I would like to view as Columns but it is grayed out in Finder view options. Why is this? And is there a way to fix it?Â

I prefer to use the column view for the finder. The thing is that I always have to enable it when open some new folder. Is it possible to always view in columns instead of icons?

When I'm looking at files and folders in Finder, I want it to be in List view. When I open a folder that contains photos, I want it to show them as tiles. However, when I set a folder to show as tiles, it changes *all* folder options, meaning my normal files and folders start showing as tiles too, when they should be showing as a list. How do I fix this so that it shows the right view depending on the contents of the folder? This is proving to be a major headache coming from Windows 7.
In addition, the Finder window keeps on defaulting to a size that isn't wide enough to view all columns. I keep on having to press the + button to make it shows all the columns of information. How do I fix this so that it shows all of the information straight away?
I have to admit, these are some really major usability hurdles I've come across, and after a week of peaceful usage, I have that feeling of buyers remorse again right now because of this!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like all my finder windows to appear the same when navigating through folders, but I'm noticing that finder is not always taking notice of the "set as defaults" button. The way I've tried to do it is to open a finder window and push cmd+J. I prefer the list view, so I check the "always open in list" box, set the icon size and uncheck "icon preview".
However, as I navigate deeper into folders, I notice some folders will no longer remember these and for example, will start to show the icon preview. In Windows, I remember you used to set up a random window to appear exactly how you wanted it, enter folder options and hit "default view for all windows".
I want to reset every view options on every finder window to their default. Then make every window have 128 x 128 icons minimal grid spacing and size 10 text. Is there any quick way to do this?

Apple, you broked it AGAIN!! You're getting tired of hearing this but Fix The ********** Finder!!!
When I set a view option and then click "Use as default" it doesn't apply to all the folders throughout the system. This worked every time in Leopard like Billy D. Williams' Colt .45, and now? BROKED!
Come on Apple! You do a great job at making things work, such so that we have to bring ourselves to THIS! Batching about so little an issue as not applying my pretty background color to all my windows! If you're going to break something at least break something worth fixing!

Since installing snow leopard I can no longer watch any videos on Hulu or any network.com sites. I have installed Peruin, update QT for snow leopard and updated to the latest flash player.....any suggestions. I "got info" on safari and told the application to open with rosetta. there were a number of other programs that I needed to do that for so I thought that would work...but nothing does!

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I attempt to access Street View under Snow Leopard (by dragging the little "person" icon to a street), instead of getting a photo of the street, I get a black screen. No photo at all. If I then click Street View's full screen icon, I finally get a photo but the navigation bars are no longer overlaid on the screen. And you can't "grab" the photo with the mouse pointer to change your perspective view (can't look up, down or to either side). Further, the navigation icons in the upper left corner don't work either. You're simply stuck with the single view photo that comes up at first.
I had already installed the latest Flash version (10.0.32.18) before I ever tired Street View. Maybe that's the problem? Snow Leopard shipped with an older version of Flash (10.0.23.1) and maybe Apple did that for a reason? I had also already installed Apple's most recent update for JAVA before trying Street View. On Apple's support forum and Google's help forum, I've found about 5 other people that are reporting the problem too. One guy said he was having the same problem and then it magically went away on its own? But I'm sure 99.9% of the folks that have already installed Snow Leopard simply haven't gone to try Street View yet. I bet it's broken for a LOT of people.

Earlier tonight I opened iCal, only to find that none of my calendars were there. it was completely empty. However, when I changed the view from "Week" to "Month" all of my events were listed (in the proper color) on the appropriate day, but I still had no list of calendars on the left. Subsequent changes between "Day" "Week" and "Month" view continued to display the events properly, but nothing showed up in the calendar menu on the left.
I repaired permissions same thing happened.I trashed com.apple.ical pref (forgot the exact filename)�same behavior. I use .mac to sync between computers, and I use Missing Sync to sync to a Palm T|X.
I saw someone elses itunes and they had a different layout than mine, but did not remember where he changed it at. His had three columns that filled the top half with like artist, genre, album. And then the bottom half had the selection of whatever was highlighted on the top half.

I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.
