OS X Yosemite :: Cannot Move Spam Folder Out Of Inbox

Dec 3, 2014

MacMail in OS X Yosemite has the spam folder in the same mailbox as my inbox, so each time I get spam, MacMail is telling me I have new mail. How can I change it so only valid email is marked as unread, and spam is just filtered as spam? I tried moving the spam folder out of the main inbox folder but no joy.

Software :: Black Screen With White Type On Boot Up

Mar 13, 2009

I didn't have an internet connection so I rebooted the computer -- I wish I'd just rebooted the modem now. When it "rebooted" it didn't boot up but a black screen with a lot of white type saying the start up of various things failed -- it looked like a PC script type thing. Then that type disappeared leaving a black screen and just a white cursor that moves when I hit the space bar. This is the computer for the place I'm working and I'm not even sure what generation Mac it is, though I'll try to find out. I hope, hope, hope that there is some kind of simple resolution to this.

I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.

Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?

OS X :: Powermac G3 Beige Desktop Not Booting From CD?

Sep 18, 2010

I'm having some trouble booting my Powermac G3 beige desktop into OSX 10.2 - i know that it's officially supported, but its failing to boot the CD.

Symptoms:
Boot the mac up, press C, grey screen displays, (very) briefly displays a black screen with some white text and resets itself - Chimes, then sits doing nothing, no output to the monitor or anything. After this, i have to do the Ctrl+Opt+P+R before it will boot back up and repeat.

I have managed to get into the installer before, but install failed presumably due to the old hard drive being knackered (The original Quantum Fireball 4GB drive!!) No such joy since then really.

Applications :: Emails Disappearing From Inbox / Inbox Only Hold Upto 2 Weeks Of Mail

May 28, 2009

I use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Some Email Present In Overall Inbox But Not In Its Account Inbox?

Apr 22, 2012

I've got really odd behavior in my Mail application running on a MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 4GB RAM OS X 10.7.3. I have several email accounts. In one of them, "X," some emails don't show up in the account Inbox even though they are present in the overall Inbox marked as "Inbox - X"! Also, when I set up a Smart Mailbox with as criterion that the sender is "Y," the sender of one of these "missing" emails, those emails don't show in the Smart Mailbox. What's going on here? It screws up my email management as I can't be sure my Smart Mailboxes and folders contain all that they're supposed to.

PowerPC :: G3 Beige Minitower Failing To Boot After Processor Swap

Jun 1, 2010

I have a G3 Beige Minitower (233MHz model) that I recently upgraded with a A/V Personality card I got from a friend of mine. It booted with the new personality card just fine. Now I got a hold of a G3 450MHz ZIF processor card and I put it into my G3, swapping out the old 233MHz one. I also took off the red jumper block and put some jumpers in place for a 450MHz processor. (Thanks to MacAddict Issue 30 for the pinouts, see "Overclocking your G3"). Now I got it booting, chiming and the power light going green, but no video coming out of the onboard video card (that came with the machine). I also have another Hard Drive, a Ultra-Wide SCSI card and a USB card, all 3rd party.

OS X :: Entries Made In System Log Every 10 Seconds

Apr 22, 2009

I just realized today that there are entries made in System.log (visible in Console) every 10 seconds. They are trying to run a MOTULauncher, which is probably some type of driver for a recording device I installed at one point but no longer use. Here are the entries in the log (the same repeats every 10 seconds):

4/22/09 1:14:53 AM com.apple.launchd[68] (com.motu.MOTULauncher[7164]) posix_spawnp("/System/Library/Extensions/MOTUFireWireAudio.kext/Contents/MacOS/MOTUFireWireConsoleLauncher.app/Contents/MacOS/MOTUFireWireConsoleLauncher", ...): No such file or directory
4/22/09 1:14:53 AM com.apple.launchd[68] (com.motu.MOTULauncher[7164]) Exited with exit code: 1
4/22/09 1:14:53 AM com.apple.launchd[68] (com.motu.MOTULauncher) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
4/22/09 1:15:03 AM com.apple.launchd[68] (com.motu.MOTULauncher[7165]) posix_spawnp("/System/Library/Extensions/MOTUFireWireAudio.kext/Contents/MacOS/MOTUFireWireConsoleLauncher.app/Contents/MacOS/MOTUFireWireConsoleLauncher", ...): No such file or directory
4/22/09 1:15:03 AM com.apple.launchd[68] (com.motu.MOTULauncher[7165]) Exited with exit code: 1
4/22/09 1:15:03 AM com.apple.launchd[68] (com.motu.MOTULauncher) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

How to go about stopping this? I've been searching on my computer trying to find a configuration file or something, but I can't seem to find where this is being called.

I back track and and unable to find a fault of where I went wrong!! Then I have to ask myself WHY? Why on earth am I having to go to such extreme lengths to get rid of the unwanted entries?Come on now Apple it is you who should be providing the simple logic answer to this?I decided to give up? just ignore the other entries it easier than going frantic trying (and anyway I am frightened I may throw the macbook in my temper)
