OS X V10.7 Lion :: Get A Copy Of The Printer Compatibility For Airport Express?
Feb 9, 2012
Migrating to Mac from XP my first purchase was a MacBook Pro, and now I'm trying to come up with a method to print to either my HP 8050 or HP 720C. So far nothing works.
Info:
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), with HP 8050 printer

I just bought a HP Color Laserjet CP 1215 to use with my Macbook. Amazon didn't have any information about compatibility and I just assumed it would work (a mistake, obviously). I was ready to return it but a friend of mine pointed out that it might work with Airport Express. I have Airport Express and it would be great if it would work. I don't know why it would though. If anyone knows anything about this, please lemme know. Also, if anyone knows any other way (except for downloading windows on my mac) that I can make my printer work.

I've set a wireless network and connected my multifunction printer in an AirPort Express. I can access it from my computer to print, but the scanner utility doesn't recognise it. What could be wrong?

I'm looking into buying a wireless router, I have a macbook pro and wanted to ask how the Airport express is. Is it a good router? Ill be living in a 2 bedroom apartment so the range I'm assuming should be good. Can I connect a printer or my external hdd to it?

I have a standard wireless network for the Internet, and have just bought an airport express to make my printer wireless -- thinking I could use it to create a second, separate network (with no internet connection) that just connected to the printer.
I realize that I'd have to switch networks from the Internet to the Printer if I wanted to print, and vice versa. No big deal.
But it didn't work so far. Maybe my theory is faulty.
I'm wondering if I need to also connect it via an ethernet cable to the wireless router.
Or I've just bungled the setup.
I have a MacBook with an 802.11G airport card. The express (and router) can do N as well as G.

When I switch to airport over my airport express it won't come up (Well it does for a millisecond then disappears) and if I manually add it via mdns:// it doesn't print.

After a surge fried my beloved HP LaserJet 1320, I purchased an HP LaserJet P2055dn. This has a built-in print server, to my understanding, with an Ethernet port that would be available for me to connect to a router. I would ideally like to share this printer between my MacBook and another computer (an HP notebook PC running Vista). What's the best idea here? Please bear in mind one thing: the HP notebook has flaky wireless, so it might have to use an Ethernet cable at some point--thus I'd like to explore all of the feasible options.
1. USB to my computer and set up printer sharing?
2. Ethernet to my computer and set up printer sharing? (Does that make any sense? Maybe not!)
3. Get a wired router and, while the computer is on my desk, connect it to the printer and to the connected computers.
4. Get an AirPort Express and connect the printer up to the USB port. Now, we're using WPA2 on our wireless network here, and I thought I read somewhere that one cannot extend a wireless network that's WPA2. Can I hook up a printer to an Express that's a client?
5. One idea that especially intrigued me: Get an AirPort Express and connect the printer up to the Ethernet port, then set up network printing on all connected computers, rather than Bonjour printing. Again, network-extending question still applies--I'm really clueless here.
Since I *have* a network printer, would network printing (i.e., option 5) be faster/better/more efficient than Bonjour printing? Less software or drivers to install? or more?

i'm using an airport extreme as my primary router for internet and everything, and i have a airport express set up in my bedroom for wireless music. i've set it up that the express is joined with the extreme so internet (from the lounge room) and music (in my bedroom) all run through one network.
i just purchased a printer which i plugged into my airport express to enable wireless sharing, and in airport utility it shows the express is connected to the printer, but while im connected to the extreme it wont let me print to it, however it'll still let me stream music to it. And to make is very frustrating because the networks are joined, it wont even let me connect to just the express to do the occasional printing that i want.

Question: Can a wireless printer 'join' an Airport Express Network? The printer in question is not near my router, can the printer join the network wirelessly so that I can print w/o a USB connection?

I connected my imac to aiport express and the airport express to my wireless network and to my printer.
The light on the airport express device is green and the computer suggests I am connected to it.
When trying to print, though, i get a message that the printer is off-line, and in addition, the wireless network sometimes drops altogether.

I already have a wireless network in my house. I'm about to buy a printer, but would prefer to keep the printer in a different room. Can I connect the printer to one of those AirPort Express Base Station, then print wirelessly from my laptop?

With an Airport Express-connected printer, is there any way to configure things such that:
- I can leave the Airport Express on (as a base station)
- I can leave the printer off by default (so as not to waste energy)
- I can select 'print' within an application
- The print job queues
- I can then switch on the printer and the job will begin processing
Is this possible with an Airport Express-connected printer? The problem is that the printer is a fair walk from my office and I have to walk there to switch it on and then walk back to print and then walk back to collect the print out.

AirPort Express doesn't show up in AirPort Utility 6.0. I haven't updated the AirPort utility on my laptop, and can find it there. 6.0 doesn't even has a scan button... I've done a hard reset of the AirPort Express, still isn't showing up.

I have an Airport Extreme Base Station set up that is connected to my modem. I purchased a new Airport Express that I have used to extend my network. I plugged my Canon MF8050cn printer into the USB port of the airport express. I've added the printer successfully, but when I try printing to the Canon via wifi, I get this error: Â
"Canon CMFP Printer Driver; Printer is not responding.Check the printer power and connection, and then try sending printing job again." Printer power is on and connected correctly. As a side note, I am able to print to the printer successfully when I plug the printer into my macbook air directly via USB. So I have two printers added, "Canon - USB" and "Canon - Wifi". The latter is the one that gives me the error. I purchased the airport express so I could print wirelessly as I'm unable to move my printer closer to the Base Station.Â

After upgrading to Lion on my Macbook Air, I can't seem to be able to connect to my external speakers through airport express. Somehow I can't get the little icon I used to do, on the bottom right corner of the iTunes window (on the left of genius) to select the speakers. I checked the preferences in vain.

I have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.

I'm having a screen issue with a MacBook Pro that's running Leopard (screen is black). An external screen won't work with it in its current state. I need to bring it in for repair -- about 7 days! So I want to mirror it to an external drive before then -- against loss of data, etc. Using the Carbon Copy Cloner version for Leopard and target disk mode, I slaved it to a computer running Tiger and made what ought to be a mirror. The data's there, yet I can't boot the drive from a computer running Tiger.* That might be b/c
1) a drive w/ Leopard OS can't be booted through a computer running Tiger (unlikely, I think)
2) CCC won't enable me to make a bootable drive if I'm mirroring the Leopard OS using Tiger
3) something else.

Just a question for those who have used the Airports. Can a USB hub be used to expand the number of devices the Airport can use? i.e., an external hd, a laserjet, and an inkjet.

Can it? If it can, would Airtunes still work like normal.
In other words, can I be connected to my Airport EXTREME and Airtunes would still work since the Airport EXTREME and EXPRESS are using the same network wifi-name (the Express is just extending the Extreme's range).

After configuring wireless security on my Airport Extreme base station, the Airport Express I use to stream iTunes music to my whole-house stereo system has disappeared. Airport Utility can't see it. Yes, I checked connections. All I get is a blinking yellow light on the Express. The base station works as its supposed to.

MBP 2.2; OSX 10.4.11; Airport Express 802.11n (version 7.3.2); WD MyBook 320GB (format Mac OS Extended) I'm trying to get the WD HDD setup as a wireless hard drive, but it's not showing up at all in Airport Utility (I don't even have a 'disk' tab in the 'manual setup' menu). Airport Disk Utility just says "no airport disks found." Of course the HDD works fine when plugged in directly to the MBP. I've searched apple support and these forums, but haven't found anything that works yet. All help I have found says use the 'disk tab' in AE manual setup window. What do I do without a 'disk' tab? (or how do I get one?) is this a firmware/software issue with the AE?

I currently have the apple extreme as my wireless router. It works great. I absolutely love it. I have two macbook pro's (wife and I both have one) and use it for my PS3 and Xbox 360. I started a new job and was given a free HP desktop (not my choice, but hey, it's free, so what can I say). The desktop is not wireless and I am not able to put my computer near the airport extreme because my TV already owns that territory. Today I bought the Airport express to use as a bridge (and other things in the future). I have plugged it in. I opened the airport utility using my macbook. It finds my extreme and my express. I select that I want to set up the express. I select that I want to set it up using an existing wireless network. I select my airport extreme. It tells me that it has to restart the express. I wait approximately 3 minutes. It then tells me that the settings to the express have been changed but it's not able to find it.
My main goal is to use the express as a bridge. I have the express plugged in beside the desktop and want to run an ethernet cable from the express to the desktop to allow for wireless capability.

And then there's another site which direct me to a site to download something called min12xxw. I dun understand anything that's stated on that site and would like some help with it.

I recently moved into a new apartment that has an Airport Express connected to a cable modem. The network does not have a password. I want to put a password on it so that not everyone in the building can use our internet.
When I connect to the Airport via the Airport Utility, it recognizes the Airport, but asks for a password when I try to configure it. I tried doing a soft reset on the Airport, but it didn't change anything. Are there two passwords for an Airport? If so, how can I bypass the second one? The "Resetting Airport Express" page at [URL] doesn't answer this question. Do I need to do a hard reset? If so, is there anything I need to know about that? We no longer have any of the original literature that came with the product.

I am upgrading from a g wireless router to an n. I have a Belkin right now that I hate. Neither I, on a mac, nor my roommate, on a PC, can get a consistent connection on it. Needless to say it's going back and I want to get an express or an extreme. I had actually bought an Airport Extreme first and it was lightening fast, but I was told that the Express was just as fast, so I went to exchange. The guy at BestBuy told me the Belkin was cheaper and just as fast, so I bought it. I would really like this to be my last trip to the store for a router. Do I need to shell out for the Extreme or is the Express just as fast if all you need is an n router?
