Recently bought a G4, running OS 10.2.8 as a 2nd puter. Firstly, when I access my hotmail account I can log-in and see the e-mails but can't open them. I also get no response to delete and other options. I suspect this is because I'm running a very old version of safari. Secondly, I want to download Flash player. When I go to the download site I can't see or activate the 'download' button.
Here's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox pluginsÔŅĹ To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
At the end of each week I need to mail out a link. This link is a link to folder on a windows network. Its one of those tasks that I have made a little quicker by making a template in mail.app. However I have to go in and amend that link each week so that it points to the right location. This is tedious still and as a result human mistakes can still be made. This is my process at the momentIn mail app I select a templates Then I select send again or use the keyboard short the subject then needs to be amended and I replace the XX with the week number.then I select the link ctrl click and select edit linkAgain both of the XX get replaced with the week number.once complete I then hit send. Then move onto the next brand. The first option would be week number then this is slightly more involved but some kind of selection box to select which brands to recieve the email? I've looked up a number of scripts and link/html mail seams to be very awkward. Hopefully I have covered everything that needs to be listed Matt
I've set up my mail accounts (me.com, and live.co.uk) and am sending and recieving emails just fine, however old emails were never imported over. How can I import all the emails in my webmail so that they show up in Mail? Its irritating having to sign-into my webmail to read an older email (I only set up Mail 3 days ago).
When I first set up my mail application on Mac to sync up with my web based mail (hotmail) I did not uncheck the flag NOT to remove the emails from the server. This resulted in all my mails until 2010 (time of Mail setup) to be synched up with Mail app on Mac AND removal of them from the hotmail server. Because of this, they are not accessible through Web interface anymore.
Since hotmail is using POP, I am unable to sync it back from Mail app to the hotmail server.†I am trying to redirect all emails from Mail app to my hotmail account, but the redirection changes the from address field. I thought that the difference between Forward and Redirect was the way these functions interpret and act on the From field like:
- Forward function would change the From field to show the current account it is sent from - Redirect function would keep From field intact in the message, so that my hotmail would see the original From field and not the one of my Mail account server.
It seems that both of these functions work more or less the same in Mail app.†Could I get a clarification on it, or at least a solution on how to get my mail back to the hotmail server? I do not want to forward, since all the messages will appear like they were from me, causing a big mess.

I know how to dl on a PC but how I would I do it on a Mac? On PC, I play the MP3 and a file dl to your temp file. On Mac how would I go about it? Is is the same as the Activity monitor when you want to dl a video from YouTube?
My son is trying to open a .jar on his Macbook to add a mod to Minecraft.  It throws an error and directs him to Console each time, but Console isn't showing any errors.  Using advice on a couple of similar threads I followed some steps but ended up at a dead end.
The Terminal message I get when I follow the steps in another thread is this:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/widgets/Display

I'm looking for a software solution that will allow me to capture a firewire video and then play simultaneously while still recording it.  Then stopping the recording and let it play till the end of capture.
How can i open the files in the folder† if you scroll to "--open file items of the name folder" you can see where I am struggling to run the script.†How should this look to run, currently the script runs, with no errors or anything appearing in the folders.
I'm wondering where to go to find the lastest things like emacs, python distributions, apache, etc. There used to be a bunch of them on apple.com but they keep moving things around and I'm having trouble finding them.

I am trying to do research on how to fix my current problem of not being able to open my terminal window.  When attempting to do so I get the following error message:
You are unauthorized to run this application.
The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value.
I looked at some previous posts and some people said download iterm2 and put the following command: sudo chsh -s /bin/bash my_username.  After this enter password and it should be fixed.  However when doing that I get the following response: SC is not in the sudoers file.  This incident will be reported.
Couple of things, firstly SC (which is me) is the administrator to this computer (this is my computer and there are no other users on it).

I've got a private law practice for which I use an iCloud account. My message count now puts me close to the 10,000 mark and I'd like to substantially reduce the footprint of my inbox without actually deleting the older messages by saving them locally?
Does anyone know of a native-to-Mac-OS-X way to accomplish this? Or perhaps a trustworthy App?
I'm trying to write a script that will open a specific folder.  The only problem is that it needs to be run on multiple machines with different Hard Drive names.  Here is a sample of the script that will work on my machine.
tell application "Finder" activate open folder "HDD:Volumes:USERData:Users:Staff:Name" end tell
Is there anyway to change "HDD" to whatever the current users Hard Drive is named?
