MacBook Pro :: Got Brick Out Of The Box - Refuses To Turn On

Oct 25, 2009

Just bought my first mbp from apple store today and when I get home it refuses to turn on. I got a brick from apple store. Plugged the power in an let it rest for almost half an hour and still won't turn on. Going to apple store Tom morning to demand a replacement. Will apple do anything to compensate for the hassle that I went through?? And the customer satisfaction definitely went down.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Clean Install On A Second Boot Drive Refuses To Start

Mar 2, 2012

I followed instructions from Apple and reformated a second boot drive with GUID partitions, loaded my Snow Leopard OS and updated to the last version. Downloaded Lion and installed, set this second HDD as the new boot drive and waited - one monitor came up but then nothing happened for so long I went away. This has happened three times now and while I'm not watching my MacPro Xenon 8 core reboots from the Snow Leopard drive..

MacBook :: Early 2008 Model - Refuses To Turn On

Jun 21, 2009

I tried restarting my MacBook (2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, early 2008 model) today. But when it turned back on it would just shut off and automatically try restarting. It did this over and over again until I just pulled the battery so it would stop. It wouldn't even let me do a force turn off. It would just start up, shut down, start up, shut down over and over again.

Windows On Mac :: Vista Refuses To Install On MacBook

Apr 10, 2009

I have tried partitioning my drive and I set the partition to 32gb. Okay, that's done and everything went well. Then I put in Windows Vista Home Premium cd and clicked start installation. done! So it rebooted. I tried letting it load by itself and not touch anything, also tried pressing the option key and clicking windows. But both came out with the same result: a grey screen forever and ever. I even tried letting it remain like this for an hour, but still the grey screen of death. I know the vista cd works as I've tried using it in vmware fusion. But vmware fusion is too laggy as I only have 1 gb of ram. Also, I even tried reformatting it twice in case there was maybe something that hindered it from loading but no still greyness.

MacBook Pro :: 17" Latest Version Won't Turn On?

May 29, 2012

I have a 17" UniBody MacBook Pro. As far as I'm aware it's the newest version. It has 8 GB of Ram and the Intel Core i7 in it.

When I attempt to turn the machine on- nothing at all happens. If I plug the MagSafe into it, I get no light or anything on the connector. Also, the battery status indicator on the left side seems entirely dead too.

Hopefully this is a simple fix, but I have a pretty bad feeling about this. It is still under warranty, but I use this MacBook in production as a DJ, and I rely heavily on it for my Midi Controller when I do a gig. (I have a few coming up really soon).

Windows On Mac :: XP SP3 Refuses To Install After First Reboot

Aug 25, 2010

This worked before and now it doesn't! I either a hal.dll or ntoskrnl.exe error. This was working perfectly on one 500G HD which OS X does not reside on (OS X is on a 80Gb SSD).

1. 150Gb Windows 7 x64
2. 80Gb Windows XP x32
3. HFS formatted for storage of OS X things.

Now whichever way I install or partition it XP refuses to install after the first reboot (after it's copied files over). Now I've spent TWO days on this now and still no closer to fixing it. Windows 7 boots and works fine, XP refuses to install even if it's the only thing on the disk!

Software :: OS X Refuses To Install On IBook G4?

Sep 17, 2008

I have a 12" iBook G4, 1.07GHz that I'm trying to reinstall OS X on after a hard drive replacement. The new drive is a standard 80GB IDE drive, fresh out of the shrink wrap. Now, when I attempt to run the install it acts rather oddly . . . it runs through the entire install script, but then at the very end errors out and says "try installing again".

I've tried three different OS X install media sets (two DVD and one CDs) and gotten the same result. I've reformatted the drive several times and run the Disk Utility repair tool, which has gone through fine. I've reset the PMU, and pulled the expansion ram and Airport card. Same result.

I'm absolutely at my wits end trying to figure this out . . . . I've tried everything I can possibly think of.

This happens whether or not "Reopen Windows" is selected at shut down from the previous session. No matter what I do, the folder keeps appearing when the computer starts up and logs me in. Now a huge deal, except that it drives me crazy having to close it every single time that I turn on the computer. why this is happening and how I can remedy it?

I saw a couple of videos on youtube showing pretty smooth performance of GTA IV on a MacBook Alu 13" 2.4 ghz model using BootCamp Windows Vista SP1. I dont want to install Windows Vista SP1 just because of that video and I want to know which version could give me even better performance. Both official and unofficial windows versions of XP, 7 and vista are under consideration. I dont need windows for anything else, just for playing a couple of games.
