Am I imagining it, or did Cmd-W use to close the active tab only? Now when I want to close a tab,I hit Cmd-W and suddenly my entire Safari window closes.I notice in the File Menu that Cmd-W is set to close window and there is now no keyboard shortcut to close a tab. When did this change and why? Is there any way to get the old functionality back? I am using Safari 5.1.7, Mac OS X 10.7.4 on a Mac Pro

Ever since updating to Safari 5 (33h and 19m ago on an Aluminium 20" iMac with 2.0GHz and Mac OS X 10.6.3), SHIFT+TAB closes application windows for me, instead of going in reverse (like with buttons and text fields in Safari).I've checked System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and couldn't find anything. it seems, to only close windows instead of quitting applications
everytime i open safari it closes all my other programs. it will go to a blue screen for a second. then right back to my desktop but all my programs i had open are closed. i.e. itunes & garageband. it's seems everytime i try to watch video on yahoo.
Safari quickly gets bloated-starts low and goes to over a GB. Very slooow.I've cleaned it out several times-once with an Apple genius.I have a Macbook Pro Aluminum with 4GBCan anyone suggest a fix-I really like Safari
how I can quickly print the first page I am looking at in SafariI cant seem to find an option to print page one of however many there are.
I dont want to have to go:-
Print>Preview>File>Print selected page>Print
as five steps is far too long winded with the amount of printing I am dealing with every day. What I really need to do is to print Paypal invoices WITHOUT them going over to a second page and wasting ink/paper.
I am running a PB g4 with 10.4 When I start Safari, it takes forever to load. I then try typing a letter into google search, or to log into any site or change the site. then it freezes and "unexpectedly closes"
So my itunes randomly changed colours(it's a really dark grey now, can post ss if needed), lags, and closes itself anytime I try to add a song to it or do anything on it.I've tried reinstalling it many times but have had 0 luck with it. I found a few other similar threads to this one and tried the things listed in them but again had no luck with it so I decided to post my own.
At first when it started happening I had songs on it, whenever I tried to make it go to the next song it would close itself. If I didn't try and pick another song it would randomly close itself after playing for a bit. After reinstalling it would not even let me add songs, anytime I try and select movies, or anything other then the main music thing it closes itself.By the way, it's a macbook OS X version 10.4.11
I just bought a 13 inch MBP yesterday. I know macbooks are supposed to sleep when the lid is closed by default. But a few times when I opened the lid, the computer had appeared to turn completely off. The indicator light on the front was steady when the lid was closed, not blinking like I believe it is supposed to be when sleeping.Â
I have noticed that periodically some sort of program pops up in my dock for a split second, then disappears. It's too quick to click it with my mouse or see what the icon looks like. Nothing different shows up in my recent apps menu. Is there a way I can track what programs open on my Mac to find out what this program is? Or does anyone know what this could be?
I have Mac OS X 10.6 and when I select to close a disk image or disk drive Finder automatically closes. Anyone know of a way to prevent this from happening?
I've just noticed this happening tonight. I did perform todays Mac Update but I don't know if they are related. Whenever I try to open "Macintosh HD" (my boot drive) the Finder closes. Does anyone know what the solution could be? I was able to run a "verify disk" and it said there were errors so I did a reboot to my Snow Leopard start up disk and was able to repair the errors.
I've googled everything I can think of and can't seem to find anyone else with this issue. I'd rather not have to reimage the machine. Upon further investigation I've noticed that the problem seemed to have started on June 20th. I can access the back-up folders of my Time Machine for "Macintosh HD" for all dates prior but starting on the 20th if I try to access the Macintosh HD backup folder, Finder shuts down just as it does with the current Macintosh HD.
I have an iphone and ipods. I have tried several times to sync each one and every time I get to step 2 or 3 out of 7 or 8 and then itunes "quits unexpectedly"
I open System Prefs and click 'Print & Fax'. I click + to add a printer. The dialog box opens for a few seconds and then closes. Just that window. I cannot add a printer at all or even print anything for that matter. I ran Printer Therapy and it finds nothing wrong. Same with TechTool Pro. Nothing seems to be wrong except this.
I'm having problems launching Adobe Illustrator CS4, it closes by itself on start up, this is the trial version of course, but my days aren't up, I've tried uninstalling and installing again, doesn't work. I just wanna use illustrator.. I've got Adobe Photoshop aswell and its working perfectly fine..
When i double click the HD icon on my desktop the screen flashes real quickly and the window pops open and closes. If i use the 'Go' option in the menu bar i can only view in column mode. when i chose list mode the window flashes and closes immediately.
ALSO when i got to view options.. i do not have all the choices. the bottom half of the window is missing (ie:show items, snap to grid etc)
Anyone know WHY? i have tried trashing the finder plist from preferences.. to no avail. i have zapped PRAM. i have used disk util to repair. Any other ideas?
Whenever I'm on my Mac-book Pro, I always get these pop up windows (like, the ones with the yellow triangle and exclamation mark). But before I can even read them, they close by themselves—they pop up for, like, less than a second and then close. It's kind of annoying, and I don't know if I should be worried about them or not... I would like to know what they say, but that's not going to happen apparently.
My Itunes works properly, except for everytime i watch movies and I want to try to go to full-screen modus. My Itunes either closes or there is just a black display with sound. The problem is then cannot exit with esc or apple Q,or even pushing the start-button of my macbook.
I run OSX 10.5.8 with Mail 3.6. I have used Mail templates successfully many times. Today I decided to make a custom template and followed the directions in Mail Help. When I saved my custom template, Mail closed and gave me the report window. The report could not be submitted. I can open Mail and do all normal Mail functions, except for the templates. Now, every time I open templates, the Mail app closes and gives me the report window, and each time the report window will not submit the report. I don't really need to make custom templates, I was just trying to learn something new. I do like the standard templates and would like to be able to use them. I closed Mail and re-opened. I shut down the computer and rebooted but no luck. How I can get back to the way things were?

I click on check for updates, it scans, find them... then gives the options of show details, not now, or continue, I hit continue, it starts to load them up, then at the end it says error and closes out.
I'm running Mavericks on my late 2013 MacBook Pro. When I try to access a shared computer on my network, the Finder window closes as soon as I click on the computer I want to access. File sharing is turned on on the target computers, both iMacs, one is running Mavericks and the other is running Mountain Lion. The iMacs can access the MacBook Pro and each other without a problem. Firewall is not on on the iMac. Is there a setting I am missing
