Today I was attempting to configure Gmail for mail.app and in the process I somehow deleted the trash mailbox that would normally reside under Inbox and Sent. how I deleted it or how to recover it but I am currently searching through all the mail.app system files. what I can do to get that trash mailbox back?

I did something really stupid... I have been accessing my GMail account using POP access and Apple Mail.app. I switched over to IMAP online, went into Mail.app Preferences, deleted my POP account and was about to re-add it as an IMAP account when I noticed that the e-mails in my inbox were deleted when I deleted my POP account. I checked ~/Library/Mail and the folder was in fact deleted. Is there anyway to recover that folder? Not all of the e-mails are still on GMail's web interface.

Back on the ground and reconnected with the Internet, that subfolder has disappeared, along with all the messages in it. Where did it go? Is it possible to recover it?
If it makes any difference, it was a Gmail account accessed via IMAP.

On my new macbook (first mac) I set up Mail with my two POP mail accounts.I have Inbox, Junk, and Sent mailboxes but no Trash mailbox.I have checked the preferences for both accounts and have set the settings to "Trash - move deleted messages to a separate folder". Yet, there is no Trash folder. I have created a mailbox entitled "Trash" and tried to go to Mailbox->"Use this mailbox for" but all options including Trash are greyed out.

It seems I have accidentally deleted a 500gb external hard drive (formatted as OSX Journaled), but the trash has not been emptied so the drive is still very full. When the hard drive is mounted, OSX previews these deleted files in the systems main trash folder. How can I restore these files to the hard drive? I can just drag them out, becuase that is like copying.... and the drive is full.

I have a mailbox in Mail that I no longer want. I selected the option to delete the mailbox, but the mailbox will not leave the list. I have tried a few times to get rid of the box, but it will not leave. All the settings are still there, it still goes after mail and still allows me to send mail from that account. I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! i couldn't delete a file from my trash can, so i followed a link i found in a thread where some one had the same problem as i did, in the link i found a guide that said i should go to terminal and enter "sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash" so i did, and yea my trash can was now empty, but then i tried to delete a file by dragin' it into my trash can in the dock, my macbook now tells me that the file will be deleted INSTANT, i search the internet again and found out that my problem was that the command i intered in terminal (sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash) deleted my trash directory
