View 3 RepliesI have a very old purple iMac, circa 2000, with an old version of iMovie. I copied the files onto a USB and tried to open/import them onto my new Intel Core 2 Duo, 3.06 GHz iMac. However my new iMac with iMovie '09 won't recognise the files when I try to import them. They stay greyed, not allowing me to import them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project file that was created using iMovie 5 HD. In this project file were a large number of unused clips and also the final film, edited with transitions, backing music, end credits, etc.
However when I import this project file into iMovie 8 I cannot find the final edited film anywhere, just all the clips that were both used and unused within the project file.
How can I get the final film back without spending about a week re-editing everything?
So i've recently gotten in the uploading to YouTube craze with my Flip Mino HD but i'm not too happy at the way i've been doing this and am hoping there is an easier way.
As of late i've been importing what i film into iMovie. In iMovie i'll edit the video to my liking. In iMovie i'll "export" to the media browser so it'll show up in GarageBand. Then i'll open GarageBand and edit my film further, dealing with sound; adding music. After that i'll export it as a .MOV to my desktop. Then i'll open iMovie again and import that .MOV file and from there in iMovie will have it upload to YouTube in its original HD format.
So, I have all of my imovie projects backed up on my external harddrive, as well as the imovie program. I accidentally deleted all of the imovie projects and events from the imovie application on my laptop. When I try to re-import the imovie files into imovie, it doesn't recognize the files. I have tried to convert them with iSkySoft Video Converter. That converter program does not recognize the files either. I also tried burning the files onto a disc and then pulling them off the disc with the Handbrake program. This doesn't work either. I also tried importing the files into iMovie HD, which I have on my desktop, but to no avail. Are these files alll useless now? I'm at my wits end because I have spent literally months compiling footage for a documentary.

MacBook Pro, iOS 4.3.2
I recently installed Lion from a download. I was able to open iMovie three times to realize none of my previous movies showed up. Now, a week later, iMove crashes upon starting it. I do not have a disk to reload from, and the update manager tells me I am up to date on all my software.
Info:iMAC, Mac OS X (10.6.4)
On my Macbook pro, it starts up, "optimizes movies" and then 5 seconds later crashes. It has never done this before which is why it must have something to do with the recent update (installed in the last week)

So I went to go and find iMovie, and I cannot find it. Everything else is there, Can I reinstall it without reinstalling the entire works (i.e losing everything)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all my clips together and wanted to overlay a title on a still photo that I took from the video.
When I go to drag the title down to the video, the green + shows up, and I let go.
The title then just flies back up to the title menu and doesn't get added to the movie. What's wrong??
I have a homemade DVD someone sent me to prep for the web. Right now I just have iMovie available on my system (not enough room for FCP). The DVD automatically plays in DVD Player but when I try to import it into iMovie I see a progress menu/bar that drops down, disappears, then I have nothing and the timeline is empty and the clip I dragged/dropped it on is empty (well white from selecting it first).
It plays in DVD Player but NOT in QuickTime. QT throws up the error "Error Opening Movie. Movie could not be opened."
I have a video which I imported from a VHS using my eyetv, and overall, it's not too bad. The only problem is that the video as that telltale VHS wobble on it, which comes from a crappy video cassette.I want to put this on DVD, but I find the wobbling very distracting. Is there anything I can do in iMovie, using a plugin or its standard features to fix this?
Does anyone still have the .dmg that Apple had posted on their site? If it's not illegal, which I'm sure it probably is for some stupid reason, could they by chance e-mail me the it? I didn't have a need or even think to download it before it was discontinued until now...

This really sucks as I've been working on this presentation for some time in order to have it ready for graduation later this month. I'm going to start using the older version of IMovie.

I have a project already started in iDVD. When I try to add a movie to it, it says that my iMovie project can not be used yet because it hasn't been prepared for sharing. It tells me to go to iMovie - Share - Media Browser. When I do that and try to click on Share, nothing is available to be used.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoesn't it seem a bit weird that after bigging up how good iPhoto was in full screen and how steve thinks that all Mac apps should have a full screen mode.
Was anyone else a bit surprised when they found out there was no full screen for iMovie or garage, two apps that I would honestly think would be amazing in full screen?
I am doing a project for my new website where I need to show select clips from movies I have downloaded. The movies are in .avi format and I use VLC to watch them. iMovie will not let me import these videos, how can I work around this? So I can edit them in Imovie.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am shooting high school basketball video with two Sony HD cameras:1 camera follows the action on the court, the other stays on the clock.
I then use iMovie 11 to superimpose the clock video using Picture-in-Picture onto the game footage.
Both cameras shooting highest HD at 30 fps.
Last basketball season, I was using iMovie 09 on a MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD. I would import Video 1, import Video 2, superimpose Picture-in-Picture, share to iDVD, burn videos, no worries.
This basketball season, I am using iMovie 11 on a Mac Pro, dual Intel-6-core, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. I am having some kind of problem with memory (I think).
I boot my Mac Pro. I import the 1-hour Video 1, it takes 11 minutes. If I now import the 1-hour Video 2 (with no reboot), it takes about 30 minutes.
If I boot my Mac Pro, import 1-hour Video 1 in 11 minutes, then reboot the Mac Pro again, the 1-hour Video 2 takes 11 minutes.
When I share to iDVD to burn standard DVDs, if I reboot, it takes about 30 minutes. If I do not reboot, it takes about 2 hours.
When I export to Quicktime at 1920x1080 to burn on a Blu-Ray disc using Toast without a reboot, the export fails 4 times out of 5. If I reboot before exporting to Quicktime, the export always works.
On my MacBook Pro, using iMovie 09, of course all the times were slower because of fewer/slower cores, but I was never rebooting constantly.

I've been having an issue with the latest iMovie and it's Trailers feature. When I've added the clips and play it through, after the majority of clips there's a slight pause before the transition to the next clip. It's noticeable and annoying.
I've tried with clips from various sources and resolutions but it doesn't seem yo make any difference.
If I switch clips around and keep playing and switching, it'll eventually play with no problems.
Has anyone else bad this problem.
Is it possible to share an iMovie library like you can an iPhoto library? If so how? I'd like to be able watch the videos i have saved on my imac and view them on my macair.
View 2 Replies View Relatedall of the sudden after restarting my computer it wont work. I can't play the project i was working on, and i cant get the little red bar to move across my project. I have to like, visit my project library and then go back to my project to get the red bar to move, but then when i try to play it, it wont play. One time after clicking around a lot i got it to play, but only the sound played and none of the video previewed.
NOW when I go and do things to get it to play, instead of playing my song that I put to go along with the movie, it plays random songs from my itunes or random songs from the videos i used to make my video. So what the hell is going on here? Edit;; I just remembered- I was working on it fine last night at around 11, but then I went out with friends and left my laptop open. I came back and my computer was logged out, and some bogus amount of *****'s were typed in to the login like someone was trying to get in it (I've got a roommate, i'm in college) also, my laptop was shut, when i remember leaving it open on my bed.
So did someone like, get on and totally **** up my program? is that even possible?
My parents shot thier vacation on a New Sony DVD Camcorder (DCR-DVD100). It records on Mini-DVD's. The camera has a USB & Firewire Ports. How can I get the Video on to my G5? Should I use the Outputs and tape to a DV Camera or VHS Tape? Can I just get it from the MiniDVD to my G5?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
