OS X Yosemite :: Messages Window Moving On Activation?
Dec 5, 2014Ever since I updated to Yosemite I've noticed a strange behavior with the Messages window. If the Messages window is partially obscured behind another window and I click in the Messages window title bar area, the window comes to the front but it's in some sort of "move pending" mode. The next location I click is where the window is moved to. Is this a new "feature" of Yosemite? I may have turned on some preference without realizing it. Seems to only do it with the Messages window.

Dec 6, 2014I have rules that sort new mail into a number of mailboxes on iCloud, and also copy the mail to similar mailboxes local to my desktop. The rules seem to want the "move" action first, followed by the copy action, as no mater how I enter them, they are rearranged. After I edit a rule and have the destination mailboxes set, they look OK, but then when I revisit the rule after saving, the destination mailboxes are changed. I am not able to get this to work at all consistently. I have about 30 rules to sort incoming mail.
I want to do it this way so that I can get a local copy of my mail and also have a copy in the cloud for viewing with my mobile devices. I eventually delete all the iCloud mail and archive the mail in local folders offline. So it would be nice to be able to get the two copies of new mail in the cloud and locally to work.

Jun 27, 2012I've setup my Gmail IMAP account in Mail 5.3. I've configured my gmail account to only show in imap the inbox, sent mail, junk and drafts to get rid of the pesky "All Mail" box. Sending emails from Mail works fine (and they've been copied into my gmail sent box as well), but Mail stopped downloading new messages in the inbox after the initial setup. I don't have any filters on.

May 16, 2012I am trying to get icloud to sync my mail across 2 Macs and an ipad.All three collect mail OK.I can move mail from the inboxes to folders in ICLOUD on one mac and they appear in those folders on the other and the ipad. But they do not dissapear from the inboxes of the other two.This is from the other mac showing mailbox structure and files emails which should not be there.

Jul 31, 2005I've used Google's instructions to set up my Gmail accounts on Mac Mail using IMAP. The only issue I'm finding is when I have messages in my inbox, all I see are the emails that were sent to me. To see the messages I've send, I can only do this by clicking on sent mail.
Is there anyway to see my messages in their threads just by clicking on the inbox, just how it works when using Gmail via their web site? I can get the view I want when I click "All Mail" but then I have hundreds of emails rather than what's in my inbox. I've searched everywhere but have yet to find a solution.

That is, I will have all of my unread emails at the top, but then the first read email will be my most recently received one?
At the moment, sorting by unread status means that the top read emails are the ones that have been forwarded/replied to, and then the most recently dated ones.

Apr 18, 2012In old style view. Every time I touch a message, it turns to read even if I haven't double clicked to "open it". I presume this is because it is previewing but I don't want it to do this. Also, every time I click on "inbox" to look at my messages, the top message in the list automatically changes to read. Again, I haven't opened the email and in this case I haven't even touched it! Can I TURN OFF PREVIEW? I've been looking around but can't seem to do this.

Dec 3, 2014MacMail in OS X Yosemite has the spam folder in the same mailbox as my inbox, so each time I get spam, MacMail is telling me I have new mail. How can I change it so only valid email is marked as unread, and spam is just filtered as spam? I tried moving the spam folder out of the main inbox folder but no joy.

Aug 31, 2008So I create a whole bunch of folders in Mail. Everything is fine. I'm moving and organizing things. Then suddenly I get this pop-up message:
The message "Job" could not be moved to the mailbox "Jobs — On My Mac"
I can read it. Why wouldn't it move?
Another time I couldn't move it, it said this and the message could not be read. This is displayed in the message body when the title is highlighted:
The message from Robin [URL] concerning "Your work" has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
Its POP email. I have no idea what to even check.

I've always been able to set up my corporate Exchange email account using OSX Mail application. However, I have NEVER been able to delete messages from my InBox. Is this just a set up issue I am unaware of or is this a long-standing bug Apple refuses to fix?

OS X Yosemite :: Finder Moving Files Not Copying?
Dec 5, 2014I have been using a mac for over 15 years but this one has me stumped.
When coping files I have always held down 'option' to copy the file. A small green plus symbol appears and the files then copy into the target folder, or hard drive.
I have a Mac Pro, with the latest updates of Yosemite .... but now the files are moving and NOT copying.
So when I back something up, they are no longer in the original location, only where i have copyied them to. They disappear.
Should I be using cut and paste instead?
