MacBook Pro :: Disk0s2 Cannot Be Repaired - Is There A Way To Recover Files On Computer
Jun 30, 2014
My computer had a spinning wheel yesterday that would not go away, so I forced a shutdown (had done it before with no problems). However, now my computer goes straight to the diagnostic tool, and when I try to repair disk0s2, it cannot be repaired. I didn't have Time Machine automatically running, and my most recent backup is too old and I don't want to lose all of our pictures. is there any other way to recover files off of this disk?Â

I have an imac and a few months ago I wiped the computer using a 7 pass wipe or whatever it's called - i totally wiped everything off the computer as i thought it had a virus. I also then reformatted my external hard drive. My mac and my harddrive now have new data on but can you beleive it, I have lost a very important document which was on my mac before it was wiped and was on my external hard drive and I really need it back.

Lately I've noticed that when I repair permissions, it's the same files that keep appearing the log of files being "repaired"... which leads me to believe they're not actually being repaired at all.
It's at the point where I can repair permissions once, generating a log of repaired files, and then if I repair permissions again immediately afterwards (whether I've closed and reopened Disk Utility in the mean time or not), the same exact list of files appears as being repaired.

Well my 2006 1.83 C2D died last week. I don't think it's the HDD, I believe it's the logic board.
When I boot the machine I get a grey screen with a spinning wheel for infinity. A day before it was doing this at reboot but after 10 minutes or so the logon screen would appear and hte machine would work normally.
The 160GB HDD in the machine is less than a year old having replaced the 60gb drive that fried back then after 3.5yrs hard use.
The machine is no longer worth salvage IMHO and I've ordered a new MBP to replace it, but I need some of the data on the old drive, such as the contents of mail and iPhoto.
If I plug the old drive into a USB cariage and assuming the drive is not duff, is there any easy way to migrate the data?

I had a Sony Vaio desktop computer and about two years ago I installed a system update from Windows which completely corrupted my hard drive. It wouldn't be such a big deal except I had about a year of photos which I had not backed up. I purchased around $300 of various (and supposedly reputable) data and photo recovery software; however, none of them worked. I could recover thumbnails and that's it.
I currently have a Macbook with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running OSx 10.5.8. I also have Parallels with Windows XP. My question is: If I buy a suitable adapter to connect my Vaio's hard drive to my Mac, could I potentially try something else to recover the photos? Or would it just be a waste of time?

I made the dumbest mistake last night by shutting off my macbook when it wasn't exactly finished installing updates. Now everytime I turn it on, it says that I need to restart my macbook. Is there any way to fix this?

Some days ago I lost all of my 15 GB folders and files that stored in my Macbook Pro hard drive called DATA. I brought my Macbook pro to an experienced computer tecnicians who providing data recovery services. To his and my suprise, after checking, scanning it a few hours, he said their is no way to recover because he did not find any trails at all. The computer still seems working properly - I have no problem with any applications. There are few other folders in the DATA hard disk containing pictures, computer programs still remain. These lost folders and files contain mainly documents (word, excel, power point, pdf etc) which I accumulated in my many years working !!!!. I did not make a back up since last September partly because I think Mac is very safe.Â
The computer with me all the time on that day and only my son used Power Point to make a simple presentation on that evening - he can not save it on the folders the he normally use - All the folders and files are gone.Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MhZ DDR3

I cannot believe I am actually in this position, but I accidentally reformatted my lacie 1TB external HD. The files were not overwritten as it was the most basic and quick format option, but they are not accessible.
Can anyone recommend a good data recovery app that works for OS X?
Anyone know what the best course of action would be?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Booting from an external drive and running DW4 on MAC OS 10.7. Trying to recover from preview pane as my internal drive will not rebuild. The folders on the internal MacHD are visible in the preview but have "minus" on them and I will not copy. It is showing it has zero bytes and when I click on the copy from the preview pane I get a message that says the operation cannot be completed because I have insufficient privilages. My ultimate goal is to get out the home folder for the user and migrate the the user files to a new MacBook Pro.

I tried to on my mac this morning and just like usual, the "chime" when off and the gray screen with the apple logo came out together with the spinning gear.
However today, it took longer than usual on the spinning gear and my mac osx did not startup and my mac switched off automatically.
I then tried to boot my mac osx in safe mode(+verbose) and I got the following error:

I have boot camp installed, and when I hold the Option key down at startup, I see the Windows Vista drive (but can't select it). After about a minute, the Mac OSX drive shows up. I can select the Mac drive, but then I get stuck at the grey screen again.
I tried starting up in Single User mode and at the command prompt, ran /sbin/fsck -fy but got a couple "disk0s2: I/O errors" followed by "Invalid node structure" and "The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired." (see attached photo of exact message).

My dear baby, a 3 year old macbook pro died last week (way to young). Fried logicboard. Apple wants 1.550 dollars to fix it, so I guess it is gone for good.
My question is, is it possible to take out the harddisk, put it in an external enclosure and plug it in to another mac to get the files?? If so, what enclosure should I buy?It is a summer 2007 macbook pro.

My MacBook's hard drive died last night, but luckily I have a backup from earlier that day on my Time Machine enabled external HD. My friend has a MacBook, and I have a paper due for a class in about a week, so I was wondering if I could hook my HD to her computer and recover just the word document. I would have tried this by now if the guy at the store who's replacing my hard drive had not told me to be extremely careful when trying this or else it won't restore when I get my computer back.

I have a Macbook Pro 13 from the summer of 2009. After Christmas I decided to upgrade my hard drive and memory. This is what I got. [URL] For about a week everything seemed to work perfectly. I then began to have problems almost every day (finder crashing, etc). I reinstalled OSX probably 5 times using my previous account until finally did a clean wipe and reinstalled OSX again. It now seems to be working for the most part, but booting takes about two minutes. It gets stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo with the turning gear for a couple of minutes before it boots. Normally it wouldn't bother me too much, but after the problems I was having before, I really wanted to make sure that there was no problem with my new hard drive or memory. After doing the usual suggestions for slow boot time (resetting PRAM, disconnecting external devices, repairing disk permissions, etc.) nothing changed. I booted into verbose mode and it seems to hang up for awhile before listing
disk0s2 i/o error
It does this twice before booting, hanging up for about a minute before giving the error. I am not sure if i should return it under warranty because I am not sure its broken. Like I said, it seems perfectly fine right now with the exception of the boot time. Using the Apple Hardware Check, even the extended check, didn't give any errors. The SMART status for the hard drive is verified. Is this clearly a hard drive issue, or could it be something else? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I've been reading this site for a couple of years, this is my first time typing.
Computer crashed, nothing is accessable, at the advice of my nearest mac dealer, I did an erase and restore with my system disks, but now itunes says "all the music for my account has already been downloaded."
How can I recover this?

I've had my iMac for a few years now and have not upgraded the software from the osX 10.4.7 that it came with.
Recently it has decided not to boot, it just stays on the grey screen with the apple logo and spinning symbol.
I booted frrom the install CDs and choose the option of saving past user data but it keeps getting to a point where it says error please try again.
I've tried setting the computer as a target drive and reading the drive through another mac. The hard drive is recognised but I cannot access it.
I have several gb worth of photos I don't want to lose and I also have some work stuff, nothing massive in terms of file sizes.
How can I recover these files?
