I would like to sort these folders in some kind of alphabetical order. i see that I can order these manually (not convenient) and I am not finding a good option in the View pulldown.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. See an attached example screenshot for Erykah Badu's Baduizm Album.

I've been downloading a couple songs onto my macbook air and they ar going into random order, how can i make it so that my songs are in alphabetical order?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)

itunes 10 imports cd tracks in alphabetical order only. What setting can I change so that it will import cd tracks in the same order as on the cd?I have this issue on only 1 of my 2 macbook pro computers, so I'm guessing it is a setting issue--but I don't know where to find it.

i would like to sort a list into alphabetical order automatically, i know Office 2007 does this. would seem lazy if Apple didn't put this in... and i have 70 References to sort.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I see the files in one of the folders in the finder, in list view only, they are organized from Z to A and I want to change that to see them from A to Z. I cannot do it. I used to change the list by clicking the ¨name¨, but now that doesn´t work. If I change the view to icons or cover flow, the same files are organized alphabetically. It seems I changed that (I mean from Z to A) once, before I got Lion, and now I cannot reverse the organization of files.

I know nothing about Macs at the moment (Windows user all my life). I bought a Mac Book Pro 5 days ago and I'm quite happy with it
However I've noticed a strange behaviour with folders and files display. In windows the folders are displayed first and then the files. However in MAC the files are mixed with folders. Here is a screenshot of how they look (order by name):
There should be first the folders and then the mp3, right?
I think 2 days ago I didn't have this problem but I'm not sure. As I've said I'm new to MAC and there are many things new.
Can someone please advise how to put folders in descending date order (I am using the format e.g. 2008_12_25, and want to show latest dated folder at the top of the finder window) ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen opening up folders and files in Finder, is there a way that would group all folders first, then files below. When I currently view in Finder, files and folders are listed in Alpha Numeric order and are mixed together in such order.
I was wondering if there was a way to separate folders vs files in Alpha Numeric order?
How I can sort my files within folders in a specific order? Not in alphabetical order, size, date, kind etc...but in an order that I want them in (documents from school to be exact, I would like to sort them in the progression of the lessons from week to week). I never knew how to do this at the time and now I am kind of learning how to sort all of my docs within Finder, but this seems to be the first stumbling block that I've come across?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a new Macbook Pro that I'm syncing through MobileMe to the older macbook pro it's replacing, as well as my desktop iMac. It has synced the mail properly, but on the laptop, which has been my main mac for mail etc, there are a lot of folders, old mail etc. I never had these folders etc on the desktop. I would now like to sync (copy) these folders and all the saved mail in them to the new laptop, and sync the whole thing with the iMac.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Lion (latest ver) on my iMac (2011, i7), and have icloud set up to sync mail (and other stuff) with my iPhone 4. My iCloud account Sent Mail and Drafts are being syncronized between the cloud the iPhone, but not the iMac. So for example, I see 2 items in my Drafts folder when I log into icloud.com, and I see them in the drafts folder on iPhone mail, but they do not appear in the drafts folder for my iCloud account on Mail.app on the iMac. Also, I don't see emails I sent from icloud.com on my Mac's mail. I have iCloud enabled on the mac, and mail syncing is specifically turned on.

MAC OS 10.6.2-MACPRO WORK STATION.-Just lately my received mail will not stay in descending alphabetical order. i.e. a-b-c-d-e etc. I change it with the arrow to do this and the next time I open mail up the order is in reverse like with-z-y-w-v-u. never had happen before and it is irritating. I have ckd. all settings etc. Anyone have any clue? I really don't want to trash the prefs. and reset everything.

I have three e-mail accounts. They duly appear in the Mail sidebar. I have dragged them into the order in which I want them, with the one I almost always use at the top and my college one (which I prefer only to use for college business) at the bottom. But quite often they — spontaneously, it seems — move around and put themselves into an order that I do not like, with the result that I accidentally send messages from the wrong e-mail address. Why do they do this, and how can I stop them and fix them in place?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a LOT of rules in Mail. For example, one of my clients has about 10 different project managers and I filter messages from each PM into a separate folder. Occasionally I need to make changes to these rules but they only display in the order in which I created them, which is a PITA. Is there any way of changing the list order, e.g. by name etc.?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have AOL for my e-mail and I synced my account to my new MBP, but it doesn't show my "Saved Mail" folder on my computer.
The only ones that are accessible are "Inbox", "Sent" and "Trash".
I was just looking at my emails in the mail app. One second all of my folders were there. The next second the ones I had made and sorted emails into were gone. I have very important emails in these which I really need to recover. I have a Time Capsule and Time Machine that backs up automatically but I have gone back a couple of backups and cannot find the missing folders.

How do a move a mail folder from iCloud to on my mac .

I use gmail as my main email account. I have it synched to my iphone (IMAP) and mail.app (IMAP). This was all running smoothly until about a week ago when I turned on my mac and opened mail. It started downloading hundreds of emails.
I looked over them and it seems that all the mails that I have moved to sub folders have been copied to my inbox again and marked as unread.
I have not knowingly changed any settings on my iphone, mac or web based gmail.
I'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account. But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below. What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.

There's something that's been bugging me for ages, literally years:
I've got a whole lot of music, 45 days worth, and I view it by date added and want to keep it that way for a number of reasons.
Problem is, when I want to play an album I have to click on the first track, then switch to album (or artist) display by the end of that track.
The other day I added an album by dragging it into iTunes in the Finder. I noticed that I could start and stop and advance and rewind tracks and it would go in order, from first to last track, even in Date Added mode, so it was visually moving up and down instead of from top to bottom.
Is there secretly a way to view in Date Added but have the next track be the next track on that album? Besides dragging the tracks into iTunes from the Finder I mean.
If anyone has a way to do this, it would seriously improve my life and I would be infinitely grateful.
Having now added a GMail IMAP account to Mail, I find that it's folders come at the bottom of the window, with 'Mailboxes', 'Trash', 'Reminders', 'On My MAc', RSS above the GMail Top level mailbox and therfore the subsequent cascaded mailboxes...
View 1 Replies View RelatedMany records in my address book have multiple email addresses. No big deal but I wonder if there is a way to tell Address Book / Mail which address to pick as the default.
For example I send a litttle news email one a week to a group of contacts. I want to send this email to people's personal -- not business -- email address. I've created a group in Address Book and type that group name in my Mail to line and the group pops up. But a few of the records pick the corporate address and I have to go in and change those addresses.
I just tried editing one record ... I deleted both "work" and "home" addresses from a record. Then reentered them "home" first, "work" second. But when I closed the edit Address Book listed them in the original order (maybe alpha).
