I would like to sort these folders in some kind of alphabetical order. i see that I can order these manually (not convenient) and I am not finding a good option in the View pulldown.

Not in alphabetical order, size, date, kind etc...but in an order that I want them in (documents from school to be exact, I would like to sort them in the progression of the lessons from week to week). I never knew how to do this at the time and now I am kind of learning how to sort all of my docs within Finder, but this seems to be the first stumbling block that I've come across?

I have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. I just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I see the files in one of the folders in the finder, in list view only, they are organized from Z to A and I want to change that to see them from A to Z. I cannot do it. I used to change the list by clicking the ¨name¨, but now that doesn´t work. If I change the view to icons or cover flow, the same files are organized alphabetically. It seems I changed that (I mean from Z to A) once, before I got Lion, and now I cannot reverse the organization of files.

I use grid view sorted by artist. I click on an artist which brings me to the view of their albums as a list with album art on the side.Multiple times a day the sorting changes and I have to put it back. I'll click an artist and iTunes insists on sorting the albums alphabetically like this:
I'll then click on Album by Artist/Year:That way my albums are sorted chronologically, the way I want. If i go back to grid view by clicking All Artists, then view another artist, iTunes will keep my sorting order. As soon as I play a different song, click All Artists and choose another artist, iTunes will switch back to sorting albums alphabetically.
How do I force iTunes to sort my albums chronologically (or in any order I specify)? Why does it insist on sorting in only one way?
I have noticed for some reason in my contact it lists my work information before my home stuff. Normally I would not care but the autocomplete Safari uses always pull the first information. I deleted the person in the address book and readed in the order I want but it still fails.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMany records in my address book have multiple email addresses. No big deal but I wonder if there is a way to tell Address Book / Mail which address to pick as the default.
For example I send a litttle news email one a week to a group of contacts. I want to send this email to people's personal -- not business -- email address. I've created a group in Address Book and type that group name in my Mail to line and the group pops up. But a few of the records pick the corporate address and I have to go in and change those addresses.
I just tried editing one record ... I deleted both "work" and "home" addresses from a record. Then reentered them "home" first, "work" second. But when I closed the edit Address Book listed them in the original order (maybe alpha).

However I've noticed a strange behaviour with folders and files display. In windows the folders are displayed first and then the files. However in MAC the files are mixed with folders. Here is a screenshot of how they look (order by name):
There should be first the folders and then the mp3, right?
I think 2 days ago I didn't have this problem but I'm not sure. As I've said I'm new to MAC and there are many things new.
Can someone please advise how to put folders in descending date order (I am using the format e.g. 2008_12_25, and want to show latest dated folder at the top of the finder window) ?
