When I am trying to import images into Aperture 3.4.5. I get the message:
- You don’t have permission to save the file “nilpe” in the folder “Användare”.
- To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info.
To my knowledge there is no account nilpe on this computer, the account name I use is different.Somehow Aperture has mixed up permissions.(Have run the "Repair Disk Permissions" in Disk Utility.app and restarted, without any effect)(Mac Pro with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63), start up disc is a SSD and the Aperture Library is on another disk.I have previously imported thousands of images into Aperture, I am at a loss as to why this has suddenly appeared.

Lion 10.7.4: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access" when compressing folder On Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4: I am trying to compress a large folder to move to an external RAID. When I try to compress on the same drive location I get "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access...". It seems certain files in the directory permissions are not set properly. I have tried changing the folder and all contain files permission through "Get Info" and it appears to complete without errors.

I have a 1TB drive in my Mac Pro running Mavericks 10.9.4 and I went to disk utility to erase some free space on the drive. However I keep getting the error message: Secure Erase Free Space failed Secure erase Free Space failed with the error: Couldn't create temporary file.
I Googled the error message and couldn't find anything. The error message is heaps unuseful, it doesn't tell me why it couldn't create a temporary file or what I can do to fix it.

i just received a DVD with a video on it.When I put the DVD in the drive, I can see a folder with a "No Entry" sign at the lower right corner. When I double click on the folder, following message comes up:The folder DVD_RTAV can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents" Under Info, it does not show any size.Under Sharing and Permission, it says: You have no access. I enabled "Shared Folder" but nothing chanded. It does not even say, it is password protected, otherwise it would ask me for a password. How can I open that folder?Would there be any software able to read it>I have no idea, what the video file format is, because I can not read anything.I tried it on the Mac Pro and also on my MBP, so it can not be a drive problem.I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

It's been a little while it says an error message when I try to open some of my pics:
The file "297275_10150338673995638_17125605637_10107621_387986_n.jpg" couldn't be opened because you don't have permission to view it. It tells me to go in finder and change settings...
But when I go it says 3 names: first one is read and write but it is not even my actual apple id, it was only for 2 minutes in the store when I bought it and then we changed the setting. Then there is "staff" in read onlyand "everyone" in read only. Even if I change it all to read and write it doesn't work, but anyway I am the only user of my computer... so whats up with that anyway?

I have been given a video file and when copied to 'finder' it showed it was a unix executable file and it opened Terminal, again made no sense to me. The first batch of videos was copied to an external drive from a Windows PC with MacDrive installed. When I came back to my Mac, I plugged the external drive into my Mac and moved those files to my hard drive. The second batch was copied using Connect to Server command right from my Mac.The funny thing is Final Cut Pro cannot recognize the first batch of videos. So I took a look at the file permissions using Terminal. All of the videos in the first batch have a file permission of -rwxr-xr-x@ but the others have -rwxr-xr-x. I tried to do a chmod 755 on every video file, but the @ sign still wouldn't go away.

After upgrading to 10.5.7, numerous permission errors highlight regularly in Disc Utility, which I run weekly (probably for too often). I never saw these with 10.5.6, or for that matter any earlier incarnation of the OS. I have also noticed progammes hanging more than before (especially Mail). I have run DiskWarrior and that didn't report anything untoward. Should I give up worrying about this and maybe join the Foreign Legion instead?

I am fairly new to mac. I have some files on my computer downloaded. some are wmv, some are avi. for some reason, a most of the files on my computer work and open perfectly, however certain ones give me an error message that reads:
"Cannot be opened. You may need to install additional software to view this type of file"
I have a few programs already downloaded that are supposed to convert these files. (Stuffit, RAR expander, Springy(doesn't work), Flip4Mac). I even checked to see if my software needed updating but my MBP says all software is up to date. How can i fix this problem so i can view the files??? I also have a file that is .f4v HD that won't open for some reason either.

Whenever I try to open a file associated with Preview by double-clicking the file I get the following error message...
If I open Preview first and then open the same file from within Preview it works fine. I've tried going into Info for various filetypes and changing the "Open with:" value to change it to something else then change it back to Preview but that doesn't change the behavior. As you can see in the error message it says "Acorn created this file on August 27, 2014"... what that means. I tried deleting the Acorn app but get the same error message..

I'm attempting to recover from the popular iCloud mistake "Deleting the wrong calendar". I am able to locate the Folder located in the Library of my Time Machine backup, and when I attempt to "Restore to" "Desktop" I receive the following error:
This particular file name is actually located in one of the folders, in the Calendar Folders, and is just one of the many events I would like to restore to my calendar, and the copy operation aborts when I click OK. Each time I retry this a different .ics file is the issue.
Investigating file permissions reveals nothing pertinent that I can see, because I am not attempting to cross any boundaries e.g. I'm in the user account and searching in the same user account, I wish to import Calendar Folder to.

I have an XServe running 10.4.11, with a United Digital RAID. About once a week I get a call from a user saying (and I quote one below): Quote: I've just lost a large Photoshop file due to the ongoing server problem - when you try to overwrite a file you're told you don't have permission, and the original file disappears. This has been happening on and off for about a year now, and I can't pin down the cause. Permissions are correct, they are saving to folders they have write access to - in fact they are usually opening those files, modifying them and saving them again when it happens. Due to hardware failures we've replaced the RAID three times this year, each time with a different model, so I'm fairly confident the RAID isn't involved. The files that are affected are Adobe Creative Suite 2 and 3 files, mostly Photoshop but some Illustrator and InDesign. Can anyone advise what I should check, or any known issues I've missed?

Suddenly I can not save a document/file and it says I don't have permission.
I do; I checked the get info and all are set to read and write permissions.
And I had opened a file on my mac, not in the cloud.
This is new; had not happened last week.
What operator error could I have done??

With the unibody, I can see the place files in the Blackbook's Drop Box, but when I go to open the newly-placed file in the Blackbook's Drop Box, I get a error message saying the file "is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened". If I try to drag the file from the Blackbook's Drop Box to the desktop, I get the error "Some of the items you are moving are in use by another application. Move the items can cause problems with the application using them..."
What am I doing wrong?
