After I go to a few sites my computer starts to take a long time loading pages - also in Mail after I view a few emails mail doesn't let me preview. I have to restart my computer to illuminate the lag. Is the computer saving too much cache or other info?- What can I change in my browser and mail preferences to stop this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can turn on my mac, the beach ball starts spinning and stays spinning for awhile, finally starts up but then quickly shuts back down? I have never encountered this type of problem with my desktop before! I have checked all the power supplies and reset the powercord, I unplugged the computer and tried to reboot it to no avail. Does anyone know how to do the type of reboot where you hold down the power button and two keys (?) wait for the 2nd chime then let go of the keys? I believe that is how it's done.

My Macbook is brand new! (Barely 4 months old) Just recently my laptop will flash a black screen. It starts from the bottom and quickly flashes up the screen higher and higher each flash! i have read on some other pages it is a bad inverter on the inner core of the Macbook. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using MacMail for a month now, and I'm a bit confused by the written out NAME that always accompanies the email addy. When I send someone an email that says, "<Joanne the skinny lawyer Polson> joanne@law.com" does she see that I'm calling her a skinny lawyer? (as a way to remember people, I've been putting notes with their names for years. Maybe I gotta re-edit all of my contacts?)
Additionally, when I try to copy the email addy for a contact -- or copy a huge batch of 300 names -- mac so 10.6.2 copies the email addy AND the name! I want to drag 300 email addys into facebook, but it keeps giving me all the clutter of the contact as well. Even when I want to just quickly click on one email addy and export it to another app, it wont do it simply.
How do I quickly change writing direction in mail without going trough 7 different menu options? Is there a quick keyboard shortcut, or maybe an icon I can add to the mail bar?

I have a Gmail and Exchange accounts set up in the Mail app,...The Gmail account is working fine, but suddenly today (with no setting changes or updates) when I select certain messages in the exchange account, it crashes Mail with the below trace. It only happens on some message and not others. I can't find any distinction between the crashing messages and the ok ones. Note that I have already tried rebuilding mailboxes and even deleting the entire account and re-adding it. The problem persists and makes it impossible to use Mail as my Exchange client.

I like my MacBook Air, but the font size when drafting email is a bit too small. For viewing regular email, I know I can use the Command and "=" to increase the size, but that does not work on the drafting window. how to increase the font size I view when drafting. (Just to be clear, this is just for my viewing -- I am not interested in changing the font in the email that is sent (I know how to do that).)

I tried everything that has been suggested for these cases: removed beta version of Safari, remove Growl and any other third parties, remove the preferences file (.plist) and the user/Library/Mail folder. Nothing works! I set up another account on my Mac and Mail works there! I tried to use the new files that Mail generated for this new account for the old account but I couldn't make Mail to run.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have gone to system preferences and removed the checkbox near the mail app for login items. This is fine. But the mail app still starts on boot.If I look at the item in the dock, there is a tick next to the option "open at login". I can not remove this tick!If I select the item and re open the context menu, it's still there. If I do this with any other app, the tick toggles. Mail however, refuses to be unticked and wants to be started with the system.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use iCal on my Mac and sync it to my gmail calendar account, but use gmail as my email program. I often set reminders for meetings/birthdays etc to email me prior to the task occurring, to my email address.
These emails are arriving fine in my gmail account, however each time I open my computer a little pop up box comes up with an iCal alarm, which also forces the mac "mail" program to start the setup guide, asking me to setup my mail program.
Does anyone know why the Mail program setup always starts when an iCal alarm is triggered, but more importantly how I can stop it? Its really really annoying having to cancel it every single day.
This update has totaled anything having to do with Safari, Mail starts and retrieves but I can't read mail. Anything that uses Safari browsing engine is screwed.

The past couple of days, for no apparent reason, my iCloud mail account starts acting strangely. Everytime Mail tries to connect to a server called "p03-imap.mail.me.com" and pops up the message that my password is rejected for my user name. This started happening without me doing anything to my settings. Strangely enough, on my iPhone and my newly acquired iPad2 this issue does not appear. Has something changed on the me.com servers ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got limited hard drive space. In gmail, I keep my inbox pared down to just a few emails I'm actively working on (ie 3-10 emails at a time). Everything else gets archived. However, when I try to set up Mac Mail for gmail (as described on 50 different websites), my computer starts downloading thousands of emails - my sent mail, anything I've tagged, etc. I don't want all this. I just want the few active emails (my inbox) at any one time.
I've tried mapping folders in Mail (ie Use this folder for....), but can't seem to pare it down to just the inbox.
Is it possible to save a site to your Top Sites? By save, I mean, to have it always be on one of the blocks.

I have also noticed that the temp fluctuates very quickly, from 49C to 63C within 10 seconds when just surfing macrumors when I look at istat pro. So how hot does you MBA rev B get? Mine is a 1.86 SSD version and even though the enclosure doesn't get very hot stays in the low 30s I wonder if this is normal. temperature If I watch an episode of CSI Miami on cbs.com temp goes to 76C (176F) and fans go to 6200rpms. Enclosure still stays at 35C (95F). Is this what you get with the MBA rev B as well or is this something I should be concerned about and consider opening it to see the thermal paste and possibly re-apply?

as five steps is far too long winded with the amount of printing I am dealing with every day.What I really need to do is to print Paypal invoices WITHOUT them going over to a second page and wasting ink/paper.
I have many printed sheets of contacts that I need to import to address book. Other than manually typing or through the magic of ocr (url...) then copying and pasting to address book, is there an easy way to input these contacts?I've found world card mobile (url...) on the iphone where I can take photo's of the contacts and the apps ocr will correctly put about 80% of the proper information in but the phone runs out of batteries and it's about the same time as copying and pasting.
I'm wondering is there a computer version of world card that would at least put the information in the right spot and I can make just minor adjustments. Or is there a way that I can make the pdf in to an excel or numbers format and the use one of those excel to vcard apps to do it all in one shot? it's a lot of contacts, over 10k.
