I have a 2009 macbook pro and this update doesn't show up in software updates. It also doesn't show up on my daughter's 2011 air. Anything I should be worried about?
View 1 RepliesWhen I check for software updates only itunes and random other updates show up but not security updates or safari update. When i check installed updates I realized my last security update was 2011-004 and I still have safari 5.0.6.

Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
I received my new iMac 27" yesterday and as it has Lion pre-installed I ran Software Update to check.It did this OK, but then my second attempt it had an issue with one of the files and wont complete.Since then when I clcik install items it minimises to the doc, but no sign of progress and does nothing (it seems) How can I get this to work properly again as it should?

yesterday, I did the following:
I did a full backup at noon with CCC 3.0.1 on my external drive.
In the evening I planned to replace my MBP's internal hard drive with a new 320GB one. But before I updated to the new Updates available (Quicktime 7.4.5, iTunes 7.6.2, Frontrow... etc). I don't know why I did it, I guess I forgot that my backup wouldn't include that, or that I wanted to replace my hard drive at all
Anyway, I replaced the HD successfully and restored the CCC created backup with my Leopard DVD via Disk Utility.
When I booted everything was the same as it was at noon, except that LittleSnitch reseted it preferences somehow, no big deal.
But now I can't use Software Update anymore. iTunes itself reports, that a new update is available and then starts Software Update, but Software Update says "everything is up to date".
I checked /Library/Updates which only included an index file (deleted it).
I searched for all Software Update .plists and deleted them, even Software Update's .log file (so it can't show me anymore which software it had updated).
Has anyone of you experienced something similar and knows a fix for this?
I've set up my mail accounts (me.com, and live.co.uk) and am sending and recieving emails just fine, however old emails were never imported over.How can I import all the emails in my webmail so that they show up in Mail? Its irritating having to sign-into my webmail to read an older email (I only set up Mail 3 days ago).

I have a shell script running on a Linux machine to generate multipart mail messages. These display perfectly in Thunderbird (PC or Mac) but the html is missing when I open them in Mac mail. Switch to plain text and they look fine, but the html just doesn't display.
I've tried Snow Leopard and Lion with the same result.
found today that 10.7.4-OS X doesn't handle IPv6-autoconfiguration.
At tcpdump I see the "Router Advertisments" but the configd can't answer with "Router Solicitation":

Where do i get this update from? I have tried looking for it on software updates but it keeps telling me that I have nothing to update... Macbook Pro running Lion V 10.7.4 .After a hard drive failure this weekend, I restored frm my most recent backup.Unfortunately this did not include svn, host file changes and some other fairly easy to correct things.The one that has been giving me trouble for the last 8 hours is mysql. I have gone through and removed mysql (multiple times) and did fresh installs. Each time I was getting the error:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (38)
Even after changing my /etc/my.cnf file to point to var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I would get these errors.
Are there multiple locations where mysql points to /tmp/mysql.sock?
I am at a loss of what to do. I have uninstalled reeinstalled. Tried many different solutions all to reeive the same error.

my problem is since the update to 10.7.3, Lion isn't waking up from standby when I have left my external Monitor attached to my MacBook Pro. It will flash the keyboard backlight, but both displays remain black. And when i disconnect the external one, nothing happens. Only possibility to come out of this state: Hold power button for some seconds until it shutds down "hard".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a FireWired External Drive and Software update installed some SnowLeopard/midi/audio updates on the external drive. I then restarted going into the Mother ship that also has SnowLeopard to bring that up to date.
When i checked for updates using the software update there is message that sezs :
"Failed to check for update. There was a problem communicating with the web proxy server (HTTP)."
I am on line posting this message so it can't be an Internet server problem on the Mother ship ( the main Macintosh hard drive ).
What does that message really mean and how do i fix that?
Our software update service is not downloading the 10.7.3 updates. I have updated the server to 10.7.3 but it made no difference. I have start/stopped the service a few times - it as downloaded a load of multilingual voices post date 7th Feb 2012 and the Security updates for Snow Leopard post date 2//2/2012 just not the 10.7.3 updates. Do Apple put a delay in the server to try to spread the demand on bandwidth?
Clients are updating fine from the server all other services working normally.
I can't get around this error: None of the selected updates could be saved. Software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, and then try again. Connection reset by peer.

I recently purchased Lion and was excited to install from the app store. Purchased and it appears to be downloading but stops about 3/4 of the way through and I get an "NSPortTimeoutException" error. I tried downloading a simple free app and same situation. I ran disk utility and hard drive is fine. I had no issues with running software update until recently. I thought this may be the problem so I ran software update again. I gives details regarding several updates. When I attempt to install the updates, I immediately get a prompt to restart my computer. I run software update again and the same list of updates come up. The updates are not being downloaded or installed. My Internet connection is fast and reliable.
