So I have had a chance to play with the iMac a bit. The 27 is big...in fact too big, hehe. Part of the problem is that things are really small. An important question I have, is there a way to make the menu bar bigger? The dock can change easily...but it would nice to make the menu big too.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Leopard. But, for some reason, my menu bar is not translucent. I posted a thread earlier asking for help, but no-one could. I've tried everything. Nothing worked.
So now I'm looking for an app that will do the job for me. Is there one in existence? I could've sworn I read something about it before.
P.S. - PLEASE don't post in here with suggestions on how to "fix" my problem. Like I said, I've tried everything, and nothing worked.
I know there is the option to turn off the transparency of the Leopard menu bar, but I want it to look just like the Tiger one (see below):

I selected some text and went to the Services menu item and it said there were no Services that applicable. Did the same thing in Safari and there was a nice list.
Any idea how to make services appear for Firefox?
Do you know these 2 icons on the right, one for apps and one for docs? How fast are your animation before it shows up the menu wiht all apps inside? Mine seems a bit slow, like on a pc with an old or not updated video card. My MPB is 1 month old. i'm sure it was faster with fresh MACOS installed. More icons in it = slower?

While in MS Word and other programs, the dialog box when choosing from the menu is pretty small, with small type. Can these field input boxes be made larger with larger, more readable text?
For example, when I'm doing Find/Replace in MS Word, the input field boxes are very small, even though I have a 20" monitor.

I am doing a presentation for a class thingy in technology about new media and i'm trying to express how when macintosh youtubers started uploading video blogs when they switched to intel/intel made iMacs and about this media blah blah blah. In the pic attached is that a iMac G5 or intel. I see spot light on the top right so it's either running tiger or leopard. I thought I saw a apple remote magnetic thingy on the side. Did the iMac g5 have one?

I used my Macbook Pro's Time Machine to restore everything on the iMac that I received. However, the battery icon is showing up on the menu bar (in between the bluetooth and airport). I got my new 27" iMac yesterday and installed iStat Menus and for some reason the Up/Down speeds from the Airport do not register at all. I have iStat set to the Airport as the only option and is the priority. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iStat Menus and still no luck getting anything to work.

I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several iMacs in my office with Lion and Mail 5.1. I have a user who wants to View attachments as Icons to ensure all are attached prior to sending. Unlike all the other iMacs, hers does not have the option "View in Place" and "View as Icon" when she right-clicks on the attachment.
I have found in other posts that you cannot set a defaul to ensure Icons or View in Place will always occur, and that the default depends on the type and size of attachment. I am not sure of that logic, but she can't even choose on an individual email basis. How can those options be enabled?

Is is possible to enlarge the text in the headings in the Desktop menu bar or use large icons, I can't find it mentioned in the 'System Preferences'.
Also my magic mouse will not zoom when holding down the control key and scrolling with one finger as per the booklet that came with the iMac. .

Just today it began that when I try and open iChat from the Menu Bar icon, the whole right side of the menu bar reboots. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea of steps I can take to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?

My current PC is a $300 Acer laptop from 4 years ago (you can imagine how powerful it is :-P ). I?ve decided it?s time to upgrade and now is the perfect time to finally make the switch over to the Mac. I?m just really unsure about what route I should go with given how I will use the machine and I?m humbly coming before you guys for your opinions! View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my early 2010 iMac has 8gb of memory (4 x 2GB modules).I happen to have 2 spare 4gb modules that are from a MacBook pro of the same era - i.e they are DD3 1066Mhz and they will fit.So question is - if I take out two of the 2gb modules and replace them with 2 of the 4gb machines - will the machine work and will it see the full 12gb ( 2 x 2gb plus 2 x 4 gb)?

Could any of the owners of the new 2.93/3.06Ghz iMac comment on this issue? Do the new machines get really hot and make awful noise? Or are they pretty silent? The noise is a real dealbreaker for me.
