Im trying to delete my hotmail inbox from Mail 5.2 on my Mac. I tried "delete mailbox" by right click and from the Mailbox menu. Also tried dragging the mailbox to trash and nothing.
I had no problems deleting the mailbox on my ipad and iphone ... its on my Mac that it will not disappear.

I have a Mailbox that I want to delete from Mail.app.
I can right click it, select delete. And it gives the warning. I select OK and it does nothing. I have tried it through the menu system too, and the same result.
Any idea how to delete the mailbox? The deal is I set it up to an email that I cannot access via POP and it is constantly trying to access it but can't, obviously.

I have a Hotmail account linked to my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5S and have recently upgraded to OS X 10.9.4...Each day now I notice that I have unread email notifications for my hotmail email account, and have to scroll back days or weeks to find and delete them. They are always duplicates of emails which I've already seen (as opposed to emails arriving much later than they were sent).

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Mac Mail was working great until a couple of days ago when Hotmail in it stopped working. I checked all the settings and everything is fine. I had the old pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com but went ahead and changed to pop-mail.outlook.com and smtp-mail.outlook.com and still no luck. I tried using Microsoft's site to troubleshoot but it is worthless. I tried locating a phone or email support but no luck.

I have a mailbox in Mail that I no longer want. I selected the option to delete the mailbox, but the mailbox will not leave the list. I setup my hotmail in Mail some time ago. And I guess I forgot some setting, because what happend was that ALL my email was transfered from the hotmail server to my local Mail on OSX. How do I transfer them back to the hotmail server, without loosing date stamp?

I have browsed the forums used the ‘express lane’ through Apple, but to no avail: There is no ‘trash’ can. I have deleted several messages, but I don’t know where they have gone. When I check preferences, the tickbox to send items to the ‘trash’ can is ticked for each mailbox.
My work mailbox is successfully incorporated into ‘mail’, inclusive of mailbox subfolders, which are showing in the mailbox pane also. Lovely so far. My problem is that this has not happened for my imported ‘hotmail’ mailbox; my subfolders are not listed for this account.

Although the number of unread messages is properly shown under Inbox on the Mailboxes list next to two of my three Mail accounts, the other one shows none when there some. Somehow, I now have two Yahoo accounts on my laptop (I think it happened when I updateed snow leopard a couple of months ago).This resulted in double messages to my iPhone, which put me over my data usage. I recently transferred all my data from a MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Air. I have an old Groupwise mailbox on my Pro which has been offline for over a year since my company switched from Groupwise to Outlook. After the Groupwise acct went offline the option to delete the mailbox has been greyed out. I'm trying to get this old mailbox off my Air now, after it transferred with everything else. View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring the last week or so I have received several emails form Microsoft exchange telling me that my mail box is almost full and to delete any unnecessary emails and empty my Deleted Items folder. I had about 14 pages of past emails and so I worked my way through them, deleted ones I did not need and then emptied my deleted file....thinking that this would solve my problem. I have since received more reminders, and interestingly the bar showing how much space I have left is unchanged! (491) even after dumping more emails! I now am down to about 9 pages in total and still I am receiving these messages. Should I be deleting files from somewhere else too?
