and they are blaming it on Frontier.I have read other posts here about ssl problems with 10.7.2 and Imap accounts?

I've had this problem with every single MacBook I've owned running on Leopard, Snow Leopard and now on my Lion one too!Does anyone know how to stop it? It seems to be worse than ever on my new Lion OS MacBook Air.I have Yahoo!, iCloud, Hotmail and BT Internet email addresses in my mail app. Every two minutes the dock icon starts bouncing and it's requesting the password for one of them. Everytime I tick the box saying "remember this in my keychain" but no sooner have I done that and it pops back up again requesting the password that I have just entered. I am entering the correct passwords and all email addresses are active. It's really winding me up at the moment as I keep having to quit the mail app because I can't stop it from asking for passwords. This MacBook is brand new. I only got it delivered from Apple last week!Â

I have been using apple mail for a while now, I have 4 accounts on it (2 gmail accounts, 2 psmail accounts). All of a sudden yesterday both psmail accounts stopped sending and receiving emails, and apple mail started asking for my password. I am able to sign in to both accounts online, AND I am able to send and recieve emails via my ipod touch. So it seems to be a problem just with the mail app.Â

I have an older Power PC Mac that runs OS 10.4. Mail does not accept my password on this computer. So I can neither send or receive mail. While my Intel Mac that runs Lion & iCloud accepts the same pw and works fine. What should I do? There is no update for Power PC Mail application. Is this time to discard this older Mac completely?

I have an IMAP email account that's over a decade old. It's going away soon so I'm trying to figure out how to get a complete local copy of all that email. There are a total of around 100 folders with anywhere from 5 to over 2000 emails in each folder.
The problem: there's email on the server that isn't showing up in Mail. For instance one folder (according to the webmail interface) has 771 messages. Mail says that folder has 700 messages.Looking at the webmail interface I can easily find several of the 71 emails that are not appearing in Mail. In Mail, if I select the folder and "Get Account Info" and look at the Quotas section, it lists the correct number of email messages (771). If I rebuild the folder, as it's being rebuilt the blue progress bar at the bottom left of Mail says there are 771 incoming messages. But when it's done, I can only see 700.
I just double checked on a second computer (MacBook Pro, also latest 10.7 version & Mail) and it's the same there, it only sees 700 messages. Now, repeat this times the roughly 100 folders .What's going on here? Why isn't Mail downloading or displaying these emails?

my colleague has set up an email account on his macbook pro 10.7 and when he sends an email out the recipients see the email address as glen with one n rather than glenn. so when people reply they send to something that is not there and get a return to sender. This is strange as the sent address in the settings is glenn not glen. Â
This isn't a server issue as it is on his work imac g5 computer and sends correctly. It must be an error when putting the info in but I can't see where. it is an outlook Exchange mail server and not with our company so i can't look at the settings in that.is there a simple way to sort this out or, if not how can I remove the email account, set it up again but retain the old emails?Â

using certificates to send encrypted emails from the Mail app. However, it's outdated and no longer supported by Apple. Do you guys know if 10.7.3 works the same way? Basically, I want to use a secure certificate to encrypt my outgoing email messages. I'm running 10.7.3.Â

Up until today my MAIL app in my iMac let me use an email address that is from the AOL.com group (netscape.net)…I cannot send emails now because I can't get the computer to connect to the server. My iPad will….but not the desktop. I tried using a different server name; smtp.nestcape.net, which is the one I used in the iPad…but the iMac won't let me change it to that one..so back to the old smtp.aol.com……Still my MAIL app is not recognizing this or letting me connect!?!. I tried creating a new password at the wedpage of that email account.. successfully..but it has made no difference. I am stumped and have wasted half the day trying to deal with this.

I cannot send mail from my iMac today even though I was able to do it yesterday. I am on Mountain Lion. The Connection Doctor says that one of the SMTP servers of all those I have used in the past is connected. (The "light" is green.) I suspect there is something wrong in the Mail Preferences, but I don't know where to start to fix this problem. When I tried troubleshooting a related mail problem a few weeks ago, I received an error message saying that more than one account was attached to that SMTP server. Where I should start?
