I've set up my mail accounts (me.com, and live.co.uk) and am sending and recieving emails just fine, however old emails were never imported over.How can I import all the emails in my webmail so that they show up in Mail? Its irritating having to sign-into my webmail to read an older email (I only set up Mail 3 days ago).

View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I first set up my mail application on Mac to sync up with my web based mail (hotmail) I did not uncheck the flag NOT to remove the emails from the server. This resulted in all my mails until 2010 (time of Mail setup) to be synched up with Mail app on Mac AND removal of them from the hotmail server. Because of this, they are not accessible through Web interface anymore.
Since hotmail is using POP, I am unable to sync it back from Mail app to the hotmail server. I am trying to redirect all emails from Mail app to my hotmail account, but the redirection changes the from address field. I thought that the difference between Forward and Redirect was the way these functions interpret and act on the From field like:
- Forward function would change the From field to show the current account it is sent from
- Redirect function would keep From field intact in the message, so that my hotmail would see the original From field and not the one of my Mail account server.
It seems that both of these functions work more or less the same in Mail app. Could I get a clarification on it, or at least a solution on how to get my mail back to the hotmail server? I do not want to forward, since all the messages will appear like they were from me, causing a big mess.

I have 2 (Apple Mail and Entourage) clients storing 3 months of emails each and I want to merge them into Gmail. The messages no longer exist on the web-based servers and I heard IMAP might be in handy for transfering the messages to an online acct then transfering to gmail.
Any idea of how to do this with Entourage or Apple Mail?
BTW, they're both from the same email address, I just changed providors (hosting/email) during the 6 month period.
Emails with attachments sent in iCloud on OS X Lion Mail do not show up in Sent Folder. I've tried removing and putting back my iCloud account already on my Mac... many times. I've run repair permissions -- no luck.

I got a new MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.3. I am using Mail and from some reason my top conversation (my emails are organized by conversations) always shows up as "unread" with the blue dot next to it even though I click on it and read all the emails in this conversation. The problem goes away if I quit Mail and relaunch it.

I have been using Automator to import hundreds of text files into one excel workbook using the "Import Text files to Excel Workbook" action. Automator works great for all files that are tab delimited. However I have another set of data that are output with a varying amount of spaces between each column. I cannot change the way they are output.
Automator gives me the option of choosing "space" as a delimiter, but it wont give me the option to "Treat consecutive delimiters as one" that Import within excel does. I also tried to record my actions within excel many times but it didn't work even with just one file. So what I need is a way to get these text files into one excel workbook as separate worksheets with the data separated correctly into columns.

At the end of each week I need to mail out a link. This link is a link to folder on a windows network.Its one of those tasks that I have made a little quicker by making a template in mail.app. However I have to go in and amend that link each week so that it points to the right location. This is tedious still and as a result human mistakes can still be made.This is my process at the momentIn mail app I select a templates Then I select send again or use the keyboard short the subject then needs to be amended and I replace the XX with the week number.then I select the link ctrl click and select edit linkAgain both of the XX get replaced with the week number.once complete I then hit send.Then move onto the next brand.The first option would be week number then this is slightly more involved but some kind of selection box to select which brands to recieve the email? I've looked up a number of scripts and link/html mail seams to be very awkward. Hopefully I have covered everything that needs to be listed Matt

Apple mail out of office rule is sending auto replies to all emails not just newly received emails--HELP! I set up the rule according to another apple support thread and instead of only sending the reply to new mail received, it was sent to all messages I believe that were in my INBOX, I only had a few but several people that hadn't sent me emails since I set up the rule, received the OUT OF OFFICE reply.Here is the procedure I followed for the out of office rule-[URL]I just used my email account which is a business account- not an ECU account but these rules according to the apple thread apply for all emails.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I upgraded to Yosemite my Mail has gone amok. Emails show up directly in Archive, instead of for instance Inbox or Sent. Some sent emails don't show up in any mailbox at all, but apparently they reach the recipient. Â
How can I delete the Archive mailbox? It works totally different than how it is described in manuals. I have NEVER moved any email to Archive, but it is full of all sorts of emails from all the other mailboxes. I want ALL my received emails in the Inbox and my sent emails in the Sent box.Â

I have a number of folders on my desktop that contain movie files, jpeg files, you name it. When I try to import from the desktop, the import media window only shows the files and not the folders they are in! I have included a screen shot of what my window looks like when I select the desktop to import media. Again, I have a number of folders that don't show up, only the files in them. This is maddening when trying to import files! I know i can move the files to my hard drive but i am used to desktop work flow.

Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
I'm traveling tomorrow to Europe and am only taking my iPad and camera. I'm planning on using an SD card reader to upload my photos/videos to my iPad, then use Dropbox on the iPad to copy my daily shots to my Dropbox account. I'm thinking that I'll have an AppleScript on my home computer's /Dropbox/europe/ folder to look for newly added data and then auto import that into iPhoto. What's the best way to handle this? I got it working with a couple of test images but when iPhoto sees photos that it's already imported it asks me if I want to import in the duplicates or skip them. I'd like to skip them or write the AppleScript in a way that handles this. I'm also fine with copying the photos out of the Dropbox folder into a separate folder elsewhere and not using iPhoto. I'm just trying to theft proof my data in case my iPad gets stolen or if my Dropbox goes goofy and deletes the photos. Maybe copy newly added data to a designated directory outside of the Dropbox folder? How can I do this?Â

Under Snow Leopard, I used the same Applescripts (fired off by iCal) which turned on/off Mail's New Mail Sound depending on the time of day, i.e. I set the new mail sound to be "Silent Alert" in the evening and restored it to my default new mail alert in the morning. Any guidance as to what might be wrong and how to solve this problem would be very welcome. Â

In an effort to make Mail more gmail-like, I selected the "View>Organize by thread" option. However, this only seems to group messages in my inbox and doesn't include my sent messages within the same conversation.
Is this how threaded messages are supposed to work? Just one side of a conversation? Or is there a setting to get my sent messages to show up in the threaded conversation?
I am using Mac Mail to check my gmail acct via IMAP. I am using the settings specified by google. I have selected the appropriate folders and mapped them using the "Use this folder for..." menu item. My sent messages are both in the Sent folder (for a while, then they disappear) and below in my Gmail>Sent Mail folder (always current). I have the option selected to store them on the server.
I was sent this MSGÂ your email is still coming through malformed, with no email address in the From:Â There is no reply address appearing in mail I send.

I had a whole set of folders set up for my emails in relation to that account.
I had trouble with that account last week and had to 'reload' the account and now all the folders have disappeard.

When i use Outlook on my windows comp (or bootcmap partition) i can view my spam mail folder. Sometimes mail i want, end up in there, so its quite handy. Is there anyways i can activate this feature in Mac OSX mail? Or do i have to use entourage?
