Every time my imac goes to sleep and then i try to go back on safari it says "none of your preferred networks are working choose one from the list" or something like that.
So everytime i have to click my network and have it connect again, this does not happen on my other imac. Is there a way so my imac will connect to my network automatically?
When it wakes up it tries to connect and fails, but as soon as I choose my home network from the list it connects immediately. I have checked the box remember this network . I have tried all the tricks found on the internet and still have to copnnect manually.

It wont even save my history however it will still save documents and such.
Apple online support was useless!cannot remember password to signon to new IMAC. Surely there is a backdoor.

My new laptop is an aluminum MacBook though I doubt that makes any difference as I know it's an OSX issue.
I've listed it as a preferred network in the AirPort preferences pane, but it doesn't seem to help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Airport Extreme (802.11n) to replace my old Linksys router (so that I can have wifi). After I have everything installed, I went to Symantec's Security Check page and ShieldsUP! page to make sure my connection is secure.

To my horror, Symantec says that one of my ports is OPEN (ICMP Ping), while all others are CLOSED. In my limited understanding, this is definitely not the most desirable situation--not as good as my old Linksys, whose ports are all reported as STEALTH. ShieldsUP! just said that I failed because of the open ICMP port.
My questions are:
1. Is this the best Airport Extreme can do?
2. Am I safe?
3. Can I change any settings to make my network more secure?

I am doing a presentation for a class thingy in technology about new media and i'm trying to express how when macintosh youtubers started uploading video blogs when they switched to intel/intel made iMacs and about this media blah blah blah. My father has an iMac G4 circa 2003, currently running 10.2.8. He hasn't used it for a long while. This OS can connect to the internet, but the browser is incapable of loading content. What can I do? I don't want to go through finding and investing in all the OS upgrades if the computer doesn't have the storage space or capability to run them, and/or I still won't be able to use an upgraded browser with it. He's quite elderly and out in the country, so bringing it in to a Genius bar is out of the question.

I know, I know, I'm an idiot and didn't do anything right here. I'm the only user on this computer, don't have a master password set up, and don't have my install disc for another month and a half (due to my AmeriCorps program I'm moving around a lot and didn't bring it traveling with me). View 4 Replies View RelatedI imported some movies into itunes library. But the names of those movies are disordered and confused, so i try rename them to make the style clean.
Since there are a lot of them, i write some python code to do the work. I rename them directly from the source directory which is in iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies. But when I open itunes, the names are not changed. Then I try to use organize library option those names in the source file are changed back to old names.
After that, I move all those movies to other directory, and delete them in itunes. I try to rename those movies in that directory, and then import them to itunes. Surprisingly, when importing to itunes, they all changed to old names! I don't know why itunes still remember them.
I have been trying to change my admin password, but the password keep getting replaced with the old admin password.
I have try resetting it with the Mac CD, but it still return to the old password.
Can anyone give my step by step instruction on changing the admin password.
