I've tried this software update multiple times and now I find out that I can't extend my AppleCare warranty after it expires. Basically the software update proceeds as usual, the computer restarts and just as you think everything is fine, the message 'There was a problem installing this software update. Quit all open applications and try updating again. If the problem contines, contact Apple support.'

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought the high end macbook pro 13" (2.53 GHz) today and I have a question about which version of windows to install on the boot camp partition. I saw a couple of videos on youtube showing pretty smooth performance of GTA IV on a MacBook Alu 13" 2.4 ghz model using BootCamp Windows Vista SP1. I dont want to install Windows Vista SP1 just because of that video and I want to know which version could give me even better performance. Both official and unofficial windows versions of XP, 7 and vista are under consideration. I dont need windows for anything else, just for playing a couple of games.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen downloading the new version to upgrade an old one, is the new one installed on top of the old version, or is it just upgraded? Simply put, should I delete the old version and then install the new, or is this unnecessary? Hard drive space is at a premium, which is why I ask.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm convinced that the next version of OSX will allow you to install and run natively all iPhone and iPad apps, with future screens being touch enabled, and those that aren't let you use the mouse instead of your finger when gesturing. I can't wait till I can install and run the facebook app on a MBP, for no reason in particular, just because I can.

I'm trying to install a retail version of OS X Tiger on an iBook G3 600mhz but all I'm getting is a blue screen after the initial grey screen with white apple logo. I've managed to get OS X Panther on it no problem but Tiger is just not playing ball. I'm having to boot up in Target Disk mode or use an external Firewire DVD player and it does the same thing every time. What I can say is that the iBook only has 128mb of RAM at present but I'm upgrading that in a day or two and I didn't think that would necessarily prevent the OS from being installed. Oh and it doesn't need a firmware upgrade.

I have the most recent versions of iLife, iWorks, and Office for mac.The new versions are expected to come at at some point. I am plan to get the most recent versions of these programs when they become available. My question is, do I need to uninstall the previous versions before I install the lastest ones or can I just install the lastest ones immediately without uninstalling the old versions. If I do need to uninstall old versions what happens when I don't do that? I would like to know what happens to the old version after I install the newest version.

The computer then tells me that the disk is no good for this computer. I can't seem to get past this window at all, no matter what I do. I've held down apple "s" which then shows me "-sh-3.2#". What does this mean? And how can I get back into my computer? Thx
