I cannot view the attachment file received through Mail in my Mac but it is there, I can view it in my iPad and iPhone. Also the expanded header says there's an attachment. And the size says so.

I've tried to use stat in Terminal to get file permissions in octal notation but the tips I've found online do not work in OS X. It seems that the Mac flavor of stat is slightly different from that used in Linux... Â

Was wondering if someone out there can help me. When I get an email with an attachment & I opened it, it used to get saved on my desktop, but now goes to 'Downloads' after I installed SL. How do I change it back to download to mu desktop??
Now when I try to view a .wmv file it says that I do not have Quicktime player, which I do. I have to open the file via Quicktime & searching for it in my downloads folder. Have looked at the settings & appears to be OK....

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe file extension is exactly that, .igs. I can't get it to open using anything, nor can I find very much information on what programs even deal with it. I see alot of stuff about .iges.
These files were created about 6 years ago. I've tried TurboCad demo, eDrawings demo, TouchCad demo. Nothing works. All say unsupported file.
I'm a recent switcher, and of course would never voluntarily go back to a PC. Love everything about the Mac for the most part.
One thing that has bugged me: In Windows File Explorer, when browsing files, all the folders are at the top (in alpha order), then the files are sorted below that in alpha order.
In Finder, the folders are mixed in so everything is alpha all together.
I would prefer seeing all my folders at the top.
Is there a setting that controls this?
Is there an option/tweak/add-on to show the size of a highlighted file in icon view? I know I can change to a different view or use 'Get Info' on the file but that defeats the purpose. Is there anyway to see this information on the information bar on the bottom of the window (instead of just number of files and space available on disk)?

i cant see the satari, file , edit , view etc on the top... when my pointer arrow up the top and pop down i can see this safari.. when i removed the pointer arrow.. the line was pop up ... how can it stay still no pop up... but i can see the corner the blue square with two arrow and i move the pointer arrow to this blue square make it smaller.... but how can the top to stop pop up make me cant see the safari etc.. i want is show the top file edit all time ..

I get an error when i tried to open the .JPG image file. This file was actually recovered from my pendrive. As it was in .SCR i had to use the image recovery software and got it done in .JPG.The file's preview is avaialbe only on the app i used to recover. After i stored the image file on desktop and tried to open it i get an error "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."   Â

I've got an issue where I have a bunch of .zip.part files in my downloads stack, which I cannot remove (I do not know how to remove a file directly from the stack, perhaps there's a way?) because when I open the downloads folder in finder, they aren't there.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI have setup up Finder to view all folders/files. I know how to become root from Terminal using (su) and navigate to all folders and do things.
The problem I can't figure out is when I use Mac apps (such as TextEdit) to open a file in one of the hidden folders (such as /private/etc/apache,) I dont see them in the dialog even though I am logged in as root and have enabled the Finder to show all files.
Is there a way to view all the folders from these dialog boxes? I dont want to use vim or pico for editing.
How can I get it back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've subscribed to a web-based service that allows me to view court documents online, but QuickTime won't let me view anything more than the first page of these tiff files. The regular version of QuickTime won't allow me to view multiple pages, even if I do uncheck tiff files in the settings. I'm using Google Chrome, but I can't seem to find a good plugin to view multiple tiff pages. The only way I can view multiple pages on a tiff file from this Internet program is to uninstall QuickTime. But if I do that I can't get iTunes to play. I'd go ahead and pay the $30 to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if I thought that would solve my problem, but I don't know if that will work. Does anyone know if QuickTime Pro will allow users to view multiple pages in a Tiff File?

I just got a 8 core Mac Pro at work and it has developed a nasty crashing habit. I think that I have narrowed the problem down, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. The machine crashes whenever I view a PowerPoint (08) or Keynote (09) file in presentation mode. In the current setup I have the presentation on one screen and my notes and information on the other screen. I am running dual 24 inch LED monitors (not mirrored) and when I disconnnect one of them, there is no crashing and the presentations work great. I have two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 video cards.

Earlier tonight I opened iCal, only to find that none of my calendars were there. it was completely empty. However, when I changed the view from "Week" to "Month" all of my events were listed (in the proper color) on the appropriate day, but I still had no list of calendars on the left. Subsequent changes between "Day" "Week" and "Month" view continued to display the events properly, but nothing showed up in the calendar menu on the left.
I repaired permissions same thing happened.I trashed com.apple.ical pref (forgot the exact filename)�same behavior. I use .mac to sync between computers, and I use Missing Sync to sync to a Palm T|X.
I have an older MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD) and am having problems with PDF files. Well, I guess it would be better described as annoyances with PDF files. I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUpon upgrading to Lion, I can no longer view pdf files unless downloaded and then opened. When attempting to view pdf files in Safari all I get is a black screen. I am able to download most files and then view, but some sites don't have that option.
Another issue that I can't seem to fix and I think first appeared with Snow Leopard is that whenever I open Safari I get a message about my version of Safari doesn't support Community Toolbar although have upgraded my browser whenever a new version is availalbe.

I was playing with the different display configurations and options in the Finder trying to figure out what suited me best. I right-clicked on "All My Files" and there was an option to add a search bar to the file. I clicked on this to see what happened and all the files were gone and the full search bar was at the top of the page with all the filters (like 3 or 4 lines worth) displayed. I went back to All My Files, right-clicked again and there was an option to Remove Search Bar (or something like that I dont remember exactly). When I clicked on this the search bar was still displayed but without all the lines of filters and I still can not see any of my files.
I right-clicked again on All My Files and there was no longer anything in the menu about the search bar, the right-click menu magically changed from four items to three. I have looked at all the view options and tried to figure out what happened but I am at a loss as to what I did that made All My Files search only (or at least that's what seems to have happened). This obviously doesnt stop me from being able to view the files through other routes (i.e. clicking on Documents in the Favorites sidebar, selecting Computer from the Go tab, clicking on Macintosh HD on the desktop) but is still quite annoying.
