Ever since I downloaded iplayer - my mac has been running slow. I have followed a few tips to remove it and all other related files - but it still runs low (spinning wheel of death) and now pdf's dont download correctly (I guess I have deleted too much).Â
My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.Â

I am trying to find a way to re-install iPhoto via Lion. I am fully aware that iPhoto was intially intended for Snow Leopard with the last in version 9.0, and Lion was the first update with 9.0.1.
Here's my dillema, iPhoto somehow got corrupted, and refuses to upload into screen. I had to take down the corrupt app, and now I can't upload iPhoto unless if I have version 9 active. How do I re-install version 9 (a clean version)? I ask, cause I wish to safely obtain all the software necessary for my MACBook.

I am setting up some new MacBook Pros for work and I want to install patches for all of the pre-installed software before distributing them.It looks like the GarageBand and iPhoto can only be patched through the App Store, which is requiring me to enter a credit card.Is there a way to patch these programs without a credit card?

I just recently bought a used MacBook air from someone, its a late 2009 MacBook. It was originally version 10.5.6 but I wanted a clean MacBook (as if i just bought a completely new macbook) so i erased and installed with a CD that apple sent me. But after I installed it it lost all the apps like iphoto, imovie garage band. How I can get those apps (besides buying them)?

I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

When I open iPhoto on my new iMac it tells me that there is an update available and that I should goto Software Update to get it. I go there and it says that my software is up to date. I go back to iPhoto and it still tells me there is an update for 8.1.1 but it also gave me a manual install link. I manually downloaded it and it won't install because it needs iPhoto 8.1 from iLife 09'. I even tried rebooting and repairing hard drive permissions. I am using iPhoto from iLife 09 that came on my brand new Mac.

I bought a new hard disk for my Macbook, installed it, installed OSX, and used Time Machine. Everything works great, just as it was earlier on my old hard drive. But, iPhoto '09 gives an error ("The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly") when starting up. The rest of iLife is working fine.

I lost my photo, all of them. It is definitely my fault. Here's what happened. I did a clean install of SL and transferred all my stuff over from an external drive(TC). I then dropped all my photos into iPhoto. They were all there. I then deleted my originals from the desktop. I assumed that a new folder was created with the photos in it in my pictures folder.
I also erased my TC to make room so I could start doing backups again. Well, just now I realized that iPhoto is empty because I accidentally deleted the photos. I've lost years of pictures. Can I pull off the photos from my iPod or iPhone? There is a problem, neither of those devices have been connected to the computer since the SL install. How I can get those pictures back to my computer.

I am a MAC noob and know anough to be dangerous and dumb....
Any advice for me before I install ilife 11 (with iPhoto 11 in it)?
So far i have backed up all her pics (not her library) to an external NTFS HD (i had to use some software to make that happen BTW but thats another headache)
How would i go about backing up her 09 iPhoto library which i assume includes albums she has made, printed photo book projects she made, edited pictures etc.... ?
and onto the real question - is iPhoto 11 (iLife 11) not worth the purchase price? can i put the 50 bucks to better APPLE use?

I want to do a clean install of Snow Leopard and I'm wondering if I can just make a copy (to my external HD) of my entire Music and Pictures folders, and then drag them to replace the new ones created in the clean install? If I do so, will my photos and music appear in iTunes/iPhoto as it should?

iphoto gave me an error that it didnt work with the current MAC OS (I have 10.6.8). I followed instructions to re-install iphoto from the back up application disk and now it say I can't open iphoto without a software update. I check and all the software is currently up to date.Â

I'm on a newer iMac running Yosemite and went to install ilife 09, to get iDVD (that I need) and somehow it killed iphoto? The ap wont even open. I opted for the custom install and thought everything went fine (only selected iDvd, but I have no iphoto.. I'm downloading it from the ap store now, My question is this, I purchased ilife 09 and ilife 11. This shouldnt be a problem should it? I should do the custom install on 09 (opting only for iDvd) then do the same for 11 right?Â

I will want to perform a clean install when SL is released in September. But, I would like to have my iPhoto library (events, faces, places, etc.), my itunes library (song ratings, play counts, etc.) and my Mail (messages, mailboxes, etc.) kept in tact. Is this possible? If so, how would I got about doing this. I know people have asked similar questions to this, but I have not been able to find a reliable answer for all these concerns of mine.

I can't open my iPhoto because I downloaded OS X months ago. I am sick of the App Store icon showing I have two updates - iPhone and iMovie - that I can NOT update. Also I am blocked from getting into iPhoto to boot!!!! Here's what's on the screen when I try to update these programs.Â
Update Unavailable with this apple ID. This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.  I purchased this computer and did not return, cancel, or refund one thing in it. We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null) how I contact the App Store?

I backed up my nearly 90GB iPhoto Library both through Time Machine on an external HD, and manually on another external HD. Upon erasing everything on my MacBook internal HD and reinstalling Tiger, I wanted to restore my iPhoto Library on the Mac internal HD from either of of my 2 external HDs. Now the iPhoto Libray contain around 19,500 photos. When I try to open iPhot and pressing shift and select the iPhoto Libray from either of the two external HD the process of import understandably takes a long time. THE PROBLEMÂ is why iPhoto shows it is importing over 90,000 photos and takes for ever to do it and then it keeps telling me there might be no space on my internal HD (which has 340GB available and the iPhoto Library is only about90 or 95GB)?Â

I updated iphoto to 9.3 but never bothered to launch it until today. It asked me to upgrade the library. However, the process got stuff with a spinning beach ball and my mbp completely froze! When I cold booted it, it launched iphoto on its own and the whole process repeated. I had to reboot in safe mood in order to break it. In safe mode too iphoto library froze the machine.

Can I run Lion? Also, if I install Lion on this computer but NOT my iMac (I'll probably replace the desktop computer within the year and have decided not to install Lion now since the new machine will have the latest system), will that cause any compatibility problems in exchanging files? I want to have Lion on the MacBook so that I can exchange files between an it and an iPad using iCloud.
