My screen has lines going across the bottom and some on the left side of the screen as well. what caused this and is it fixable.

I have a PDF that I scanned in myself and the first time I printed it it printed just the way it was supposed to. The next time I opened up the file in preview it looked normal on my screen but when I went to print it the output in the printer had the colors inverted. I have tried printing from preview and adobe acrobat and it printed the same the blacks came out white and the whites came out black. So I tried printing it from a windows computer and the file printed as it should, the colors were normal not inverted.

I've just installed the 10.6.2 update in my new 21.5" iMac. When my computer restarted all the colors look inverted in all applications, dock, menus, photos, desktop image, everything. Does anyone has the same problem or an idea of how can I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI didn't have an internet connection so I rebooted the computer -- I wish I'd just rebooted the modem now. When it "rebooted" it didn't boot up but a black screen with a lot of white type saying the start up of various things failed -- it looked like a PC script type thing. Then that type disappeared leaving a black screen and just a white cursor that moves when I hit the space bar. This is the computer for the place I'm working and I'm not even sure what generation Mac it is, though I'll try to find out. I hope, hope, hope that there is some kind of simple resolution to this.

So I decided to touch the top of the monitor again, and my screen became inverted permanently until I tapped it again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my problem with my Macbook Pro's pixels is many of them look blurry and are multiple colors almost like a rainbow. They also only show up on white backgrounds, not black. Some of them are in clusters and others are spread out. One of the clusters is very annoying and looks like a big blurry dot on my screen. I am hoping to take it in to the apple store and see what they can do about it because it seems like it is getting worse. I am assuming these are all dead pixels but I am not certain.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 30-inch cinema display and a Power Mac G5 (quad). Last night I was toying around by trying to boot an old 450 MHz G4 connected to my G5 via firewire ( I need to do some work on the G4 and it doesn't support my big display). So I connected it to my G5 via firewire target disk mode, then selected the disc (which has 10.2 on it) in the Startup disk preferences via System Prefs. Then I tried it and got a kernel panic. Alright, so it didn't work. Oh well. But now that everything is disconnected and my G5 is back to it's normal state (meaning the G4 isn't connected at all), when I start up, my display acts very weird. I get a few flashing colors blocks at the beginning, then it blacks out. Then when I login, it goes black again, then pops back on. So I'm trying to figure out what I did to my baby and how to fix it.

I sold my Powermac and have purchased an Mac Mini, but in the meanwhile I have been on an old pc I had laying around. I realized this week that the ubuntu machine's screen saver was set to 'black screen,' and the power management panel was set to set the displays to sleep after six hours! This has been going for the past few weeks as I waited for a new machine, and now that the mac mini comes tomorrow, I am worried I have caused undue stress on my two dell monitors.
Is this something in my head, or is the prolonged display of pure black a problem for LCD monitors?
After applying an image to be an application's icon, the image does not appear but instead the image of Preview appears with the image's type (for example jpeg) on it. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong, other than possibly using the wrong image type. Is there a proper image type to use (I've tried pretty much every type but none of them seem to work), or do you have to change icons from somewhere other than 'get info'?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat do you expect of the next generation of MBP's?I think no optical drive is a given, at least for the sub 17" models. I'm more curious if they will ditch the drive bay like they did with the MBA's. I think the next generation of MBPs will have IPS displays with black frames, built-in SSD, very long battery life and strong specs. Imagine a 13" MBP without a drive bay and optical drive could have room for more battery and discrete graphics card, and probably even be thinner than the current crop.

Cannot open Preview on my MacBook Pro. I can't open any type of image file. It will preview for a second and then the report Don't Reopen/Reopen screen comes up.

I can barely see digital pictures and the likes. But websites and such i can see fine so long as the colors are light and looking on this site... [URL]
the first image i absolutely cannot see, it is 100% pitch black.. the other bellow it shows up just fine. But the two left/lowest squares on the color table on the very bottom the page both appear the same shade of pitch black.
I can see light but not dark. I tried callibrating and adjusting brightness and contrast.
One software says I cannot upload an image because the image or the container folder does not have permission. Indeed there is one "unknown" in permissions, that I cannot get to a read write no matter how hard I try -- both on the folder, the desktop, and the file (this is all on my laptop) I've done a repair permission.

Why is it when I view my photo's in iphoto some are blacked out ? If I dbl click on them they become visible and if I edit them and save they appear visible in the spot in iphoto where they came from . I have several like this . All photo's visible and blacked out are taken by the same camera .
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem on my mbp screen, although it happened only once just an hour ago. The screen goes flickering magenta and white and some pixelated image. I needed to force shutdown using the power button because it seems to stalled. After restarting, it went to normal. I dunno if it has anything to do with the gfxstatus utility that I've installed the night before. I know it might be the nvidia graphic card itself but I just don't have a clue right now. My MBP is just 8 days old and my 1 to 1 exchange has expired since it covers the 1st 7 days only.
My MBP spec:
MacBook Pro 17" AG, i5 2.53 Ghz, 4gb RAM, 500gb Hitachi HD, 512mb nVidia GT330M video card, Mac OSX 10.6.3, with everything updated. Tthe attached pic is not showing the exact image since the screen was flickering etc and I'm just using a camera photo. I just noticed while I'm just surfing this forum + facebook, my temperature is at 67-70 degree celcius, which is high (normal around 38-45). I look at Activity Monitor and found that Kernel Task is using up to 80% of CPU. I have a feeling that this is not normal, and it had not happened before.
I have Canon MP810 printer/scanner and am using MBP 15" running Leopard (fully updated). I want to print in black and white (I don't want to waste the color inks for non-essential print jobs). There is no option for gray scale. Is there a way around this to make the printer print in black and white (gray scale)?
