OS X :: Unable To Startup - Disk0s2: I/O Error

I tried to on my mac this morning and just like usual, the "chime" when off and the gray screen with the apple logo came out together with the spinning gear.

However today, it took longer than usual on the spinning gear and my mac osx did not startup and my mac switched off automatically.

I then tried to boot my mac osx in safe mode(+verbose) and I got the following error:

Unfortunately I'm in Italy without any of my install disks and my new macbook just crashed. Got it about a week ago, been runnin great until I shut it off last night and went to turn in on this morning. I'm stuck in the loading screen and when I check for errors i get the disk0s2 error. I've been running World of Warcraft but on my last macbook pro it was never an issue and it hasn't been an issue on this computer for about 5 days. Is there anyway I can fix this error while in europe?

Mac Mini :: Won't Boot / Disk0s2: I/O Error
I have boot camp installed, and when I hold the Option key down at startup, I see the Windows Vista drive (but can't select it). After about a minute, the Mac OSX drive shows up. I can select the Mac drive, but then I get stuck at the grey screen again.

I tried starting up in Single User mode and at the command prompt, ran /sbin/fsck -fy but got a couple "disk0s2: I/O errors" followed by "Invalid node structure" and "The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired." (see attached photo of exact message).

Mac Mini :: Restarting - Input / Output Error "disk0s2: 0xe0030005 (undefined)"
I was having a very slow reaction time when searching internet and loading applications, so I closed all my apps, then restarted the computer. Now, for the first time ever, it gives me a black screen with an input/output error. also says: disk0s2: 0xe0030005 (undefined).

Seems very odd. I've spent several hours scouring discussions and have yet to find any similar problem discussed. I have two external drives connected and a wireless router. I've tried to unplug a few of my external devices, but still no use.

MacBook Pro :: Stuck On Grey Screen With Apple Logo "disk0s2 I/O Error 2009"
I have a Macbook Pro 13 from the summer of 2009. After Christmas I decided to upgrade my hard drive and memory. This is what I got. [URL] For about a week everything seemed to work perfectly. I then began to have problems almost every day (finder crashing, etc). I reinstalled OSX probably 5 times using my previous account until finally did a clean wipe and reinstalled OSX again. It now seems to be working for the most part, but booting takes about two minutes. It gets stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo with the turning gear for a couple of minutes before it boots. Normally it wouldn't bother me too much, but after the problems I was having before, I really wanted to make sure that there was no problem with my new hard drive or memory. After doing the usual suggestions for slow boot time (resetting PRAM, disconnecting external devices, repairing disk permissions, etc.) nothing changed. I booted into verbose mode and it seems to hang up for awhile before listing

disk0s2 i/o error

It does this twice before booting, hanging up for about a minute before giving the error. I am not sure if i should return it under warranty because I am not sure its broken. Like I said, it seems perfectly fine right now with the exception of the boot time. Using the Apple Hardware Check, even the extended check, didn't give any errors. The SMART status for the hard drive is verified. Is this clearly a hard drive issue, or could it be something else? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Mac Pro :: Unable To Work With Startup / Sending Error
Lately (started this morning), I've been getting some weird startup problems during startup. When pressing the start button, the fans spin to the max endlessly, most of the time the screen stays black without the Apple chime and computer doesn't start. After three times of shutting it down, it usually starts but performance isn't quite the same and i immediately get this error.

Power Mac G5 :: Imaged Startup Drive To New RAID But It Unable To Startup
I just got a nice new iMac, and decided to redo the 2 identical drives in my old PowerMac G5 into a Mirrored RAID. The G5 has 10.4.11 installed, the iMac has 10.6.

I used the new Intel iMac to make an image of the G5's startup drive across FireWire800 onto the iMac's HD. That part seems to have gone fine.

I used the iMac's Disk Utility to turn the G5's internal drives into a Mirrored RAID, then Restored the Startup Drive from the image file to the new RAID. Looking at it across the FireWire hookup, it appears all the files copied successfully.

Laptops :: Startup Disk Error - Cannot Boot To Mac Partition
I partitioned windows XP onto my Mac HD a few days ago. It worked beautifully until last night. Whenever I booted to it, it stuck at the welcome screen for 10 minutes, and was really buggy upon startup. This morning, my MacBook Pro (bought in August '09) upon turning on automatically boots to windows XP. No amount of holding "c" or "Alt" will bring up rEFIt or boot camp selection pane. And the kicker is, the windows XP partition is completely corrupted.

Here's what happens now:
1) Turn Macbook Pro on, hold down "c" or "Alt"
2) White background for ~ten minutes, nothing happens
3) After a long time, boots to black screen and says "Startup Disk Error... Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

I'm pretty sure its trying to boot to Windows XP partition, because Ctrl+Alt+Del is not a Mac OS X command... But I can't boot to my Mac OS X partition.

MacBook Pro :: Internal Keyboard Error Interfering With Startup Keys?
I spilled coffee on my MBP a few weeks ago and then as a result, the shift key is stuck in the down position. It's not physically stuck, neither the left or right shift keys feel "sticky", but whenever I type on the internal keyboard IT ALL GOES TO CAPS, among other things (like slow animations). I'm working around the issue with an external keyboard. However, this doesn't work when starting up.

I got a new iMac today and I want to transfer everything on my MBP over to it and then ship the MBP off for repair. The problem is, I can't put my computer in target disk mode because I can't hold down the T key, it ends up recognizing it as SHIFT+T, which doesn't do anything.

I've googled for a way to disable the internal keyboard, but I've got nothing. The unibody frame makes accessing the keyboard very difficult.

Power Mac G5 :: Unable To Startup
I have been trying to start up my Mac G5 desk top. On pressing the power button on the tower, I can hear the motor and the fan begin. The "spinning gear" icon appears on the screen as normal but after three seconds it is covered by a small orange box. The monitors then display a kind of static and there are no visible desk top icons and the keyboard is disabled - so that I can't open the optical drive. I have had the computer for just under two years. Recently I went overseas for six weeks and unplugged it from the wall, however it has been working fine for the last two weeks, since I got back.

OS X :: Kernel Panic At Startup - Unable To Boot
Yesterday I was helping someone getting to know their MacBook Pro (early 2008, Intel core 2 duo 2.4GHz, Mac OS X 10.5.2). I installed Perian and Flip4Mac and Firefox 3.6. I also checked for updates because she's on a very old version. I tried downloading the updates, but because we had a very bad internet connection I stopped the download quite early on and told her to do it at home. However after I left she tried to shut down the computer but it hanged. She manually shut it down using the power button. When she tried to turn it on again she got a kernel panic message saying she should reboot. This however didn't work.

Now I've tried all sorts of things. I've removed Perian and Flip4Mac manually. I did a disk verification (all was well) and a permissions verification and repair. I tried booting in safe mode (still won't boot) clearing the SMC and resetting PRAM, none of it worked. I just wanted to check here first before either taking it to an Apple store or reinstalling Mac OS X. I've read on forums about hardware failing (RAM mostly). No idea if that's the case. I tried a hardware test, but I don't have her DVDs and used my own with version 10.5.5. The Standard test said it was all ok, but the extended test seemed to hang. I could ask for her own DVDs which I will need anyway if I'm going to reinstall Mac OS X.

Some details of the kernel panic:
The error code is: 0x000000010
Apart from that it says the following:
Backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointer 0
Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):>0x2e65afff
And later on it says: Mac OS version: Not yet set.

And of course it shows some more info with lots of hex codes, I can type them out for you if you like, but I read elsewhere that the error message is usually not very useful. Would you recommend going to an Apple store to see if the RAM is faulty? Or do a reinstall of Mac OS X?

Hardware :: Unable To Find Internal HD At Startup - IBook G4
My iBook G4 (see sig below) has an intermittent problem. It usually sits on my desk, plugged into the power adaptor, always on. The only time I ever do a shutdown is when I'm taking it with me to the airport. Here's where the problem happens -- WHEN it happens. I start it up and one of two things happens:

1. I get the old question mark disk icon, or
2. I get a plain grey screen

Sometimes, if I do a manual force reboot (cmd-ctrl-power) several times in a row, it will finally boot correctly. The lovely grey Apple logo shows up, and all is well.Other times, when that fails, I boot from a DiskWarrior CD. Sometimes it can't see the internal HD. Other times it sees it, and when I run DW, it does find errors to fix. Yet other times, DW sees it, and finds NO errors.

When the iBook is working, the internal HD's SMART status shows as Good.So, whatup with this? Is the drive actually going bad (SMART status notwithstanding), or is it maybe the controller or some other logic board component? I could chuck the iBook and get a nice new MacBook, but this 2004 antique still suits my needs.

P.S. BTW, the internal HD backs up to an external FW drive daily, so there will be minimum heartache if/when the thing totally bites it.
