Nov 5, 2010I have recorded a video on an SDHD card with my video camera in MOV format. As far as I know, this should play or be detected in IMovie. However, when I try to put it into IMovie, it says no files. It plays on my camera, a JVC GY-HM100U. I do not want to connect the camera using the USB port.

Apr 14, 2009Hi guys im trying to censor out profanity in my iMovie project, so far i put the little beep sound at the part where i want to block but as it plays it plays the beep AND the curs word so you can hear it, how can i make it so that ONLY the beep can be herd and not the curs word, like mute that part of the clip.. Someone help? i can't seem to find a way.

Nov 8, 2005I've created an iMovie that's full of transitions, effects, and titles. Now I have a problem that I found a typo in one of the titles, and I want to go back and change it. One problem, it's in a clip that has a transition, and trying to delete the transition crashed iMovie. (A nice generic 'The application iMovieHD quit unexpectedly.') This is with iMovie 5.0.2 on OS X 10.4.3, on two separate computers. (The two in my .sig)
Short description: So, to start from the beginning, I have a 'source' clip. I then added a title to this clip (Music Video style.) Then I used the 'slow' function to slow the clip to 1/3 normal speed. Finally, I transitioned from this clip to the next clip with a 1 second-long dissolve. (The next clip has the same type of title and slow done to it, only with different text.)
Excrutiatingly long description: This clip has no transition leading in (although there is a clip before it,) and the clip following has no transition leading out. (So these two clips could be considered to be a single group that could theoretically be taken separately from the rest of the movie.) Trying to remove a similar transition from similar clips in the movie also fails. (The movie consists of 20 clips from DV, each of the 20 with the same type of title, each with the same 1/3 slowdown, paired up with a dissolve transition between the pairs. The clips are in groups of four, with a black intro text at the beginning of each group, a fade from black into the first clip, followed by two transitioned clips, two more transitioned clips, a third set of transitioned clips, and a clip that fades to black, then a 'postscript' text. Then the cycle starts again, five groups like this in a row.

Mar 10, 2012How to get IMovie to recognize that I changed the dates of movie clips that I had to import into IPhoto. Subsequently I deleted an event in IPhoto and the darn thing still appeared in IMovie so that option of just deleting and starting all over again seems not to work. (I did not go into trash and really delete it so IMovie might just follow the clips to Trash!) I happened to find that in the Iphoto Library is a file called IMovie Data (In Thumbnails file folder). If I delete that file, will it cause IMovie to regenerate the thumbnails and put all of my photos and clips in the data order I now have corrected in IPhoto?

Sep 23, 2009I used a Sony miniDV camcorder for several years and recorded a lot of video. I bought a Sony HDR-HC7 High Def camcorder and am now trying to download some of the video tapes I recorded on the old Sony camcorder. The video clips chop short and the I can't understand the audio. I'm using imovie 06 and a PowerPC G4 loaded. I think I may need to buy a camera like I had and play the tapes back on it. What do you think? I'm pretty sure I have the setting on the camera and computer set properly.

I have about 10 of them done already, with each side of the record in its own garageband project. Now i need to go about splitting each side into separate tracks. MacBook Air :: Import To Air Video Recorded On Digital Tape?
Apr 24, 2012Have just finished movie on MacAir with material from camcorder's hard drive. No problem in transferring material from the brand new camera. I have older digital material recorded on tape cassettes by Sony videocam which I would like to re-work with iMovie11. The iMovi11 manual says transfer to the Air requires a FireWire connection. I still have the older digital camera and the cables that came with it but neither the Air nor my Toshiba laptop have FireWire ports. Any thoughts on how to effect a transfer?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: DVDs Recorded On Earlier Macs Will Not Play
May 1, 2012I have been using Macs since 1992, upgrading to new operating systems as they came out. Now have Lion 10.7.3. I have recorded video/movie clips mostly from online sources. I have never had problems playing these back until now in all my previous Macs. Now some will play, others when I click the play button come up with the message "supported disc not available". Do I have to buy an old Mac computer with earlier OSX operating systems to play these again? How can I transfer the content to a form that Lion will recognize if they will not open.

OS X :: A Part Of The Top Menu Bar Not Showing?
Jun 24, 2009I've restarted my Powerbook G4, but it's still doing the same thing: it's not displaying part of the top menubar (regardless of whether I'm on Firefox or the Finder or whatever app) so I can't see the time, battery/charge status, wireless, etc. I can see everything on the left half just fine (the part where it's specific for each app: File, Edit, View, History, etc). But the right half is blank, *except* for the blue circle icon with a white magnifier icon inside -- that thing is flashing...
Another thing is that I can't open excel files. Weirdly, I can open MS Word just fine. It tells me "not enough memory", but these excel files are pretty small. The thing is, I had Office 2004, and a couple of months ago I installed Office 2008. Yesterday morning, I got an "Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.5 Update" and I just clicked "Update" like I usually do... but I was running late and had to take my laptop with me so I canceled it when it was like 80% done. Could that be causing problems?
BUT I remember the night before, I had the DVD player on, set a timer to *shut down* in 20 minutes, and I remember the morning after (the morning of this Update), I saw that my laptop was (still) ON, and it had a pop-up window to say that some stuff on my computer may run erraneously because my date on the laptop was set for before 1965 or something. So then I had to go fix the clock on my laptop which was set to like 1960 January or something.
PS - there are additional weirdness going on, like when I change the volume using the keys on the keyboard, the transparent little box that's supposed to show up on the screen with the corresponding number of bars --- that's now showing up as just a big block of white box... And on things like Finder Windows, the top portion of the window where I should be seeing a back-arrow button and stuff, they are not showing up...

Sep 21, 2009I have a project file that was created using iMovie 5 HD. In this project file were a large number of unused clips and also the final film, edited with transitions, backing music, end credits, etc.
However when I import this project file into iMovie 8 I cannot find the final edited film anywhere, just all the clips that were both used and unused within the project file.
How can I get the final film back without spending about a week re-editing everything?
