Aug 17, 2009Assign applications to spaces. Assign an application to any space from its icon in the Dock with a click. Quickly spread your work out in different spaces by assigning an application to a space right from the Dock. Just right-click the Dock icon and select a space for the application. I cannot find this feature in the latest build.

Sep 28, 2009I have spaces assigned to my mouse buttons and one day it stopped working. I assumed my mouse button went bad until I tried another mouse. The button is assigned correctly spaces just doesn't respond to it...sometimes. Sometimes it works find. Has anyone else had this? I'm trying to narrow down if its my system or not.

Mar 22, 2012I have looked in the forums and haven't found anything specific to my issue. I can't tap F8 because it starts music in my iTunes, so I set it up with right click on my mouse (yep using a mouse). When the spaces applications show up on my screen in squares, only Firefox shows up,and the others show up as blue squares with nothing in them. How do I get them to show up? I have the applications assigned to different spaces, not the same one. I have spaces enabled as well.

Not in alphabetical order, size, date, kind etc...but in an order that I want them in (documents from school to be exact, I would like to sort them in the progression of the lessons from week to week). Apr 12, 2012Many records in my address book have multiple email addresses. No big deal but I wonder if there is a way to tell Address Book / Mail which address to pick as the default.Â
For example I send a litttle news email one a week to a group of contacts. I want to send this email to people's personal -- not business -- email address. I've created a group in Address Book and type that group name in my Mail to line and the group pops up. But a few of the records pick the corporate address and I have to go in and change those addresses.Â
I just tried editing one record ... I deleted both "work" and "home" addresses from a record. Then reentered them "home" first, "work" second. But when I closed the edit Address Book listed them in the original order (maybe alpha).Â

OS X :: Spaces Little More Difficult To Work With On Snow Leopard - "feature" Missing?
Sep 13, 2009Before I got this new Snow Leopard I would hit f8 to bring up spaces, then move the cursor to say the upper left space, and then hit f8 again to move to that space. Now though, I have to move the cursor to the upper left space and then actually click the mouse button on it to go to this space. If I hit f8 without clicking, I just come back to the space Im already on.
Why this bother me is because first of all I work quicker the other way, no biggy though. BUT before I could also drag a file from one space to another because I could switch space only by using f8 and moving the cursor. Now when I have to click on the damn thing it'll "release" the file Im trying to drag, so I cant drag between spaces in the same cool and quick way.

Feb 5, 2012In FINDER favorites can I reassign/edit the destination (properties) so that when I click e.g. on the "Pictures" link it takes me to my Pic folder on my external HDD instead of the default HDD in the iMac. I have twelve TB of data sitting on 2 Drobo devices and I do not intend to keep any data on the Internal 1TB HDD besides the programs. I know I can remove the current fav from the list and add a link myself but then I get an ordinary folder icon instead of the sexy camera icon. how can I change the icon on the folder.Â

Dec 29, 2009I'm late to the game with Snow Leopard and just upgraded today. The very first thing I noticed is that I can no longer active Spaces and then choose which Space I want with a number key. For example, in Leopard I had F19 mapped to display the Spaces view and then click '2' on the numberpad to display the second space. I used this A LOT and it was extremely fast and useful for me. But now with Snow Leopard, F19 will display the Spaces view, but clicking any numbers on the keypad doesn't do anything. I checked the preferences, but the only option is to select a key combination (ex: ^ Number Keys). I want to be able to hit *just* the number key.

Jun 23, 2012I have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. See an attached example screenshot for Erykah Badu's Baduizm Album.

Feb 13, 2010There's something that's been bugging me for ages, literally years:
I've got a whole lot of music, 45 days worth, and I view it by date added and want to keep it that way for a number of reasons.
Problem is, when I want to play an album I have to click on the first track, then switch to album (or artist) display by the end of that track.
The other day I added an album by dragging it into iTunes in the Finder. I noticed that I could start and stop and advance and rewind tracks and it would go in order, from first to last track, even in Date Added mode, so it was visually moving up and down instead of from top to bottom.
Is there secretly a way to view in Date Added but have the next track be the next track on that album? Besides dragging the tracks into iTunes from the Finder I mean.
If anyone has a way to do this, it would seriously improve my life and I would be infinitely grateful.

Jun 7, 2012I just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)Â

Jun 9, 2008I got the phrase "Stealing Focus" from Opera- it has an option where no webpage can put it's tab to the front of your view over what you were doing. I've had iMovie doing stuff all night and when it's done generating thumbnails or rendering/exporting a movie it always jumps to it's Space. Even when I switch immediately back to what I was doing in another Space it sometimes does it. AARGH- it's just done it now! Can't I just rely on the iMovie icon doing it's Zebedee impression on the Dock and switch back when I'm done?

Jun 13, 2009... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Software Update After Snow Leopard Clean Install
Jul 3, 2012Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store).When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.
I began researching this problem online and found that other people have been experiencing this same problem (or some variation of it), and it seems like it began appearing around the time Apple updated some of its security certificates in March.In particular, I've found several references to the missing iPhoto update.This one is especially noticeable because an iPhoto library created in iPhoto 9.2.3 will not open in iPhoto 9.0, and this generates an error upon opening the program (i.e., a user backs up their iPhoto library created in 9.2.3, performs a SL clean install, reinstalls iLife, goes through the Software Update process until it shows that no more updates are available, and are shocked to find that they are unable to open their backed up iPhoto library because they have an out of date version of iPhoto).The most common (and admittedly logical) solution proposed in the threads I've read is to download any necessary updates directly from the Apple website. However, I am curious as to why this previously functional feature now appears to be broken.Has anyone else been struggling with this? Does it indeed have something to do with the new security certificates? Is Apple aware of the problem?

Oct 4, 2010I'm currently using a MBP 13 inch and am running Leopard on it.
I just bought a copy of snow leopard today but i don't know if I should do a direct upgrade from leopard to snow leopard, or wipe my MBP and do a fresh install so i have snow leopard on a clean slate.
Have any of you tried the second option before? Or do any of you have advice on which path I should take?
