View 1 RepliesToday I was attempting to configure Gmail for mail.app and in the process I somehow deleted the trash mailbox that would normally reside under Inbox and Sent. how I deleted it or how to recover it but I am currently searching through all the mail.app system files. what I can do to get that trash mailbox back? Â

I have started using ‘mail’ for the first time, and have successfully imported 4 mailboxes into the program. I have two issues which I would be grateful for help with. I have browsed the forums used the ‘express lane’ through Apple, but to no avail: There is no ‘trash’ can. I have deleted several messages, but I don’t know where they have gone. When I check preferences, the tickbox to send items to the ‘trash’ can is ticked for each mailbox.Â
My work mailbox is successfully incorporated into ‘mail’, inclusive of mailbox subfolders, which are showing in the mailbox pane also. Lovely so far. My problem is that this has not happened for my imported ‘hotmail’ mailbox; my subfolders are not listed for this account.Â

I would like to be able to store deleted emails indefinitely until I empty the trash mailbox. Even though I check "never" in the mailbox behavior, it only keeps the messages for 30 days.

When I check multiple messages for deletion in my IMAP inbox on my iPad or iTouch, I get an instant screen message: "Unable to Move Messages. The messages could not be moved to the mailbox trash." The selected messages do disappear from the stack but what is this message trying to tell me?

I have an IMAC 5.1 with OSX 10.6.8. When I restored a mailbox using Time Machine, the mailbox appears in Apple Mail however no emails are visible even though they are present in the folder in library/mail/mailboxes in Finder. how I can make the emails visible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my new macbook (first mac) I set up Mail with my two POP mail accounts.I have Inbox, Junk, and Sent mailboxes but no Trash mailbox.I have checked the preferences for both accounts and have set the settings to "Trash - move deleted messages to a separate folder". Yet, there is no Trash folder. I have created a mailbox entitled "Trash" and tried to go to Mailbox->"Use this mailbox for" but all options including Trash are greyed out.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to set up my Gmail IMAP account in Mail.app so that when I hit the delete key in Mail.app, the message gets archived permanently (in the All Mail folder). What's the best way to do this? Should I select the "All Mail" folder and then choose "Use this Mailbox for Trash"?

OS 10.7.4 Trash does not work properly; when I empty the trash the finder asks for my system password then empties the trash immediately.

You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash?

Despite having several files in the trash, its icon never changes (always shows an empty trash) and the "Empty Trash" option is dimmed (that is, cannot be used). OnyX ws the only solution but it's temporary. What's the fix I should apply to Mac OS X? Also, why is it that every time I want to move a file to trash I must enter my password? It's annoying to say the least. Please help me as I don't want to go through the royal pains of installing everything again, Windows-style. I think Mac OS X should be better than that.

For a variety of reasons I want to make the Users' Library visible. The main reason is that I want to Import the Safari bookmarks into Opera. I can't do that because the Users' Library is invisible.Â
If I enter Safari into Spotlight I can find the folder okay but that is useless for my purpose. It's okay if I want to transfer Bookmarks to a new computer or external drive but not for importing the Safari bookmarks to Opera.Â
It used to be visible, I don't know why, it just appeared out of the ether. Since I have updated the OS it has vanished again. Never could understand why the folder was made invisible anyway.Â
My mailbox has got to about 22GB now, and I need to archive or reduce it.I know that it's IMAP, and it's downloading all messages to my macbook.
Can I change it so that it doesn;t do this, and leave the entire message in Gmail online ?
When I send an email, why does it also show up in my "Drafts" mailbox? Is there a setting in my preferences that needs to be changed to prevent this from happeing?

I have a mailbox in Mail that I no longer want. I selected the option to delete the mailbox, but the mailbox will not leave the list. I have tried a few times to get rid of the box, but it will not leave. All the settings are still there, it still goes after mail and still allows me to send mail from that account. How do I 100% get this unwanted mailbox in Mail?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past several weeks, occasionally my computer emits 2-4 dongs and then the email sent sound, and then it does it again, and again until I either shut off the wireless connection or shut down Mail. There is nothing visible in my sent mail or nothing that I can see anyway. I have scanned my computer with VirusBarrier X6 with an uptodate definition list and it does not find anything. My console report during this time interval looks as follows... with the mail line at the end of the sequence when I reopened "Mail"  Â

I created several smart mailboxes and then created several smart mailbox folders. When I close mail and re-open, one smart mailbox folder remains and the others are gone, along with some but not all of my smart mailboxes.

I cannot seem to have the number of unread messages in my mailbox appear to the right of the inbox label. It used to be there, and I have another account set up in Mail and the number appears next to it when there is an unread message. It's just this one account. Here is a picture of what it is like, even though there is an unread message in the mailbox.I want the number of unread messages to be next to Gmail on the right. Also, the number of unread messages for the Gmail account do not appear on the Dock icon. Both of these functions work with my other account that is set up in Mail, and that account is a Gmail as well.

My Apple Mail account is connected with an Exchange 2003 server. I don't have Hebrew enabled on my macbook. Just last week, i received an email from the server saying my mailbox is full, but it all came in Hebrew. I live in Israel. How did it set the language to Hebrew when, in fact, Hebrew isn't enabled on my laptop.

I have a folder on my Mac with about 100 .eml files, which were dragged and dropped out of Microsoft Entourage a few months ago. Is there way to import this whole folder and its .eml files into a mailbox inside Apple Mail? I can do it one by one by opening a single .eml file in Mail and moving it to the mailbox: Message menu -> Move To -> [Mailbox]
However I would like to do this in one go. I tried EmailConverterLite from the App Store, and while it works quite well, imported messages do NOT have a paperclip symbol if they have attachments. This is really hard as you would have to look through all messages to find messages with attachments.

I love Smart Mailboxes in Apple Mail. I have been getting emails from a subscribed content provider and now I realize that I'd like to have a Smart Mailbox with all of the past and future mailings from them. Is there any way to select just one (or all) of the emails I have received and create a Smart Mailbox with a single menu selection? I have tried selecting one of them, then 'New Smart Mailbox...' bt it doesn't recognize I have a selection...or doesn't put the sender of the email nto the recipient field (which is the default criteria in a new Smart Mailbox'). If it doesn't now do this, hey, Apple, future feature?

Since switching to Lion, I've noticed that Notes are now visible in the Inbox view in Mail. Every time I create a new one (and I use Notes a lot!), it is visible in the Inbox Â
I want to switch this off - I only want to see Notes if I click on the Notes mailbox!Â

I have emails that show up on my iPad, iPhone and are visible when I log into iCloud but are not being shown on my Mac (Lion 10.7.4). I have checked my Junk mail and Trash and the messages are not there. I do not use Mail rules. I have restarted the Mail app and I've rebooted the Mac without any change. How to "re-sync" Mac Mail to iCloud or fix this issue?
