Mac Pro :: Iphoto Will Not Open After Re-install From Back Up Disk
Jun 17, 2012
iphoto gave me an error that it didnt work with the current MAC OS (I have 10.6.8). I followed instructions to re-install iphoto from the back up application disk and now it say I can't open iphoto without a software update. I check and all the software is currently up to date.
I would like to be able to open files that I've worked on in Windows and be able to write back to the same disk. Is this possible? What do I need to do to make this possible?
I cannot open my iphoto because i am constantly receiving the message "the application quit unexpectedly" I have tried everything!!!!first & foremost I have archived & installed osx already 2 times.I have tried holding down the options key and building a new library..doesnt work.I have typed in fsck -fy and rebooted and rebuilt disk permissions.i cant seem to find the file .com.apple.iphoto etc its not in my preference folders to erase it
I had windows vista installed but suddenly the audio decided to become faulty, after spending a day trying to fix it i realized I have a windows 7 install disc so i might as well just replace vista with windows 7. I didnt take care of vista or ever register it so it became quite a task to upgrade so i just deleted the partition and went to create a new one and just do a full install of windows 7.
I made the partition but the wrong format, so i removed it through boot camp assistant and created another, except now it keeps giving me the "back up the disk and use disk utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using boot camp assistant again" Now, I'd love to do this, except I have no idea what I'm doing and WHY this error has occured. After becoming frustrated I switched from my imac to my macbook pro and received the same error when trying to create a partition. So any help on exactly what I need to do would be a HUGE help. I only use windows for music production (I know, seems backwards, but I use Sony Acid and FL Studio so I'm stuck with Windows)
I have 43GB available on a 120GB drive on my MacBook base model and I'm trying to partition via BootCamp.I'm trying to allocate 32GB to the Windows partition but I keep getting the following error message:Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again. Now I've backed up my disk and launched disk utility, and try to follow above directions here but the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) area is grayed out and when I click apply after highlighting the MacBook are (in blue), it errors out and says the disk is out of space.
I am having an issue Partitioning my Internal HDD because some files cannot be moved it was able to Partition a while back when Installed Vista but I deleted that Partition as I needed a bigger one for Windows 7 Beta It says I need to "Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume." does that mean I have to reformat my entire HDD? as I don't want to do that.
so i got this message "Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again." what do I do
Is there any way to back up iPhoto 09. I spent a ton of time organizing and labeling pics. I mean back it up and save what I did without having to run time machine and not having to back up my entire computer..?
I main HDD and one time machine HDD that basically clones almost everything. On top of that I have Airport extreme with a usb hdd connected to it. I would like to know how to best back up my iPhoto pics? I thought about time machine but that would require me selecting and deselecting things and therefore would be a pain and would mess up my regular internal backup hdd.I also noticed, that iPhoto doesn't store the pics in a simple folder. You need to select "show folder content" which shows many folders ( I believe one regular and one with changes) but its a pain to always go through this.
What would be the best way to back up my 27gb iphoto library to DVD? I have toast installed so maybe use that. Any other options without spending any cash.
I bought a IMac and had preloaded ilife apps ready to be downloaded in purchased tab and accidentally deleted iphoto and imovie. How do I get them back?
I updated my MacBook Pro but it froze half way through installing so I turned the MacBook off, when it came back on I had a problem with the software and had to install it properly again. Doing that caused me to loose all my files originally on the laptop, i had to set it up like a brand new.
All my photos were stored on my iPhoto but when I downloaded the app and opened it up none of my photos I had were there. Is there any way to get all my photos back at all? There's a lot of photos I've lost because of the update freezing on my MacBook.
I searched for a while trying to find the answer but did not find it. I just installed Vista Business via Bootcamp. I am not able to access the internet or anything. If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? Or am I just missing something easier?
I have a dual 2ghz G5 that i wanted to clean off and start fresh. I wiped the drive with disk utility and tried to install os from tiger install dvd. G5 keeps hanging at install and also at disk utility. I've swapped both the osX install dvd disk and the entire dvd drive, but still hangs at os load or utility.
I got tiger install discs for my emac but I cant get it to run the install. I tried putting the disc in and clicking the restart button on the screen that says "Welcome to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger", but when I click it it just restarts my computer and does nothing. I then tried the alternate install it did the same thing it did nothing but restarted my eMac. I then tried restarting my computer while holding c key nothing once again. Then I tried holding down apple, option, f , and o keys and then typed in cd boot and also tried cdrom boot nether of them worked so i restarted and tried dvd boot/dvdrom boot nothing worked on all the occasion i got a grey screen with a circle with a line through it. What do I need to do to get these install discs to work?
This is my first macbook, and I felt like watching borat but when I put the dvd in, the little disk image goes on my desktop but I can't play it. When I open the disk icon it goes to folder called VIDEO_TS inside is a bunch of images and other stuff. Sounds nooby but how do I watch movies on this thing.EDIT: I had to go into VLC manually and go to open disk.. Why cant I just click on the DVD and click play?
so, i messed up trying to move iphoto to an external hard drive, after some help the ex hd is wiped clean just like new and i have managed to ensure my photos are stil on my imac, hoorah! but in the process i disconnected iphoto from the application, but i got them back together again, so iphoto is in finder like new. only now i would like it back in the dock where it belongs. i am sure i knew how to do this once but have since forgotten. part two of my question is that iphoto now has no backups for browsing on time machine.
Searched the archives but no luck so far. My old PB G4 is running 10.4.11. When I installed the OS, I chose not to install iPhoto and iMovie because I didn't think I'd need them on this machine. I'd now like to add them, but am not sure how to do it without wiping the hard drive and starting completely from the beginning. There's got to be an easier way...right?
I accidentally sent a folder of photos to the Trash. This folder was my backed up photos from my pc. I am terrified that I will lose this and I have no idea how to move this whole folder to iphoto.
I need to do repair my disk on my 10.6.4 machine but am wondering if I can do so with my 10.5 Install DVD or if I need to wait until I get home and do it with my 10.6 upgrade dvd?
Ever since I downloaded iplayer - my mac has been running slow. I have followed a few tips to remove it and all other related files - but it still runs low (spinning wheel of death) and now pdf's dont download correctly (I guess I have deleted too much).
My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.
